Jack had left Pearl in a tizzy, he kissed her, had asked her on a date and she had scant hours to get herself looking proper. He wanted her to dress as if she were going to be a princess or a ball. Sort of like a Cinderella meeting her prince.
"Oh my gosh I need help badly!" she called for her roomie Wendy and also Evie and Daisy. "Uh girls I need some help badly. Come to my quarters please. I'm going on a date!""
Daisy when receiving that call, looked at Evie, "This is very strange Pearl sounded like she was in a panic, and where a date is concerned? Must be something big."
"If it's anything like most of the guys on this ship I'd wager its nothing too 'big'." Evie joked lightly with Daisy. "Let's go and see what state she's in." she cocked her arm out for Daisy to grab and they were on their way.
There they found Pearl, staring at herself in the mirror. Her hair in a total mess, and she was getting ready to bite her nails, when Wendy turned around to see Daisy and Evie.
"Oh thank goodness you arrived. Pearl is in almost sheer panic. It seems that she's been asked out on a date and she's needing to dress up. It was Jack who asked her out." Wendy stated.
Pearl seemed out of her depth here. " I don't know what to wear. He wanted me to sort of dress like a princess. I don't even know how to put on makeup!"
Daisy looked at Evie, her eyes rather wide. " I thought everyone knew how to put on makeup."
"Have you never put makeup on before? Not even as a little girl?" Evie asked. "What kind of princess? Like DISNEY!" she exclaimed almost overjoyed. She had watched old fashioned films as a child and Disney was a firm favourite.
Pearl shook her head, "No, I've not ever put on make up not even as a little girl. The closest thing I have had make up wise was the camo paint for going into a battle. That is all, and if you consider mud caked on the face then, that's another sort of make up?" Pearl giving a helpless shrug. "And a Disney princess? I well what is that? I've not seen something like that at all. "Pearl feeling very awkward by this time. She was unfamiliar with these things and feeling even more like a girl from a backwater swamp place.
"Oh my gosh what am I thinking. Why would Jack want to be associating with someone like me." Pearl feeling her heart beating rapidly. "He kissed me but.. why me? I like him, a lot." she was starting to babble as Pearl was so very nervous.
Daisy looked at Evie, and Wendy looked at Pearl. "Um just calm down. Trust us we can fix you up." Wendy turned towards Evie and Daisy. "We can do this."
"Well... I don't think camo paint will go with a nice dress." Evie said out loud as it slipped past her mouth before her brain could stop her.
"Stop it! You are a very pretty woman, Pearl, and don't you think otherwise now." Evie got her big sister head on, even though Pearl was older. She moved to a screen and asked it to show dresses from Disney princesses. It began to cast a holo-image outward and Pearl would be able to see everyone from Elsa to Jasmine, Aurora to Belle.
Pearl's eyes were wide as saucers, seeing all of the pretty dresses Evie was showing. "Oh I can't seem to decide. Well maybe that one?" pointing towards the Belle like dress. "Could that look good on me?" she looked at Evie with pleading eyes. "I don't know... do you think that would work?"
"I think that would look perfect on you." Evie smiled warmly at her. "You have the right shape, and we can do your hair to match. What do you think?" she asked both Wendy, and Daisy.
Wendy nodded, "That would look great on you Pearl!"
Daisy was in agreement as well. "Now to do the makeup and your hair and you'll be ready for your romantic date with Jack." giving a rapid nod.
"Well we can put your hair up, show off that beauty of a face." Evie smiled and pinched Pearl's cheek in humour. "Put a nice clip in there, make it match your outfit so you all all prim and proper?"
"Okay that sounds great." Pearl feeling a bit relieved at the help she was being given.
Wendy clapped her hands together, "All right girls, lets get to work! And Pearl get into the shower, times a wasting a way and you haven't got all night to drag your feet."
Pearl nodded and ran into the shower. Once she came out, Wendy started barking out orders "And you will also need some pretty underwear too." Pearl's eyes went round. "Wait, why is that? Last time I was with someone it didn't matter."
Wendy paused. "Wait what? Oh girl, you definitely need to learn a bit more."
Evie giggled a little to herself as Pearl looked genuinely terrified. "Daisy, replicate something nice in yellow for wearing underneath the dress. It is good to colour code." she smiled as she guided Pearl to the table on which make up was set out on. "So, where do you want to start?" she asked.
