Personality & Traits
General Overview | • Gull is gregarious and outgoing, typically laughing and smiling and enjoying a good drink with good friends, telling stories of his various adventures in Starfleet. • A Klingon once told him he'd have made a good Klingon Warrior, and the comparison wasn't too far off being accurate. He just isn’t as violent. |
|
Strengths & Weaknesses | • Gull is a hard worker, a dedicated friend, and an unstoppable force when he puts his mind to something. He gets the job done, and he gets it done well. He is a natural born leader, and fiercely loyal. • The problem, is that his drive can often cause him to forget to enjoy life like he needs to. In addition to that, he takes failure more deeply than most. He also has a hard time following orders from time to time, his need to compete overruling his need to comply at times. |
|
Ambitions | • Up until his admission to Starfleet Academy, his main ambition in life had always been to become a Starfleet officer. Once that ambition had been achieved, Gull wanted to become a Chief Engineering Officer of a starship. | |
Hobbies & Interests | • Gull likes to rock climb, hang-glide, and practice archery in his spare time. He's also been running a holoprogram for quite a while; trying to get an old Earth hot rod working again. The mechanics and engineering of such an ancient vehicle fascinates him. |

Personal History | Gull was born in New Chicago, Luna in 2365 to Jason and Vivienne Chester. His parents owned one of the most popular pizzeria restaurants in the city, and they opened a second restaurant in San Francisco, Earth soon after Gull was born. Gull grew up in the shadow of Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy. This had a massive impact on his development, especially as a teenager. He would spend hours after school watching the shuttles and come and go. Knowing he wanted a career in Starfleet, he volunteered at the local shuttle maintenance yard for some work experience. The work experience, along with strong grades from high school, meant he was able to successfully apply to the Academy when he turned 18 years old. His time at the Academy was not straight forward. He was relatively academic, but he failed two essays in his second year and his final essay of the third year. Thankfully he was given the opportunity to retake them, and passed them all with distinction. Following his graduation, Gull gained a position onboard the USS Alabama as its Warp Core Specialist. He worked hard during his time on the intrepid-class starship, and gained a wealth of knowledge about the inner workings of a starship. Despite his official title, Gull was inevitably dragged into all manner of missions and work assignments. After two years Gull applied for a role on the USS James Madison as its Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. Unfortunately, he was not successful. But Captain Jennifer McClaren offered him a position as an engineering officer. This was an opportunity that Gull grabbed with both hands. He spent two years on the ‘JM’, further growing his knowledge of engineering. When Gull heard that the assistant Chief Engineering Officer of the USS Industrious was being promoted to a CEO on a different ship, he sent an application to Captain Dorian Walsh almost immediately. His four years of experience and knowledge shined through in his application, and Captain Walsh offered Gull the post. Gull stepped up to the challenge of being ACEO during his time on the Industrious. He had impressed his department head throughout the three years that he was onboard. Gull had proved himself to be a more than capable officer, and one heck of an engineering with a bright career ahead of him. When an opportunity to join the USS Merlin presented itself to him, he knew that he would need to move ships if he was to progress in position and possibly rank. However, he had found it to be a tough decision to make. He had made friends while onboard the Industrious, some that he come to consider as family. In the end, Gull transferred for the good of his career. |
