A
Acetycholine: Biochemical substance; a neuro-transmitter that promotes the propagation of electrical impulses from one nerve cell to another in carbon-based life.
Adenosine: A naturally occurring chemical in most humanoids. When given rapidly in high concentrations this drug causes the heart to physically stop for several seconds, giving its organically hard wired pacemakers a chance to reset and resume a more normal rhythm.
ADTH: A substance which may be pumped through the life support systems of a starship as a fast-acting stimulant.
Alzine: A strong antibiotic usually administered in large doses to halt a histamic reaction.
Anesthezine: Commonly used on Federation starships and installations, including Deep Space 9, as a security measure, anesthezine is a sedative gas which renders anyone who breathes it unconscious. Most starships can flood all or selective parts of the ship with anesthezine in the event of a boarding action by an enemy.
The Dominion and Cardassian equivalent of anesthezine is neurazine. The effects of the two poisons are virtually identical.
Animazine: Stimulant drug.
Anticoagulant: Chemical that prevents the clotting of blood.
Anti-Hallucinogen: A drug prescribed to alleviate hallucinations and, at times, extraordinary psychokinetic powers.
Antiproton Radiation Theraphy: Used to ease the physical effects of Barclay's Protomorphosis Syndrome, as well as counteract hyper-evolution.
Arithrazine: Powerful pharmaceutical used to treat theta radiation poisoning.
Asinolythin: This substance is used as a pain-killer for muscle spasms.
Axinol: A powerful sedative. Can also be used as an anesthetic.
Azidotymidine-90: A revolutionary antiviral drug which helped eradicate many deadly viral illnesses on earth. It is very effective for most other naturally occurring viruses found on Federation member planets.
Azithromycine Monacetate: An antibiotic of the macrolide family, Useful in infections not responsive to other classes of drugs or in individuals with documented penicillin allergies.
B
Benjisidrine: An anti-arrhythmic used to regulate some heart conditions.
Benzocyatizine 24, 25, 39: A drug used by Trill doctors to stimulate falling isoboramine levels in joined Trills to avoid late rejection of the symbiont. It can be administered in small doses, approximately 2ccs for a crisis situation.
Bicaridine: An effective anti-inflammatory analgesic medicine that blocks most pain receptors in the typical humaniod brain. Given the encompassing effects, bicaridine is usually reserved for especially painful injuries and in post-surgical treatments. Species that are unresponsive to other analgesics like Metorapan or individuals with allergic reactions to them are usually prescribed this.
C
Cerebusian rejuvenator: A process using certain drugs and herbs that has been shown to reverse the effects of aging in some humanoids. It is a dangerous and painful treatment, usually taking two years to undergo. The reaction to the treatment is dependent on the individual being treated, especially on the DNA level. Rarely do Cerebusians allow alien species to undergo the treatment, and it is currently outlawed in the Federation pending further study.
Coradrenaline: A medication for exposure and hypothermia.
Chloromydride: A cardio-stimulatory drug used where inaprovaline is ineffective or may cause allergic reactions. It is usually used in concert with cardial and neural stimulators for additional benefits.
Cordrazine: A potent stimulant that will usually revive a stunned or unconscious patient completely, used in Starfleet medical practice since at least the 2260's. Cordrazine is "tricky stuff" - overdose can lead to delusional paranoia, and the drug is addictive. A dose of 25ccs is considered to be a deadly dosage. Just 1cc can bring someone to consciousness. It is usually used only as a last resort in life-threatening situations, as too much may cause a severe mental imbalance, irritability and paranoia.
Corophizine: A general purpose antibiotic. It has minimal side effects and is non-addictive.
Cortical analeptic: A cortical analeptic is a drug used to stimulate and promote healing in the cerebral cortex of humanoids. It is prescribed in both cases of diseases, such as Darnay's Disease, or trauma from an outside source.
Cortolin: Used to treat a wound inflicted by a compressor beam weapon.
Cortopine: A strong stimulant. It is often found in standard medkits.
Crediline: This drug makes the user more likely to believe anything that they are told. Its use has been superseded by more effective memory blockers.
Cyalodin: A deadly poison, it kills with great pain and leaves the victim with blue splotches.
