Posted on Thursday 7 June 2018 @ 11:12 by Commander Save'ena (Sav) Tillatix & Lieutenant Colonel Kachiko Bayushi

Mission: Academy Days
Location: San Francisco Wharf District
Timeline: 2030 hours, September 2nd, 2389 SD65345.7
2348 words - 4.7 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

The club name in the gotten from the Girl's and Seniors was The Dancing Divito. It was even on the flyer that was handed out on Campus. The flyer, though, was found to have only been handed out to pretty, first year, female cadets. Older year cadets never were handed one, and those that managed to find one in a recycle bin had been told the trip was filled up, even though it clearly had not been until Sav and Rina had joined the outing at 1945 hours at their Dorm Room.

The address for the Dancing Divito was Pier 39, 240, San Francisco, CA 94133. There was no parking along the Pier, but bus service and taxi service ran along the main street called the Embarcadero. However, there was parking for police and investigative services just past the Wharf near the Ferry Service terminal just past Pier 39.

Several pedestrians were jolted out of their ruts when the armed and black uniformed Marine appeared in a haze of light. Looking down the length of the pier, Kachiko sighed.

The bar was down the way, past some warehouses and a couple of restaurants. The end of the dock was taken up by the well known Players Sports Bar, a gambling bar for sports with good food, live feeds, liqueur, but no dancing areas.

The Dancing Davito bar though, unusual for a Saturday night, was closed. The sign on the door showed 'Closed for Renovations'. Inside could be seen tools, supplies, old torn out stuff, and new stuff being put in. The new name sign just inside the locked door said 'Dancing Etiquette Saloon'.

"What the &$@*?" escaped the diminutive Jarhead. Arching an eyebrow, she turned back and headed for the administrative office.

The main wharf offices were still manned. As several businesses ran long hours, the offices were staffed for two shifts. While the Administrator office was closed, the Assistant Administration Office was open with the Assistant Manager inside.

Kachiko pushed through the swinging doors, "Captain Bayushi here to see whomever is in charge?"

He came from around his desk, holding out his hand, "Glad to meet you, Captain Bayushi. I'm Kevin Searstin, Assistant Manager. Please come in, have a seat. Any refreshments you would like, and may I ask what brings you to our wharf?"

"I am fine without anything, Mister Searstin. I came to investigate an incident at the Dancing Davito."

Kevin motioned to his receptionist to bring him coffee as he frowned slightly. "The Dancing Davito? Yeah, we have her on file. She is a strange club, to be sure. She is only open four days a year, Thursday through Sunday at about... this time. Which should be fortunate for you as she should be open now, if you want to go check her out yourself."

She shook her head. "Actually, she was closed for renovation and renaming," the Marine looked annoyed.

Kevin's face screwed up in a surprised expression. "Really? Already? Wow, last time that happened was... three years ago. Before that she was known as the Pirates Jaunty for ever, it seemed. Back before she was bought out... 2144 I believe, she was known as Beer 39." He opened his terminal and shifted it across his desk on a track that would allow Kachiko and him to see it at the same time. He brought up the files. "Hmph, I'll be danged. The owners filed permits at 0830 hours for club renovations and a name change. Last time that happened was three years ago, like I said before... but it is all on the up and up. Even has the Mayor's seal on it. Just, weird in that they didn't wait till Monday Morning, like most of the time."

"Sounds suspiciously like someone warned them of my investigation and the ongoing inquiry into some events this last weekend," the spritely woman did not sound amused. "I need ownership data in addition to all incident reports since it came under new ownership."!

Kevin smiled, "Yeah, I can get you that information, no problem. Right here it is. The club is owned by the exclusive Pacific-Union Gentleman's Club, and staffed by people hired by the exclusive Magnata Gentleman's Club. And, that would be why they can lease the property, pay the taxes, and only open the club for four nights a year. As those clubs are male only clubs for the rich and powerful, they are probably using this dance club as a tax writeoff. Heck, many politicians, diplomats, and StarFleet Brass are members of the Magnata Club, while the Pacific-Union Club has many affluent judges, Local Politicians, Company Owners, and the like as their members."

Kachiko well knew the clubs mentioned, "Those clubs are on the no-go list for cadets. I will have to update the list with this new named club. Especially after what has been taking place down there. I need what information you have regarding the Magnata Club and Pacific-Union."

Kevin sighed as he said, "I really don't have anything. My manager normally handles this file, I only got access to what we see as your credentials allowed me to access it for your investigation, so this is all new to me."

He suddenly snorted in humor as he said, "Hey, I just remembered another strange thing: they lease a yacht every Thursday through Sunday for the Dance club, at an exorbitant fee for full use and give the normal crew the days off." He shook his head, "Now I know how they can afford to outright lease a yacht at half purchase price every Thursday through Sunday they are open. The yacht always leaves in the middle of the night Saturday morning and then come back on Sunday late afternoon with a bevy of sweet young Cadet ladies with some older Cadet males about them. Those older Cadet guys are always bragging to those working the wharf about their conquests with the ladies and the game they play to get clothes off the ladies."

Now Kachiko stood suddenly," I need every bit of information about that! "

Kevin was surprised by her standing and her words. Then, he sighed as he said, "Sorry, I've only heard the rumors from workers. What they say, though, is that those cadet guys get the girls into the national forest at the beachhead, miles from any civilization. They play a game called... SSH... umm, yeah, Survival Snipe Hunting. They exchange items of survival for clothing, then help the girls out... and I guess, getting lucky with them during the game. They brag, a lot, and I guess that's all good as that gets them marks with those highfalutin exclusive Gentleman's clubs that own the dance bar."

"I need that file and may need your testimony," the still standing Marine said.

