ON:

John walked back into his quarters after leaving Cale in the lounge. He walked around the glass top desk and easily slid into the soft desk chair with a sigh and turned to face the monitor. Barstow tugged down the front of his flight jacket and sat up a bit straighter before hitting the accept button on the incoming comm. The screen instantly came to life with the image of a grizzled, dark haired Admiral staring daggers at the Merlin CO.

"Commander Barstow, I'm Admiral David Sedensy, stationed on Vulcan," the man started before drawing in a breath, "what the hell is going on out there?" the senior office demanded, sitting forward slightly.

John could hear voices in the background and a few demands about the Merlin, though he couldn't make out what the demands were, "nothing right now, sir. A few crew evaluations being done by our counseling department, we've gotten a few new officers and a few promotions. Just another day," he replied with a friendly smile, everything he'd mentioned really going on.

Sedensy gritted his teeth and John could see his jaw muscles flex, "don't get smart, Commander, you know damn well what I'm talking about. You used the Vulcans ship as a distraction to cut and run with artifacts from a downed Vulcan ship!"

"Oh, that," Apollo replied casually and leaned forward with his arms on his desk, "it seemed the best way to avoid a fight. Both the Vulcan and Romulan governments immediately showed up and demanded we leave the ship for them, I obliged."

David's eyes widened and his face started turning a light red, "you obliged and left them to fight it out, stealing the main artifact the were after," he growled, "you have no-"

"Admiral, they were people, not artifacts. We found four survivors and recovered three before being driven off by Romulan special forces. I assessed the situation and the diplomatic way out was to remove the the things causing the fight," John explained calmly, "right now we are trying to figure out what made both governments come after us when they only knew a ship name and nothing more."

The Admiral watched Barstow, "the Tri'jema is a Vulcan ship and those people will be returned to them," he ordered, "I want updates every hour and I want your full report by end of day."

Barstow could see the information about finding people on the ship setting in on the Admiral, "aye, sir. I do ask that it not be shared, we are still attempt-"

"Do it, Commander, Sedensky out."

As the screen went black Apollo sat back in his chair and sighed, what was so important about these survivors. He shook his head and moved to the sofa to lay down, something didn't feel right.
