Save'ena - Weekend Excursion - Part 9: Classes Completed

Posted on Monday 2 July 2018 @ 08:00 by Commander Save'ena (Sav) Tillatix & Lieutenant Colonel Kachiko Bayushi

Mission: Academy Days
Location: San Francisco Star Fleet Academy Administration Center
Timeline: 0850 Hours, Thursday, December 14th, 2389

ON:

Sav walked the now very familiar walk through the Administration Center. Every three weeks she had dutifully came to the counseling offices to have her progress checked upon by designated counselors who always reported to Commander Trouyian their opinions on Sav's progress through the Anger Management and Self Control classes. This was the fourth and final time, with Captain Bayushi by her side.

Even though a lot of the class information was geared towards Terran style humanoid thinking and social structure, Sav was still able to get some valuable insights into helping her control her protective and self preservation natures. She applied the three challenge rule, which seemed good for all, and then trained herself to act in self preservation only if her body went into full hiding and protection. By doing these steps, and keeping herself more accepting of other's whims, she was able to pass both courses and their finals. She hated to have to accept that what happened with the seniors could possibly have went another way, when it truthfully didn't, but the counselors would not let her by that sticky point until she accepted the possibility that it could have been furtherance imagination on her part, which, as possibility meant anything could be, she had to accept.

Now, though, was her final evaluation by Commander Trouyian. Sav looked up and realized Kachiko and she were outside the counselor's area were Commander Trouyian had his office. She must have been standing there for a minute or more, so she smiled to Kachiko and said, "Sorry, Captain Bayushi. I spaced out for a second. I was just thinking about my classes and now I am here for my final evaluation." She expelled a breath in humor, then continued, "While geared towards Terran and Andorian thinking and social processes, I actually found some gems of wisdom that applied to me.. so, here I am... we are."

"This could be the end of this ordeal for you, Cadet," Kachiko smiled. They were in public and she had to treat Sav as a junior, not a friend.

Sav's tail shook twice in affirmation, "I won't let you down, Captain Bayushi. I'm ready."

The two entered the offices and approached Counselor Aide Senior Chief Debra Hodgekins. Debbie smiled as she saw the two. She had taken a liking to the young Alien Cadet who had been coming every three weeks. While subdued around the counselors, she was actually a joy to talk with when not involved with them and she had such a wonderful background sound behind her voice that made Debbie happy to hear it. "Morning, Cadet Tillatix, Captain Bayushi. How are you two doing this morning?"

"Hey Senior Chief," Kachiko found that she liked this older woman. Calming and yet very firmly in control of the room. Just like most senior enlisted Kachiko had worked with. "Hopefully this is the last time we will need to be here, not that the company is all that bad."

Debbie gently giggled in humor and replied, "Thank you, and ditto." Now, she had to get down to business. She now stated, "As this is the final evaluation, things will work a little different this morning. Cadet Tillatix, please have a seat. Captain Bayushi, please go back and see Commander Trouyian. He needs to talk with you before performing his final eval of Cadet Tillatix." She glanced at Sav, giving her a smile and a nod, to let Sav know this was standard, even though it wasn't. She did not like what was being planned, but had to go along with it.

Kachiko nodded, frowning a second before she pat Sav's arm # "I will be back briefly, Cadet."

Sav smiled and replied, "Understood, Ma'am." She watched Kachiko go down the corridor to Commander Trouyian's office door, then took a seat for herself, slightly sideways, so her tail had its own 'seat'.

Erik opened the door and smiled to see Kachiko. "Captain Bayushi, punctual as always. Please, come in, come in."

Kachiko felt slightly unnerved by the man's smile, having very little trust in Counselors herself. Stepping into the office, she offered a blank face, a trick she had learned coping with her newfound telepathic talent on Vulcan.

Erik led the way over to two chairs before a monitor screen with tables beside the two chairs. He sat down into one, saying, "Please, have a seat. We are almost set for Cadet Tillatix's final eval. As soon as Lt. Rebecca Stilstein arrives in the waiting area, we will be ready to proceed." He placed a Padd and a writing instrument beside it onto his table as the Monitor lit up and showed the Waiting Area with Sav patiently waiting sideways on a chair.

