Personality & Traits

General Overview Hermia often has trouble reconciling her Marine upbringing with her medical training. She is an exceptional diagnostic surgeon, with a great bedside manner.
She went against her father's wishes by becoming a 'Fleet doctor, but studied combat medicine and completed Marine Basic Training, to make him happy. Although she tends to follow the rules, her loyalty to her or the needs of her patients sometimes trump her adherence to the regs.

Growing up on Earth she was teased about her mixed parentage. Not wanting to appear different or 'alien', she began wearing coloured contacts to hide her Betazoid eyes. A practice she continues to this day.
Hermia deals with her anger, by working. She doesn't lash out, instead she calmly and meticulously plan revenge against those who wrong her. The one exception is her father, which she actively lashes out at.
She is also a closet romantic.
Strengths & Weaknesses + Her empathic abilities aid her in her diagnosis of a patient.
+ Is a very proficient diagnostician.
+ Has the knowledge and ability to incapacitate most humanoids.

- Can be manipulative
- Holds a grudge
- Her empathic abilities can sometimes make it difficult for her to focus in a crowded Sickbay or on a battlefield.
Ambitions To make her father proud (Something that she tends to undermine with her sometimes undisciplined behaviour).

To get her daughter, Helena back. Her ex currently has full custody.
Hobbies & Interests working out, reading romance novels, playing (Gaelic) soccer. New medical techniques, new phaser rifles. Close Quarters Combat.

Medical Record

Injuries Numerous injuries sustained during her Marine training.

Personal History Hermia Annalise O'Rourke was born into a family with a long tradition of becoming Marines. She broke her father's heart not only by going into Medicine, but by also joining Starfleet rather than the Marine Corps. As a favour to him she did minor in Battlefield Medicine and completed Marine Basic Training in her final Academy year.

Although she did this grudgingly, it amused her that she was the only member of her graduating class that could field-strip a phaser-rifle blind-folded.

Hermia's empathic abilities, she inherited from her mother, are both a blessing and a curse in her chosen profession. When treating a single patient she can tell if there is something they are keeping from her. But on a battlefield or in a busy triage she has to try extra hard to block out the emotions.

Hermia's father taught all his children how to defend themselves when they were still in primary school.

When she was 8, while other children her age were playing games, she was learning the best places to hit a man in order to immobilise him. On the bright side, it gave her an advantage in her anatomy classes at the Academy.

During her time in Starfleet she has received numerous reprimands for disobeying regulations and has even been brought before a Court Martial, for an incident that took place during Away Mission. It happened during a Survey Mission. The Away Team came under attack from aggressive natives and team leader was injured. Lt. Morris, an ambitious yet incompetent young officer took command. He would have gottten them all killed if, after exhausting all other avenues, Hermia hadn't knocked him unconscious and surrendered command to someone more experienced.

She was charged with mutiny and striking a superior officer. The charge of mutiny was dropped, thanks in part to the testimony given by the rest of the Away Team. While she was found guilty of the other charge, she was given the mildest punishment allowed, due to her aid in the success of the mission.

In 2384 she was seconded to the SFMC where she served as a surgeon on a base in Cardassian space. She was kept busy patching up wounded following skirmishes with pirates or True Way terrorists.

While stationed at SFMCB – Patton, Veltor II, she relearned self discipline and stopped acting out.

While providing medical assistance at a forward station on Veltor II, a True Way assault team attacked. After they killed her patient and demanded medical supplies, she was forced to kill two of them, in order to save her life and that of her nurse.
