Timeline: 11 Years Ago, 1 day after Act I
703 words - 1.4 OF Standard Post Measure

"Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck, Some nights, I call it a draw. Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle, Some nights, I wish they'd just fall off" - Fun., "Some Nights"

Not to say there was a 'nice part' of the New Sydney Colony, but Stephanie currently found herself in the worst of the worst part. She was beginning to think the knife in her boot and Type One Starfleet phaser in her pocket weren't going to be enough to keep her safe here. The weapon was a 'gift' from Bokar. She couldn't refuse it... But she had never used it. It sat in a locked box under her bed that she had long since lost the key for.

She entered an establishment that was identified only as 'Bar' by the sign on the front, and walked straight up to the bar, ignoring the patrons who were looking at her like a sandwich... Some because they were having impure thoughts, and some because they actually though she was on the menu.

There was an Andorian tending bar and he twitched his antennae and peered at her through narrowed eyes as she approached. "You're a little young to be hanging out in a place like this, aren't you?"

"Ya know," Stephanie began. "I'm really sick o' people sayin' that t' me," She soured and put a 50 credit note on the bar. She put her index finger on it and began sliding it toward him. . "I'm lookin' fer Gralth."

The Andorian looked at the note then back up at the girl, but said nothing and made no move to take the money.

"C'mon," Stephanie said in a conversational tone. "Be th' easiest 50 credits you made all day."

The Andorian said a lot more of nothing but seemed to be considering it. "No Trouble, I promise." She tried her best to sound reassuring.

After a few moments, the Andorian reached out for the note and pointed to a booth in the back corner.

A Tellarite that looked suspiciously a great deal like the one that trashed the O'Hara's bar yesterday was sitting in a booth, flanked by a Klingon and a Naussican. She sat down across from them.

Gralth looked her over and grinned. "Young Miss O'Hara," He began in a tone that one would use with an old friend. "To what do we owe the pleasure?" He was clearly amused by her being here. "Bokar has been looking for you."

"I know," Stephanie glared at Gralth. "But whatever Bokar wants wit' me, he can come t' me an' talk. Th' deal between him an' I has nothin' t' do with m' parents." She tried her best to sound intimidating, or at least a more sure of herself than she actually felt. "I wan' ya t' leave 'em alone, Gralth."

"My my... What lies have your mother and father been telling you," Grath said, sounding a touch disappointed. "The damage to their establishment was a result of a deal between your father and Bokar. It had nothing to do with you."

Color rose in Stephanie's cheeks and her mouth twisted into a frown... "Why that lyin' sack o' shite..." Stephanie began and clenched her teeth before she said anything else. "My apologies, Gralth. I'll be on my way." She stood to leave.

As she rose, Gralth said "Not so fast, missy," The Klingon and Naussiccan stood.

As she sat back down, the other two followed suit. Gralth continued. "Bokar still wants what you promised him." He raised a handheld comm unit. Stephanie recognized it as the model that the New Sydney Security forces use. He keyed the transmitter and it screamed "SOUEE PIG!" Gralth let the sound fade away and fixed Stephanie with a stare. "If you have time to play pranks on the cops, there's no excuse for making us come to find you."

"He'll have it. I still have a week left."

"You do not," Gralth said. "Bokar wants it tomorrow."

"Then I'd better get t' work," Stephanie said and stood again. "If you gentlemen will excuse me..."

No one made a move to stop her this time.
