General Overview | Marika is not the typical Orion female. She was raised from infancy by Captain James Riley and his wife aboard the USS Conestoga, an exploratory vessel operating in the Beta Quadrant. Her mother taught her to be a lady, while her father taught her to be strong. She exudes both in any situation she finds herself in. | |
Strengths & Weaknesses | STRENGTHS: Confident Talented Speaks seven languages: French, Federation Standard, Andorian, Vulcan, Cardassian, Klingon, and Romulan (Rihannsu Common) Talented musician on the piano and the flute Very graceful on her feet, the result of years of dance instruction as well as combat instruction by her husband. WEAKNESSES: Her Orion biology consists of pheremones which cause males of most other species to be very susceptible to manipulation. It also causes headaches and unexplained hostility in females of the same species. She counteracts them with a special inhibitor drug that she takes monthly. Tends to be overprotective of her stepson. |

Medical Record
Personal History | Marika is likely not her real name. She was found adrift aboard a freighter just outside of Federation space by the USS Falchion alone in the arms of a deceased Orion female, likely her mother. Subsequent attempts to locate her family proved unfruitful, and so she was sent to Earth in the care of the Federation Child Protection Agency. Less than a year later she was adopted by Captain James Riley of the USS Conestoga and spent her entire childhood aboard that vessel. Her mom taught her to act like a lady, how to play the flute and the piano, and had her practice ballet every day after school on the holodeck. In her teenage years she took French in school, and picked it up so quickly that her teachers recommended she study xenolinguistics later in life, which would guide her career in the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps. Though she is a Captain's daughter, she had no desire to command a starship, finding that the job drove her father to age early and added stress that he didn't need to his life. So when she came of age she enlisted in Starfleet and chose the path of the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps. By then she already spoke High Vulcan and Andorian, which she learned from her friends T'Lann and Kaiya, the daughters of two of her father's officers that were her friends aboard the Conestoga. She trained as a Diplomatic Corpsman for Ambassador Duranik, a Caitian Federation diplomat to the Klingon Empire. She spent two years on Qo'nos and picked up Klingonese there. When the Dominion War broke out Duranik spent time trying to arrange an alliance with the Romulans, and so she was sent to the Academy to learn Romulan in the Xenolinguistics department. As Romulan was an evolved form of Vulcan she learned the language in a couple of months, and so she was sent back to the ambassador. After the war ended she was reassigned to the Cardassia sector under Ambassador Karlik and learned the language from some of the refugees she interviewed for possible employment as helpers to the diplomatic mission. After a year on Cardassia Prime she was sent to Earth, where she was loaned out to Starfleet Intelligence as a language instructor. She was posted at the Intelligence Training Center in California near Camp Hathcock, where she met her future husband, Gunnery Sergeant Alexander Beck, a Marine scout sniper and widowed father. After a whirlwind courtship the two married with her adopted father giving her away. When he requested a starship assignment she applied also, hoping they she could stay with them. |