D
Dalaphaline: A mild stimulant.
Delactovine: A common stimulant with few side effects. Most often used to stabilize a patient undergoing seizures or shock. It is mildly addictive.
Dermaline gel: A topical analgesic used to treat moderate-to-severe burns.
Desegranine 36: A drug used by the Obsidian Order to erase the memory block imposed on its agents in case of capture. It usually works within hours.
Dexalin: This is used to treat oxygen deprivation.
Dylamadon: This is a powerful neuro-inhibitor used for painless euthanasia.
Dyvolene: An anti-toxin.
E
F
Felicium: A powerful narcotic substance. Normal dosage is one-hundredth millimeter. Sold to the Ornarans by the Brekkians for hundreds of years as a "medicine."
Flaxian Multistage Poison: Well known throughout the Alpha Quadrant for their skills as assassins, the Flaxians count a plethora of poisons among their many sophisticated tools of death. This, the multistage poison, represents the height of the Flaxian poisoner's art. It comes in two or three "parts," no single piece dangerous by itself. Combining the parts, or administering them to the victim separately, creates a lethal poison.
Flaxian multistage poisons come in a variety of types. For example, the Flaxian assassin Retaya, who tried to kill Elim Garak on Deep Space 9 in 2371, posed as a perfume merchant. His "perfume samples case" contained three perfumes which, when mixed together, made a deadly gaseous poison. The Flaxian can also tailor multistage poisons to specific species if necessary, so that all the humans and Cardassians at the table could eat safely, but the Klingon would keel over and die after taking his first bite of dessert.
Formazine: A common stimulant that can cause irritability with prolonged use (more than three days). Otherwise, it has the same effects as delactovine.
G
Genericillin: A synthetically-produced antibiotic that has been found to treat a number of wide-ranging illnesses caused by bacteria or fungal infections. Because of its effectiveness on many different species, genericillian is a popular and widely-used drug. Many physicians and medical researchers use it as a base to develop many other infection-fighting medications.
H
Histamine: A biochemical substance produced by the breakdown of histidine, an amino acid found in humanoid tissues. The body produces histamine when it comes in contact with substances to which the body is sensitized, and is a primary factor in the humanoid allergic response.
Hypercoagulin: Stops bleeding very quickly. This is unnecessary when using anabolic protoplasers, although a version of this drug for localized use on wounds in the field may exist.
Hyronalyn: This medication protects against radiation sickness. One dose halves the effective amount of radiation received, and a second dose further halves that, and so on. Each dosage beyond the first risks hyronalyn poisoning, which could lead to permanent damage.
Hytritium: A highly unstable substance not carried onboard Federation vessels, but the only known substance capable of neutralizing poisonous tricyanate.
I
Immunosuppressant: A type of drug used to limit the response of the immune system in humanoids.
Inaprovaline: A cardio-stimulatory drug that can also be used to stabilize a weak but living patient's condition.
Inimizine: A caffeine-like substance, with similar effects.
Inpedrezine: A treatment used for cranial trauma, following up use of an osteogenic stimulator on the fracture. A typical dose is 2ccs.
Isoboramine: A neuro-transmitter-like chemical found in Trills that is essential to the link between host and symbiont.
J
K
Kayolane: This drug causes immediate unconsciousness and the patient will remain asleep for 1-6 hours.
Keltara Blue: Used primarily by assassins who favor a knife and/or throwing blade, Keltara Blue is an extremely lethal toxin. Its name comes from its distinctive blue color, which is easily visible when it's slathered on a blade. No known antidoe for Keltara Blue poisoning exists.
Kironide: Kironide is a chemical compound found in many of the plants on the planet Platonius. When sufficiently concentrated in the brain, kironide provides many humanoid species (including humans and Vulcans) with telekinetic abilities. The compound is absorbed naturally by eating native Platonian plants, but it requires years to build up a sufficient level of kironide in the body this way. Large doses of the refined compound can be injected directly into the bloodstream, having an effect in a matter of minutes.
While telekinesis is an extraordinarily useful ability, kironide has some serious drawbacks. The first is that direct injection of the compound (as opposed to building it up slowly over time) causes a shock to the body’s systems, which try to purge the compound. The effects of a kironide injection last for anywhere from 2-7 hours.