A yeoman came in with a refreshment tray to hand out drinks. Erik gladly accepted a coffee, took a sip, glanced at Kachiko, "Any refreshment for you?"

Kachiko shook her head, "Nothing for me, thank you."

After the yeoman was gone, Erik stated, "While what is said in counseling is between a counselor and the patient, there are a couple of things I can share with you and why for this unorthodox arrangement. While Cadet Tillatix passed the courses, her physiological thinking structure is different than what the classes are molded for. Hence, while she passed, a couple of counselors are not sure if she truly passed. The tell-tales found in most humanoid races are not to be found with her. So, either she passed very well, or she failed utterly and we just don't know."

Kachiko nodded, "She has internal conflicts that even I can't access. Though she has been very controlled as of late."

"What were you planning?" Kachiko asked.

Erik nodded his head towards the monitor, "Well, I have a character actor coming in to 'press' Tillatix's buttons, as it were. This will be monitored by us, and by counselor Lt. Rebecca Stilstein, who will be coming into the waiting room in civies about any... there she is." On the monitor, a female Bajoran came into the room, checked in with Debbie, then took a seat. Erik now stated, "Okay, Creed Johanson should be coming in any time. He has been given full latitude in this situation, but is not to get to the three strike rule. Let's see if Tillatix passes muster or not."

A scruffy guy wearing civilian contractor garb came into the room. He was 7 feet tall, had a full beard, definitely had a build to him, and looked like a protagonist from many a slasher flick or mystery. Erik remarked, "Okay, a little more intimidating than I thought, but should work. We need to see if Cadet Tillatix remains in control, or lashes out."

"Did you actually want this guy to get hurt?" Kachiko asked, arching an eyebrow inquisitively. "The Cadet is very adept with her claws and can move faster than anyone I know, save myself."

Erik tilted his head and said, "If she truly passed the courses, he won't be hurt. But, if she truly failed, he is wearing special body armor under his clothes, he'll be fine, but she won't as she will be discharged. Now, for the test..."

Creed checked in with Debbie, looked around, then came and settled down right next to Sav, getting into her tail space. She looked up at him in astonishment, then dutifully moved to the next seat over to give her tail space. Erik made a note and kept watching. While Creed kept his voice low so only Sav could hear, Erik had sensors pointed into that area so Kachiko and he could hear what was being said.

Creed's words were at first asking about Sav and why she was there, even though more forceful than polite, showing an Alpha personality male with an interest in a female. Sav dutifully deflected the questions, letting this guy know she was not interested by not furthering the conversation. Erik made notes again.

Now Creed switched tactics. He began making comments about Sav's figure, form, and being a female. That said, he furthered his speech into sexual innuendo and comments about him being a real man and he could show her such good times and how it meant to be female. Sav, at her end, seemed to deflate a little and her demeanor showed sadness. Erik looked confused as he took notes and said to Kachiko, "That is strange, she seems to be embarrassed and forlorn, not what I expected. Her race is definitely strange in its reactions, for sure."

Kachiko had felt her ire rise, not liking what they were putting her young charge through.

Creed became more assertive and aggressive. Sav kept spurning his advances, letting him know she was not interested and to please change seats. Sav now got up and moved to another seat, but Creed followed and sat down right next to her opposite her tail. Sav looked up with consternation and some fright. Erik made notes and stated, "Okay, that is what I was looking for." He glanced at Kachiko and said, "Okay, final part of the test is coming up. Be prepared Marine, you have faced much worse."

Kachiko found herself getting angry with the Counselor now. She didn't like what he was doing to Save'ena, but she retained the blank and emotionless mien as she watched on.

Creed put a hand upon Sav's knee. She picked it up and put it back to his lap. He did it again while whispering intents for parking with her, and she shook her head and moved his hand back to his lap. He did it a third time and she batted away his hand with the back of hers and vehemently shook her head, saying "No, I am not interested, understood, sir? Please move to another seat." Erik leaned forward with his Padd in his hand, whispering to himself, "And, here comes the final test."

