Personal Log :: SD 239308.06 ...

I am taking this opportunity to record this log with a few moments of relative normalcy, before we prepare to enter the Tri'jema. Despite the warnings from both Vulcan and Romulus, or more likely, a previously unknown Romulan outpost approximately one hundred light years from out location.

Commander Barstow has assigned me to Strategic Operations, a role I am familiar with but have had little practical experience of thus far, so hopefully my Tactical experience will come in useful. If events go to schedule, the Vulcan vessel, still unidentified, should reach us in four hours twenty two minutes, give or take, depending on their approach procedure, which given their open threats towards us should we attempt to enter the stricken vessel I feel will be direct. The Vulcan’s have never been a race to employ subterfuge … Computer strike that last comment …

We have orientated the Merlin so as to be effectively 'facing' the Vulcan vessel head-on should it remain on its current heading. For a moment, seeing the number of fighters our Chief Air Group initially deployed, I was concerned we may have 'overreacted' regarding our preparations, but that thought evaporated almost instantly, remembering a comment from one of my Flight instructors, who said ... 'You can never be over-prepared, and if you are then you are over-thinking' ... Always puzzled me that comment …. At this stage, we have physically surrounded the Tri'jema with an effective sphere of fighters, and while I don't expect either Vulcan's or Romulans to come at us from positive of negative Zee, it is not something that should be ruled out. Unsurprisingly, Lieutenant Tillatix had already covered this prior to my suggesting it.

As I look at the tactical overlays of our fighters effectively surrounding the Tri'jema, it would be impossible to thread a needle through our proverbial haystack, I have to commend the CAG, our deployment is almost faultless in execution and readiness. Let’s hope that remains so, and one of our prospective 'guests' do not throw something unexpected into the mix .....