"Right!" Daisy replied, and went to get the whole underwear ensemble taken care of. For beneath the dress Pearl was going to need a soft silken slip full length, as well as the necessary other lingerie.
Wendy on the other hand came over to where Pearl and Evie were. "Okay I say hair first, then it will be the makeup. Shall we get to work?" she looking at Evie then at Pearl. "Pearl now sit down!" Wendy having a bit of a commanding tone.
Pearl clapped her mouth shut and meekly sat down to let the ladies get her ready.
Evie set out an array of make up utensils. From lipstick to foundation, mascara to blusher she had laid it all out in front to get a good idea of what to do. She needed to match the tone of Peal's skin to the foundation as best she could to make it look seamless. "What kind of lipstick do you think you'd like?" she asked Pearl to keep her mind from wandering.
"I don't know, something that looks natural? Something that isn't messy when we hopefully kiss? I have always hated seeing the gooshy mess when some ladies have the pretty red, then when they kiss a person it leaves red, stain, or smears." Pearl gave a shudder. "I don't know if anyone enjoys that left on their lips." giving a shrug.
"Well all you need on your lips would be a light touch of color. Even some lipgloss that has a nice flavor. Or even some chapstick. Your lips are a nice color already. Its called a little bit goes a long way. And just a light touch of makeup to bring out the loveliness of your eyes." Daisy replied.
Evie giggled. "I do like a bit of red lipstick." she admitted. "But only because it shows up so brightly on my pale skin." she gestured to herself in the mirror that Pearl was looking in to. "I'm like a ghost with beautiful hair." she put on a cheesy grin.
"We'll go with something subtle, understated but still noticeable so he can't take his eyes off those lips of yours." she nudged Pearl playfully.
Pearl blushed, "Oh.. hmmnn. okay" then she giggled.
"Well you are a beauty, Evie, and haven't I been seeing eyes watching you as you walk down the halls?" Daisy remarked. "Well now lets get to work." starting the flurry of activity to get Pearl finished in time for her date.
Time passed, the dress was donned, Daisy and Wendy looked at the handiwork of what the three of them had done. "Oh Evie, doesn't she look beautiful?" Wendy having motioned for Pearl to come into view.
Pearl blushed at getting this sort of attention in this manner.
"Hush now, Daisy." Evie playfully scolded. "They'll just be looking to see where they are going." She dismissed the comment. Evie did not think of herself as much to look at.
Either way she too helped Daisy continue to doll Pearl up.
"Oh my." Evie held her hand up to her mouth. "Is that you under there, Pearl?" she asked rhetorically. "I see a princess and nothing less!"
Pearl looked at herself in the mirror, at the expression in the eyes of her friends. She smoothed the dress down a little bit, and then really looked at herself. "I-I look really pretty, I never thought I could ever look this way. I never considered this ever to happen. Oh if my mama could see me now. She'd probably be in tears right now. I can imagine her being so happy that her little girl has now become a swan, instead of an ugly duckling."
"Oh, Pearl... you were never an ugly duckling." Evie couldn't help but throw herself at her and give her a big old hug. "Jack isn't going to know what hit him!" she squeezed.
Pearl returned the embrace, feeling ever so much better in getting all dolled up for Jack. She pulled in Wendy as well as Daisy into the mix.
"Hey be careful don't want to wrinkle up the dress now do we?" Daisy exclaimed.
"Oh don't worry I don't think he'd notice anyway when he sees the radiating beauty right here." Wendy remarked. She glanced at the clock. "Oh gosh you had better get going Pearl, you don't want to keep him waiting too long."
Pearl gave a slight start. "Oh goodness no. I don't want to give him the wrong impression that I stood him up. Okay wish me luck, I've got to go!"
Evie had a little tear in her eye as Pearl left. "I'm excited for her. I'm sure he'll fall head over heels for her." she smiled. "Now! Let's go back home and eat ice cream and forget for a while we've got no-one to get dolled up for."
Daisy nodded, then looked over at Wendy. "You going to be okay?" as Wendy had a bit of a woeful expression in her eyes.
"Uh yeah, I will be. Well looks like I will be eating icecream as well, or have a box of chocolate and watch a movie. I don't have a date tonight either. Its nice though, that Pearl has someone in her life now." giving a smile. "We did good girls, we did good."