Now Kachiko was finding herself surprised at Sav's self-control. This test was a bit overboard and she was dutifully impressed at the Cadet's progress.

Creed drew a hand back and slapped Sav across her muzzle, hard, then leaned in to whisper to her he would not take no for answer and she would be his. While this occurred, Erik split the screen into three to zoom in on Sav's face, hands, and feet. However, not even a shift of muscles occurred to show that Sav was extending her claws. She stood up and took a pace back from him, saying, "No, I am not yours. Please, do not strike me again, I am more than capable of defending myself. Now, if you excuse me..." She walked over to stand by Debbie at the reception desk and went into parade rest.

Erik kept the video sensors zoomed in, then nodded, suitably impressed. He remarked, "And, that is that. No hint of the claws, whatsoever, and while she had shown a little anger at the end, she was fully in control and defused the situation in a correct and proper manner." He turned to Kachiko, "Okay, ready to go out so I can apologize to Cadet Tillatix for the slap, and to let her know that was her final test, she passed, and will remain in the Academy?"

Kachiko turned her hard blue gaze to the Counselor and in a cold voice, "Fair warning. I would have had Mister Johnson on his face with his arm behind his back, painfully, had I been the one slapped. Even if he's that much bigger than I."

Erik let out a breath, then said, "And, he would be alive, not harmed, and that would also have been a proper response." He got up and headed to the door. "That is the crux, Captain. We had to make sure that any other altercations with Cadets, civilians, and future ship crew would not result in them getting clawed, unless it is actually a situation of life and death. What happened to her in the waiting room is a fair precedent for what is out there, and she passed." He opened the door for Kachiko, then followed out into hallway and towards the waiting area.

As Kachiko and Erik came into the waiting room, Sav came out of Parade Rest and to attention. She waited to be addressed by the counselor and was surprised to see him go by her and to the scoundrel still ogling her. Creed stood up and Erik shook his hand, saying, "Job well done, Mister Johanson. Tell the agency you did splendidly, and were more intimidating than my original request. I look forward to working with you in the future."

Creed smiled and replied, "Thank you for the assignment. It was interesting, to say the least." He turned to face Sav and said, "Cadet Tillatix, I am very aware what I was doing was wrong and invading your space. But, the assignment by Counselor Trouyian and Admiral Kennedy stated to really go after you but not cross the three strikes line to make sure you could handle yourself. I am very glad to see you did. Please, take care, and realize I am not this way, it is the character played that is this way." With that, he tilted his hat and left the room.

Erik looked flustered and said, "Admiral Kennedy stated?", but Creed was already gone. Lt. Rebecca Stilstein came over and said, "Yes, Vice Admiral Kennedy wanted to make sure this Cadet would not make imagined accusations against Creed, and future encounters with Cadets. I was here to make sure Mister Johanson followed his orders and verified Cadet Tillatix (she spat Sav's name out) followed proper protocol. She did. Now," She turned to Sav and said, "Do you want to make false accusations against Mister Johanson now that you know it was part of the test?"

Sav eyed Rebecca through slitted eyes. All of this was ringing wrongly with her, but yet, there was the academy, its graduation, and her needing to be in it. She shook her head and stated, "No, no false accusations, no false witness, I have never done such, and I never will. The test is done, I have passed, and I remain in the Academy, yes?"

Rebecca cursed under her breath and said, "Yes, by your actions and demeanor, you remain in the academy against the wishes of Vice Admiral Kennedy." She glowered at Sav and said, "We are watching you, always, got it?"

Erik was slightly shocked as he watched the interchange between Lt. Stilstein and Cadet Tillatix. Much more was happening than he was privy to. He shouted out, "Enough, Counselor Stilstein. Cadet Tillatix passed more than the original test parameters stated, and did it with flying colors. Leave here now, and come back in two days time with why you acted in this way, dismissed."

Erik came up to Sav and bowed slightly to her. He now stated, "My apologies for the innuendos and the slap, but it had to be done. As you were not under a life or death situation, you did not bare you claws, and you reacted in a proper way to diffuse the situation, you have passed the final evaluation tests and remain in the academy. Relax, Cadet Tillatix, you did a great job."