Regular use of kironide also causes erosion of the body’s natural immune system. Kironide users lose virtually all immunity to disease and infections. Even the slightest cut or an otherwise harmless illness can kill them. Although modern medical treatment can make up for deficiencies in the subject’s immune system, it cannot protect them entirely. Kironide users must live lives of isolation, surrounded by physicians to ensure their continued health.
L
Leporazine: A general resuscitative used to treat neural metaphasic shock.
Lexorin: A neurotransmitter inhibitor. This drug temporarily diminishes intelligence, but each dose also makes psychic and psionic intrusions harder. Lexorin can also calm excited or agitated patients. In greater dosages than 3 in 24 hours, the patient also begins to lose manual dexterity, as the central nervous system begins to lose control of voluntary functions. Lexorin is mildly addictive, and causes the patient to feel overconfident and happy.
Losorin: A drug used for a variety of slight-to-moderate psychological disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder and enantiodromia.
M
Magnesite-Nitron Tablet This small tablet, when crushed, provides emergency illumination and heat through a bright flame. Usually carried as part of an emergency medical field kit, the tablets could also be employed for ignition of a larger fire, heating of food or sterilization of water.
Masiform-D: A powerful stimulant, sometimes used to combat the effects of other drugs. Side-effect: stomachache.
Melanex: A depressant which causes a patient to lose consciousness. Found in most Federation medical facilities. Side-effect: may cause patient to turn a bright yellow hue, especially in the Vulcan species.
Melorazine: This drug causes immediate unconsciousness. The patient will remain asleep for 3-8 hours.
Memory Blockers: These are used to permanently block specific memories in a patient. This is useful if a patient has seen something unpleasant, or has been exposed to information that may violate the Prime Directive.
Memory-Beta: This drug stimulates the users memory. It allows the user to attempt to remember something that has been forgotten.
Metorapan: A typical "go-to" analgesic medication that is effective at distrupting pain signals peripherally to the brain. Because it works on a variety of humaniod species, it is a common painkiller. Side effects are slight and depend on the species being treated. Individuals allergic to metorapan are usually given Bicaridine.
Metrazine: Cardiac anti-arrhythmic. Similar to Benjisidrine.
Morathial: A general resuscitative used most often to treat neural metaphasic shock when a patient's blood pressure is too low to use the standard remedy, leporazine.
Morphazine: Puts patients into deep, dreamless sleep for 3-18 hours.
Mylar II: With reconstructive surgery it is possible to conceal a person's true race. However reconstructive surgery on an entire platoon or company is not always an option time or facilities wise. The drug, Mylar II, causes the top layers of skin and flesh to become more pliable. Thus with Mylar II injections a human could easily appear to be a Romulan or Vulcan. There is a limit to what these injections can do. A Mylar II Cardassian would take a few hours, be quite painful and require the use of some prosthetics. None of these disguises will fool a medical tricorder or a very detailed inspection. These disguises may also require some form of makeup to be complete.
N
Neo-Dextraline Solution: Used to treat dehydration.
Neurovine: This drug is an antidote for nerve poison.
Neurozine: Not to be confused with the nonlethal neurazine gas, neurozine is a lethal gaseous poison developed by the Cardassian Central Command for use in riot suppression. For example, the anti-riot systems on Terok Nor were equipped with neurozine in case the Bajoran slave workers got out of control.
O
Osmotic pressure therapy A series of protocols used to stabilize the osmotic pressure on a cell's membranes. Used to treat hemocythemia.
P
Peridaxon: A drug used to boost the cellular structure of nerves in the synaptic pathways of the brain. Used to treat, but not cure, irumodic syndrome.
Pheromones: Biochemicals secreted by many carbon based life forms, whose scent affects the behavior of other members of the same or similar species. Certain pheromones control the degree of sexual attractiveness attributed to an individual.
Purge: This drug cleanses the user's systems of foreign biochemicals, and neutralizes active drugs (including recreational drugs and alcohol) within minutes.
Q
R
Rage: This drug gives the user double strength and and berserker rage for 10-60 minutes. This drug is considered unethical by Federation standards.
