Not a good start

221 words; about a 1 minute read

I've been aboard for several days now and all I have done is read over intelligence updates and catch up on the mountain of paperwork that was left over from the last Intelligence officer that was aboard. I was beginning to feel somewhat sleepy and stood up to go over to my bed when the shockwave hit the ship.

As the shockwave hit the ship, my face slammed into my desktop. I was a little groggy for a few minutes afterwards. Looking at myself in the mirror I brought the bleeding from my broken nose under control, I found the tooth that was knocked out and I'll take it with me so they can fuse it back in place. Last but not least, the right side of my face looks like it was used as a punching bag by a Gorn. I'm going to have a hell of a shiner and my right eye is nearly swollen shut. Not my favorite way to meet the ship's CMO, whoever he or she is. That and the fact I haven't quite checked in for my physical after transferring to a new ship to update my records.

I guess it's time to go to sickbay to get some relief from pain and get berated at the same time, time to go face the piper.
