Regarding the Current Situation

Posted on Monday 20 June 2016 @ 02:21 by Commander Cale Llewellyn DSci

307 words; about a 2 minute read

As he walked into his quarters, Cale instructed the computer to begin playing "something soothing." The computer replied by playing Holst's "Uranus the Mystic from his "The Planets" collection. He was satisfied with the computer's choice and sat down at his desk and began recapping the day. "Computer, begin log entry."

"Chief Science Officer's log stardate 70467.5: Today saw the beginning of a new era for the ship. Our XO has left and we are in danger of losing another officer. I will not speculate on the identity of said officer at this time as I am sure he or she will make his or her grievances known to the captain when they see fit. But I will say this...the officer in question is someone close to me...as close to me as anyone can be after such a short time together on this ship.

"On to other matters, the captain has given Lieutenant Jones and myself to right to move forward with our previous assignment; to gather scientific stops for the ships' science staff to research before we get into combat which is I assume our primary mission. Realizing this, I, as chief science officer, am determined to make sure is a handful for the crew. And I believe Lieutenant Jones will be in agreement with me.

"Before concluding this log, it is my duty to record for the official record that I feel that the current crew as it stands has performed admirably up to this moment. I have never served with a group of officers more dedicated to the ideals the Federation and Starfleet espouse than this one. Computer end log and file in the ships' record."

Cale said as he pushed himself away from his desk and tapped his combadge "Melody, are you free for that drink you wanted to get?"
