The wedding done, the bouquet thrown, Matthew Teague tried to catch sight of the Benzite woman he had seen being part of the wedding party. The press of the people going up to give their congratulations, made him lose sight of her and he didn't dare get up from the seat for the moment. It seemed that the newly wedded couple were a bit popular. Finally noting an opening to his left, Matthew moved through the chairs and went towards the lake that was part of the scenery for this wedding. He loved looking at the water, and the glimmer of the stars on the reflective surface, was so beautiful he also felt a bit wistful as well. Being on the water and also in it, its been awhile since he'd been for a swim. It would be bad form though if he were to shimmy out of his clothing to go for a dip. He'll have to wait.
He murmured to himself, "It would be lovely to just take a swim."
"A holographic simulation never seems quite the same though!" the blue with lilac tones skinned Benzite said from her perch on a tree stump infront of a larger tree, just out of sight. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you jump... I was just reflecting and using the quiet moment for a bit of introspection!"
She started to rise, dusting off the dust from the seat of her pale pink gown. "I'm Doctor Nir'anyar, USS Merlin!"
The simulated moon light catching her eyes and reflecting back to the other man, the play of light highlighting her figure even more than the form fitting silk she was wearing.
Matthew felt out of place still wearing his uniform, but that thought was dashed away by.. her. "Hello Doctor er Nir'anyar. You're quite alright, if I fell down in a faint I'm sure you'd bring me around." he teased giving her a wink. "I'm Matthew Teague, of the Corps of Engineers. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." holding out his hand to take her hand gently. "I will agree, holographic water isn't quite the same," feeling his heart start to race once more.
Anya was still trying to navigate her way around in the ridiculous heeled shoes that are apparently customary. Thin pale pink straps holding a sole to her feet that had a five and a half inch tiny heel attached to it. Not something she was accustomed to. She had her usual heeled uniform boots but the heel on those was not as tall and was chunky. It was this moment, as she contemplated the footwear, that she lost her footing, her ankle giving way before she tumbled backwards towards the water, lashing out a hand to grip at the newcomers shirt for stability... The next moment she hit the water with her back, he followed suit but head first after she had inadvertently pulled him forward with her.
Sploosh! It was a shallower part of the lake but deep enough for the water to cover them both. Matthew had the presence of mind to have taken a breath before he went under. Anya's skirt drifted gently on either of Matthew's legs the rest of his body upon hers. He pulled her close to him angling his feet downwards to assist them to stand upright, their heads breaking the surface of the water, rivulets of water streaming down his handsome face. "well then that was quite refreshing". A brilliant smile, just beaming at Anya.
"These damned heeled things!" she awkwardly pulled one of the shoes free of her left foot and started waving it like some kind of hand weapon. She also noticed his lingering gaze and the way his body had been pulled closer to hers. "At ease soldier!" a slight smile tugging at her own lips. She should have felt uncomfortable but in truth she got the impression that he wanted to be as close as they were.
'At least he's no Tellerite with a wet floor sign!' she thought to herself.
He chuckled, "Careful there that can be a dangerous weapon." referring to the shoe the beautiful Benzite shook around. Then Matthew impulsively swept her up into his arms and proceeded to move towards the shore. "You can slap me later for this." he remarked with a roguish smile. "I just couldn't help myself. And would make navigating out of the water easier before you lose your other shoe. And we fall in agai-" a surprised look came over his face as Matthew's foot slipped on something and he tumbled backwards with Anya still in his arms.
Moments later the pair emerged from the water, this time Anya carrying the Human male on her back in a very awkward piggy back style lift. Her footing far more sure now both heels has been removed and Matthew now carrying them, one heel in each hand.
Carefully she climbed up out of the water, Once back on dry land she gently placed him back on solid ground.
"Something tells me that we both need a warm drink and some equally warm clothing!"
Another beaming smile once his feet- their feet were securely on the ground. "My thanks, Nir'anyar, a warm drink and some dry clothing would be wonderful. Next time, I propose going swimming with less than what we are wearing now." tucking the shoes into one of his pockets, giving a warm chuckle as he did so. " a couple of towels to keep us from leaving puddles to where ever we are going to and a destination." he glanced over at Anya, " If I may be bold, I can get a room for us to get warm and dry in. I hadn't had a chance to check into a room but can do so quick enough."
"I already have temporary quarters here on the station but you would be welcome to walk me home... am I using the Human expression correctly?"
Once again she could feel the flush of blood running to her cheeks, accentuating the violet hues of her skintone. She had bowed her head slightly to hide it as she gathered up part of the dress, giving her more manageability to climb the small slop away from the pond.
Once they reached level ground and safely away from any chance to fall in the pond, Matthew whispered softly for the computer to do something for him. A set of towels appeared in Matthew's arms and once they were away from the slope which led into the water, he handed one of them to Anya. He took note of the coloration of her cheeks, and gave a soft smile giving a slight intake of breath, It looked fetching, her blushing for that was what he took it as such.
"That is the correct way to state it. And I would love to walk you home." Matthew replied. He paused for a moment realizing his shoes were squelching as he walked. He knelt down to undo his shoes and took them off. Then toweled his feet dry. Rising up, Matthew gave a smile and held out his arm for Anya to take. "Shall we Milady? And in case you don' t know that reference is an old style term a varient of My lady." giving her a wink and a smile.
