Sansa had had a quick read of the message she had received from Fay and she realised that Mathias would also like to hear what was going on. Not only that but there was a small section of the message at the end that was specifically for Mathias from Abigale.
knowing the puppy could do with the walk she Put Belle on her lead and with PADD in her other hand, she set off for Mathias's quarters.
When she got there, she pressed the chime.
Mathias answered, and smiled seeing Sansa. "Ah good afternoon, Sansa." there was several flecks of wood shaving on the front of his tee shirt, which he opted to wear when working on his crafts. "Come in, come in. don't mind the mess, I'm just working on a project of mine." leading the way inside. "Would you like some tea or other sort of drink?"
There was a tarp on the floor, the table which is part of the room's decor was pushed aside and in the centre was what looked to be like a cradle, with wood shavings on the floor. There was another one that was finished over beside the wall.
"Hi Mathias, Tea would be nice please." She bent down and picked up her puppy with her free hand and came inside. "I hope you don't mind I brought a friend. This is Belle. Hayley got her for me. She needed a little walk" She held up the little pup as she sat down on Mathias' sofa. "I also brought this." She indicated the PADD. "It's a message from Fay and there's a bit at the end for you from Abigale."
Mathias gave a nod and went to fetch some tea, "She is a beauty, Belle is. Forgive the mess, I'm making something for your mom, well that is..." he stopped and then said. "Fay sent a message, and so did Abigale? I was wondering just how they were doing."
Sansa started reading the PADD. "Hello Sansa and Mathias. I have arrived home safely and Abigale is now enjoying our hospitality in the Etheria. I wanted to say how much I appreciated you looking after me and both of you hold a special place in my thoughts. Owan and Tann have also added their thanks for taking care of me and you are both welcome here any time where you will be treated as most important people. There are also plans for me to be able to leave our planet again so hopefully, I will be able to come and visit you again. Oh!" she looked surprised "I wonder who's she going to get to volunteer as host this time?" Sansa continued "My time spent with you was of great educational value and the rest of my people were very interested in hearing about my experiences." Sansa blushed slightly "I wonder how much details she went into when describing my interactions with Hayley?"
Mathias listened to the letter from Fay, had an amused expression on his face. "Well, you did share a body and you did get to know her fairly well that she did... overshare at times?"
She went on. "My people had not even considered physical intimacy, or even if it was possible in the Etheria but after my experiences observing both you and Hayley and Mathias and Abigale, several changes and enhancements were made to the Etheria and I persuaded Tann to try and..... Oh my!" Sansa turned bright red as she read silently. "She really does get quite..... graphic in this part..."
"I see that she took my theory or suggestion, something like that, to wait until she got home with Tann." Mathias shook his head. "I had asked why they hadn't made corporeal bodies before."
After a moment of silence as Sansa composed herself "She concludes by saying I cannot thank you both enough for what you have done for me and my people and know I will always be in your debt and I hope we can meet again. Fay." Sansa handed the PADD over to Mathias "There's a message at the end from Abigale for you."
Mathias read the letter Abigale had written to him, it read.
"My dearest Mathias,
It was wonderful seeing you, even under the strange circumstances, of which we had in our brief, but. wonderful reunion. I didn't want to leave, but, I had my duties to perform. In my travel to Fay's world I had pondered the events that had happened. I will say I do love you. I had hoped that we could be together in the future. I wanted to come back and to claim you as my own. Then I realized something, I didn't see myself reflected in your eyes. They say the eyes are the windows of your soul, and I saw your soul and caught sight of your heart. You still have love for me, but it wasn't on the scale of which I had hoped. A woman does know when there is someone else whom you'd like to be your leading lady. I will always treasure the fact that I finally got to kiss you, almost swept you off your feet, but your damned strong moral code wouldn't let you be swayed into something else. I am actually grateful that you didn't falter, it would have tarnished my image of you, and actually would have ruined the special friendship we have, my faerie man. Yes, I believe that the blood of the fae runs through your veins, much like the blood of the sirens run through mine even if it is diluted. Be safe my beloved friend, but more than a friend, as our friendship is much more than just friends, but stops just below lover. Enjoy life, be well. Love, your forever Princess Mermaid."
Mathias felt tears welling up in his eyes, handing the padd to Sansa to read it. He didn't dare speak at the moment, as he was stunned with the letter.
Sansa's eyes were also filling up with tears. "That was so..." She moved closer to him and gave him a hug. "Mathias, are you ok?"
He nodded, and spoke softly, "I am now, she doesn't hate me. I had been so worried, I didn't want to destroy a friendship either. She had been, when I was younger, a knight in shining armor for me at times. We took turns, in watching out for one another." he wiped away the tear that escaped down his cheek, returning Sansa's embrace. His smile was brilliant like that of the noonday sun coming out from behind clouds. "I feel so relieved!" giving out a laugh.
Sansa started laughing too through the tears. She looked at him for a moment "You're such a sweetheart and a romantic. I'm sure you'll find someone out there that feels the same way."
"I am hoping I have found someone like that." his eyes sparkling as he thought about Caroline. "Just one step at a time, is all I can do. I worry I may mess up but, here is hoping that things will continue to move forward."
Sansa saw the look in his eyes when he spoke of this new person and smiled knowingly. "Ooohhhh, aren't you the honey dripper?" She learned in conspiratorially "Who's the lucky lady?"
"Lady Caroline." Mathias answered, with a shy smile. "I hope we can continue on in our friendship and maybe into something more."
Sansa raised an eyebrow. "Well well, you sly fox. Got the hots for Caroline eh? Well, who could blame you? She is a beauty and I know you'll treat her like a goddess. She's very lucky." Sansa finished her tea and said "Well, I suppose I better be getting back to my own Goddess. Thanks for the tea. I'll see you later?"
"She does make my heart sing." Mathias replied. "You are welcome, and yes that sounds good. Thank you again for bringing me the messages."
Sansa stood. "Anytime. Let me know if you're going to send a message back and I'll write something for Fay. Say hi to Caroline for me." She then looked at Belle. "Come on Sweetie, let's go home."
"I will certainly send you a return message to be sent to them. Thank you for stopping by, Now for me to get this cradle finished." Mathias giving a wave to Sansa and Belle, before he went back to work on the second cradle.