Retinax 5: This drug restores the elasticity of the lens of the eye in humans, thus alleviating myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness).
Rexlin: This drug can be used as a tranquilizer, a pain killer and a sedative. All is depending on the dose administered.
Ryetalyn: The only known cure to Rigelian Fever.
S
Saurian virus antibodies: Injections of these antibodies not only inoculate against the Saurian virus, but also form the basis of a cure for auroral plague.
Scotoseium: A soduim-dramaticite compound developed by Dr. Leonard McCoy that can successfully treat some strains of the Psi 2000 virus.
Shaker: This is an experimental neurotransmitter enhancer which increases the patients health, strength and dexterity every 15 seconds, but decreases intelligence by a similar amount. Users also temporarily gain the overconfidence and a high pain threshold. This drug is considered unethical by the Federation.
Sleeper pills: Standard issue in most Federation medical facilities, they are strictly under the control of the Chief Medical Officer.
Somnozine: This common knockout poison was developed by an unscrupulous Ferengi pharmaceutical company when it tried to invent a better anaesthetic for certain surgical procedures. Sensing profit, the Ferengi began selling it on the black market when it proved unsuitable for medical uses. It can be fed to the victim, but more commonly is injected with a needle or other weapon.
Stokaline: A mild stimulant that will revive an unconscious or stunned patient. It has no major side effects and is non-addictive. However, patients quickly develop a tolerance to it. Each time stokaline is not effective, all future uses on that patient will be less. This effect is permanent and cumulative.
Strobolin: A naturally occurring drug used to cure choriocytosis.
Synaptic Induction: A process by which electric or electromagnetic pulses are introduced into the synaptic pathways of the brain in order to stimulate their repair or usage. This procedure is effective, or at least helpful, in the treatment of many diseases and disorders involving memory loss. A key piece of equipment used is the Synaptic inductor.
T
Thalazine: A regurgitant poison developed by the Bajoran resistance from the seeds of a native Bajoran plant, thalaine makes those who are exposed to it violently ill for a short period. While affected by it, most victims can do nothing but lie on the ground, moan, and retch - making them sitting ducks for attackers.
Toxins: A poisonous compound; a number of substances found on a starship can be toxic. Tetralubisol, a milky, highly volatile lubricant, is toxic. Phaser coolant is also toxic to most races.
Tricordrazine: A refined version of cordrazine that lacks the delusional paranoia side effects, but will not revive as well. It is still addictive.
Tri-Ox Compound: This drug helps to provide oxygen to blood in thin atmospheres, or in cases of oxygen starvation.
Tryptophan-Lysine distillates: These are more powerful antibiotics. They add to the effective health of the patient, but at the cost of a slightly fatigued state that lasts until the treatments end.
U
V
Vascular Regeneration Therapy: A series of treatments that stops internal hemorrhaging and repairs damaged or diseased blood vessels. Successful in the treatment of cardiovascular and lymphatic diseases such as Atherosclerosis and vasculitis.
Vasokin: An experimental drug designed to increase blood supply to the humanoid organs, although 22% of it's test cases developed severe damage to the lungs, kidneys and heart - and even the brain.
Venus Drug: Highly illegal. A red capsule which gives humans "more of whatever they have."
Veraxa: A Cardassian poison, veraxa is extremely lethal and has worked perfectly on all species on which it has been used (except Vorta). Because of its strong, distinctive odor and taste, it can only be put in similarly strong food or drink (such as kanar), or else the victim will easily detect it.
Veridium Series Poison: Invented by scientists in the Klingon Empire and still used primarily there, the veridium poisons (types One through Eight) are long-term, slow-working poisons which kill by gradual accumulation within the victim's system. Thus, to accomplish their intended result, they must be placed in the victim's food and drink day after day and week after week until eventually the victim collapses and dies from the damage.
Vertrazine: Combats vertigo. Only one dose will have effect in a 24 hour period. It has no side effects.

Y
Z
Zienite: A drug found only on Ardana which is known to cure certain biological plagues. Raw zienite emits an odorless, colorless gas that retards the intellect and stimulates violence.