Kevin shook his head, and said, "I wish I could testify, but unfortunately, its all hearsay and rumors, so nothing really for you, except to know what goes on. I know none of the guys on the warf will say anything.. they don't want to lose their jobs. Nothing else really I can help.. you.. wait, there is that incident three years ago.... something about the academy.. let me look.. here it is."

On the screen it showed a small news item about a first year female cadet falling off of a yacht crewed by bar personnel and 12 senior Male Cadets. She had been sleepwalking. The hospital records had been sealed by order of Judge Samual Kennedy in pertaining to something of a sensitive issue for the Cadet, whose name wasn't even released. Kevin frowned as he read along with Kachiko, then he said, "That is weird, her name not being released, especially as she is not a child. Anyways, the yacht now adds hemp rope to its manifest whenever the dance club leases it, I guess to ring the yacht to prevent other ladies from falling overboard."

"More like to secure their prey before violating them," Kachiko growled. "Get me a copy of the article and I can access academy records to find out who was involved."

Kevin looked confused, then he replied, "Yeah, sure, I can transfer a copy right now to your Padd." He looked at the article, then back to Kachiko, "But, I do need to add, I've never heard of any rapes, or the girls saying anything about rapes over the grapevine. From everything I have gathered through the workers, the conquests always occur during the two day weekend excursion, some ladies coming back as 'the ones who got away,' again, according to the conquests." He blushed and added, "I have always felt a little envious of those guys getting lucky all the time with the ladies... and have followed along a lot since becoming a manager twelve years ago." He shook his head, "But if forced violations is involved, not right. I'll help in whatever way I can."

"I can't say much, but roofies are suspected to be involved," Kachiko sighed. "I greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer. We need it, especially considering some of the influential parents involved."

Kevin's face showed astonishment. He mouthed, "Roofies?" He looked back at the screen, then to Kachiko. "Mm'kay, why would you need roofies for drinking, dancing, then going out on a weekend excursion? That doesn't make any sense." His eyes lit up, "Hey, let's check the literature for the event. As the club prints it for the cadets, we have those on file. We can look at how they advertise those weekend campouts." He quickly checked the dance clubs folders, but didn't find anything. His face screwed up, "That's weird... missing."

Kachiko rolled her eyes, "That seems to be the norm in this case. There are a lot of very powerful people connected to this."

Kevin snorted out in humor, "Yeah, with those two exclusive clubs behind it, more than likely." His expression brightened as he thought of something. He stated, "You know how I said I have been following along for twelve years?" He swiveled his chair around and opened a bottom filing drawer. He swiveled back around and laid down a stack of Academy Event Flyers. "Here we go, the event flyers I have been collecting in during that time. Hard copies cannot be misplaced or deleted if not known about like computer files."

Kachiko nodded at his initial question, before looking down at the array of paper flyers spread out on the desk.

The flyers showed an official Academy Seal and the Event name: ''Welcome to the Academy' Dance Outing', sponsored by 'Plutocrat Senior Cadet Club', dates on each showing the first Friday of September for each of the 12 years. The flyer had a picture that showed a stylized dance floor with a couple dancing and two couples drinking. Across the feet of the dancers was two different club names, seven showing Pirates Jaunty, three showing Dancing Davito, The wording underneath the picture was: 'Welcome Ladies, come join in with Senior Cadets for a night of frolicking play of Dancing and Drinking. The Senior Cadets will be your chaperones, pay for all drinks and snacks, and make sure you can enjoy yourselves and you will get back to your dorm safe and sound after the entertainment is completed.' Max outing limit '12 First Year Cadets'. Officially sponsor seals were by the StarFleet Academy Cadet Events Center and the Starfleet Academy Command Club.

Kevin scrunched up his face as looked over the front of each, then over the back. He shook his head as he stated, "All I see is one night dancing. There is no mention of a camp-out that would extend through the weekend, or of a game of 'Survival Snipe Hunting'. I mean, I don't think most girls would agree to such a game unless they were already stuck... there.... and, hrmph.. why roofies. Doesn't explain the rope though."

"Not all species are as affected by the sedation as are humans," Kachiko grimaced. "Last thing an amorous rapist wants is for his Vulcan cutie victim to wake up while he has his pants down and beat him to a pulp. Especially for those species with greater than human strength, like Vulcans."

Kevin blinked in surprise at Kachiko's words. He replied, "Yeah, yeah, I hadn't thought of that. But, if rape was involved, wouldn't some one have reported it? Especially a Vulcan? Still, that would definitely be one use for the rope."

"You mind if I scan these into evidence?" the small and angry woman asked.

Kevin answered, "Yes, please, take all the pictures you want, especially as they seem to be missing from the Dancing Davito's files. And, as expected, seven say Pirates Jaunty, three say Dancing Davito. And, now, soon to be Dancing Etiquette Saloon next year." He finished his cup of coffee and said, "And, that is about it. I hope this helps you in your investigation. If something like this is happening at that club, it needs shut down."

Kachiko grinned, "You have been a great help, Kevin. You have an investigators mind. Should you ever get bored here, I imagine that Vice Admiral Chen would love to employ you."

Kevin raised an eyebrow as he mused over what she just said. He smiled and replied, "You know, I just might take you up on that. It would be a welcome change from this place, and, put my skillset to better use. I took this job for helping my brother out, and that was fulfilled a couple of years ago. Nothing holding me here except lack of a better offer..."

"I will bring it up with her tomorrow. Mind you, she is the Director of Starfleet Intelligence and it could be a potentially very dangerous occupation," Kachiko noted, for his own sake. He deserved to know what he could be getting into.

Kevin stood up and offered his hand. "Dangerous I can take. Have a care, Detective. Good luck, and hopefully see you soon."
