Personal History | Jacob Carson is another El Aurian refuge from when the Borg massacred his people. When he was transported to Earth, he started looking into its history and myths which fascinated him. He studied at Oxford University, gaining a doctorate in medieval history. He expanded his research to include other races. He has written several papers on the topic which led to Starfleet taking an interest in his work. He moved to San Francisco to be closer to Starfleet Headquarters and Academy where he took a teaching post. Starfleet came to him to conduct an extensive field study after a first contact was made with the Yridians, who were thought to be extinct and Carson spent 5 years bringing back to the Federation a wealth of information on the history mythology of the culture. Due to the comprehensive and high quality of his work, he has been called in as expert and has resulted in him being consulted on many first contact situations when historical knowledge was crucial to the success of the mission. He is well traveled, taking a sabbatical after the Federation - Dominion war visiting most planets that compose the Federation. Carson decided to return to Starfleet after they requested his presence, however still wanting to travel decided that a position on a starship would be preferable than remaining on Earth. |