Sav was still very wary of Erik as she came up to shake his hand. After this, she turned to Kachiko and said, "Ma'am, I'm ready to be escorted to the final classes for the semester, if you would be so kind."

Kachiko nodded, "Of course, Cadet. I imagine that you won't miss this building much?"

Sav shook her head while saying, "Nope, not at all." She was still too ruffled to churr at the moment and really just wanted to be away from here. Two of the three counselors she had seen over the class time were like Lt. Stilstein, with full knowledge of what happened to her on Apollonia and making it their life mission to try and get her out of the academy. However, as all was counselor/patient confidentiality, she couldn't say anything to Kachiko about it, but maybe, now that Stilstein had tipped her hand, Kachiko would look into it.

Erik watched the two leave, then returned to his office. He was beginning to doubt some of what his staff counselors were returning for findings against Cadet Tillatix, but still had to go with them. Thus, his final entry into her service record was thus:

==== Counselor's Notes - December 14th, 2389 ====

Freshman Cadet Saveena A. Tillatix has completed the assigned classes. She has handed over the requested essays and summaries and they have all passed psych eval testing. She has finally admitted that events could have occurred as the seniors said it happened as the freshmen classmen were all waking up from hangovers from too much to drink.

On the anger management and self control, a valid test, for which I apologized later for, was to have a civilian come in and taunt her in the waiting room, and to slap her. She did not show anger and her rather sharp climbing claws never left their sheaths in her hands or feet. This was monitored by Lt. Rebecca Stilstein in reception.

While she has passed, and she is showing remarkable improvement, I would still recommend watching her for any other signs of emotional distress, or any signs of this vivid imagination to reality she has a perchance for. However, I would say that a stint in the Academy and Starfleet will do her good on that score.

NOTE: She does seem to have some trepidation about those in positions of high power, such as Admiralty, Aristocrats, and Dignitaries. She seems to have some fear of me, but that is very likely due to that her staying at the Academy rests within what my reports say.

==== End Addendum ====

After they were away from the Counselor Offices, Sav turned to Kachiko and said, "Ma'am, I hope I followed proper decorum and proper protocol in dealing with the hired actor. I did no damage, and removed myself from the situation. Soooo, am I still confined to campus?"

The Marine Officer shrugged, "That's not up to me, sweetie. That decision is up to Vice Admiral Chen, which she will make after reviewing the Counselor's report."

Sav nodded as she really didn't expect any other answer, her question based on the possibility of the confinement already lifted. But, then again, how could it when Vice Admiral Chen did not have the final reports from Counseling? She glanced at Kachiko, then asked, "Will you submit a report on your findings Ma'am, or will it be just the counselors?"

The diminutive Academic Advisor grimaced, "There's going to be a lot of paperwork and research for me, tonight. For instance, I will be investigating Vice Admiral Kennedy's improper command influence in your counseling. It's become quite obvious that this corruption we're seeing extends pretty far up the chain. Vice Admiral Chen won't be pleased."

"Regarding you, I will be offering the Admiral my report in the morning. I will be reporting that I have watched you grow over the past couple of months and that I think you will be a fine officer," Kachiko smiled to herself. She was pleased that she was able to ensure her charge was able to get through this life trial and would continue her training.

Sav breathed a sigh of relief even as her voice held relief tonals as she said, "Thank you for that, Captain Bayushi. That is all I wish for, to be known that the bias of two of the counselors has colored the lead counselor's notes. Thank you."

Kachiko shook her head, "I wouldn't be so hasty, doll. Counselor Trouyian's report was largely complete before the other Counselor's submitted their own. You have something going on that you don't know about or that something is keeping you from telling me about. I can sense it in you quite often."

Sav sighed. She looked at Kachiko, a forlornness easily seen upon her facial, whisker, and ear expressions. She replied, "Yeah, but, at least I am still in the Academy. On my knowing.. you have heard what I must say according to the edicts and decree by the Court of Apollonia and the Honored Counselors of the Esteemed StarFleet Strom Thurman Medical Research Center." She added in a choked, smaller voice, "Sorry."
