On the Road Again

Posted on Friday 10 August 2018 @ 16:56 by Captain John "Apollo" Barstow, M.D.

208 words; about a 1 minute read

"Computer, start log," Apollo ordered as he sat down with a sigh, "Captains log stardate two-three-nine-five-zero-eight point oh-nine, we have finally left space dock after a six month refit, the third for the Merlin. The crew is excited to finally be off and I am too, but, remembering how long this ship has been in service makes me feel kind o old. It doesn't seem like all that long ago I was the kid reporting for duty on the flight deck," he said and shook his head with a chuckle, "almost twenty years ago.

"We are once again headed out beyond Romulan space to explore the space beyond Federation borders. That is if we make it. There have been various reports of theft, including theft of Starfleet Starships, across the fleet. Merlin received a few experimental upgrades that mak her a target. On top of that I have gotten reports of colonies all over the quadrant going quiet, however, Starfleet told us to continue on course. To say all this makes me uneasy is an understatement. Strat ops is monitoring all comm traffic in the sector, so, hopfully we'll have a heads up to any issues.

"For now I need to head to the Bridge. Computer end log."
