ON:

Melody entered Sickbay and waited near a bio bed. She hadn't been in here since coming back onboard but she had been summoned. Melody was still reserved around doctors, and counselors for that matter but it was something she was overcoming. Caroline was helping her with that.

As things with O'Hara had died down and she was recovering. Michael went back to reviewing the crew's medical records. He found that a number of them were either missing or out of date. This was to be expected as Barstow regrouped his original crew. The most glaring was Commander Jones. Michael ran his hand through his hair as he read the record. She had survived assimilation among other things. Whelp there is a good place to start, he thought as he asked her to come to Sick Bay.

"Ah, you must be Dr Ki." Melody forced herself to extend her hand. "Caroline.... I mean Commander Miller speaks very highly of you."

"Commander Jones yes. Thank you for coming and Caroline is a fine asset to this ship and it's Sick Bay." The awkward compliment was genuine, however, it was simply awkward for Michael to give a compliment. "Thank you for coming. It seems that your original medical record is corrupted and had to be purged from the database. So, if you have the time and do not mind I would like perform a basic examination which would allow me to have an up to date medical record." He took the hand and shook with an awkward smile as he spoke.

"Well Doctor, I'm no stranger to medical exams as you might have gathered" Melody sighed as she pull herself up onto the bio bed. She held her arms open "Go ahead, scan away. Are there any blanks you need filling in?"

Michael began the exam with the standard once over of the medical tricorder. It's readings showed as expected that the patient was healthy. Her implants were functioning normally. He kept a cool distant demeanor, one he typically wore while performing these exams. However, this time he was wondering if the Merlin accumulated oddities.

Melody thought for a moment. "I've had no major problems but...... there's one strange little thing that's happened more than once. I get the a really weird feeling like..... I'm trapped and can't move. Like I'm back in that maturation chamber. It gives me the shivers for the moment. At first I though it was a bad memory but it feels different. Almost...... tangible."

"Hmmmm..." Michael let out the sound as he folded the tricorder and replaced it on the cart. "Tell me Commander how old were you when you were taken by the Borg? I also must ask have you spoken with Counselor Miller about these feelings?"

"Not as of yet. I suppose I could talk with Caroline about it." Melody mused before answering the Doctors first question. "I was only 18 months old when the ship me and my parents were on was attacked by the Borg. My parents were both assimilated and I was placed in a maturation chamber. I was never fully assimilated into the collective as for 3 months my aging was accelerated. I was finally rescued by an away team from the USS Thunderchild, but I was now about 12 years old. It's funny, I was just telling Cale about all this earlier. Maybe talking about the past has brought up some....... unpleasant memories."

Michael stroked his chin. "It is possible that the recollection has brought forth some buried and locked away memories. Even though the maturation chamber caused you to grow faster than any human. Your brain retains certain memories of being in the chamber. At least that is what we have learned over the years. Other than the memories rushing back are you experiencing any other unknown and strange occurrences."

Melody thought for a moment. “Once or twice I’ve gone to bed and woken up in the night still exhausted. Maybe I should cut back on the coffee.....”

"Hmmmmm... Has there been any evidence that you have moved in your sleep. Such as sleep walking. That is something that can be dangerous on a Starship. I would like to run some tests to see exactly what this could be. However, cutting back on the caffeine, especially before bedtime would be beneficial." Michael replied as he began to ponder the number of things that could be wrong with the woman.

“Would it be ok for Sansa, that’s my daughter to come and and have a quick once over?” Melody asked. “She went through a...... slight growth spurt recently and I’d like to make sure she’s ok. She also has a” Melody chose her words carefully “Unique age curve as well.”

"Absolutely anyone the Merlin is welcome to be examined. What is her unique age curve? She was not assimilated as well. Was she?" Michael could not believe he was asking the possibility was astronomical.

"I've never had any problems with sleepwalking before, just some nightmares." Melody raise an eyebrow and took a deep breath. "As for Sansa she's never been anywhere near the Borg and I hope to keep it that way but, I suppose we have the Borg to thank for all this. Now she has been seen by Doctors at Starfleet Medical. My time in the maturation chamber must have left something in my blood chemistry. So I was pregnant with Sansa for about..... two months. Then she went from a baby to looking about 13 years old in about 4 months. Starfleet Medical managed to stop her accelerated aging and she's been ok for another 4 months. Then she seems to have gone through another spurt just recently. The Doctors thought this might happen around puberty and shouldn't happen again."

Melody watched Ki for his reaction as she told him the story.

Michael raised an eyebrow as he thought about the story that Melody had just told. There was a part of him that was excited to examine the young woman. The diagnostician in him wanted to see if he could cure her. "It is possible that some of the accelerated growth hormones that the Borg used transferred in utero. If that is the case there are a few methods that might be employed to restore Sansa's growth to normal. Bring her by and I will give her an examination."

"Oh there was one more thing." Melody remembered before slipping off the bio bed. "Sav'ena said I 'spaced out' for about ten seconds earlier today. I don't remember this happening but she was adamant. She even got a visual recording of it. I suppose i could have just got lost in thought for a moment, right? Nothing to worry about?"

Michael stroked his chin as he thought for a moment. "You could be correct it could be nothing. But then again it could be something more. If you would like I could fit you with a cortical monitor. If anything happens it will alert Sick Bay immediately." he reached over to the cart and selected the correct piece of equipment. Michael ran a tricorder over her head just to get a quick reading to be safe.

"Thank you Doctor." Melody felt better.
