Can We Please Get the Systems Back Online?

Mission: Lost Souls
Location: USS Merlin; Main Engineering
Timeline: Current
577 words - 1.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Lieutenant Commander Cale Jason Llewellyn stood in the main hall of Main Engineering of the Merlin awaiting the engineering support teams' arrivals. He was shocked to see an old Academy friend, Lieutenant Chad Hamblin, among the teams. Hamblin walked up to Llewellyn and extended his hand, "Greetings, Commander. It's certainly been a while hasn't it?"

Cale gulped and took the proffered hand and shook it firmly. "Yes, it has, Lieutenant. How long have you been on the Grissom?"

"Only a few months. I joined after you transferred over. Now, where would you like us to start, Commander?"

"We need to get main power back up before anything. I trust you have EPS control specialists with your teams? Then, we need to get the gel-pak bypassed and as much of the ships' circuitry back to traditional isolinear systems. And last we want to have the engines up and running so we can get the ship back to the Federation."

"Sounds good to me. And to answer your prior question, yes I do. I have an entire team of 5 here on the ship. They, as well as the rest of my teams, are at your command. I'm going to go prep my teams on our jobs here. Commander, if you will?" Hamblin asked.

"Of course, Lieutenant. Be my guest. I'll be in the TIC if you need me," Cale said before exiting Main Engineering.

As he did so, Lieutenant Hamblin was talking to his teams. After he gave him their tasks, he made his way to the Chief Engineer's office and brought up the specs on this ships' engines as he would be directly supervising getting the engines up and running. He was surprised to see that these engines employed a trycyclic input manifold much like the Intrepid-class ships do. He hadn't though them able to move a ship this size but obviously it was. He stood up and left the office and walked around Engineering taking in the sight of the engines themselves. What a majestic sight to behold.

"Lieutenant, we're just about ready to bring main power online," came Ensign McCauley's voice over his combadge.

Chad was pleased at the quickness of this phase of their task. "Thank you, Ensign. Assist Team A with whatever they may need, please."

"Aye, Sir." And just at that moment, the lights on the ship came to life. He wondered if he should let Commander Llewellyn that the power was back up when his combadge chirped.

"Llewellyn to Hamblin. Nice work on the power. I'm well and truly impressed the efficiency of your EPS Control Specialists," said the commander.

"Thank you, Commander. I'm quite impressed with them myself today. I also wanted to let you know that we'll have the gel-paks bypassed in the next 5 minutes or so and then I'll supervise the startup of the engines myself."

"Sounds excellent. I'll be down there as well. I want to watch the startup routine myself in case we have to do this again before we get a Chief Engineer," Cale said.

And within the hour, the support team had the gel-paks bypassed and the engines up and running. Now all that was left to do was to let the Commander know of its success. That was just was Cale planned on doing after he inspected the work for himself
