Sansa had been right. Esme was amazed by dreams but she also wanted to get back to the waking world so she could spend time with Hamish.

Esme had woken first and was now laid looking at Hamish's sleeping form. She was tempted to climb on him and have him right then and there but... he had asked that there would be nothing physical... Not yet...

She gently ran a hand over his chest.

Hamish caught up in vivid dreams, his mind having taken him back to the past, the caress on his chest he thought part of the dream, reached up to take the hand of someone. The warmth of the hand brought him slowly out of his sleep his eyes opening to where he could see the emerald green of Esme. His eyes widened and he almost rolled out of his bed, then remembered he had agreed to this. "Well, er good morning." he managed to say.

Esme looked at him for a moment before sliding out of bed and walking over to the replicator "Two Rajtajinos', one double strong, double sweet."

She turned and headed back, sitting on the bead and handing him one of the mugs. She sniffed her own before taking a drink and pulling an intrigued expression. "An... unusual beverage. Quite potent." She looked back to Hamish "You said we need to talk, I agree. I was talking to Sansa last night in her dreams. She really is a unique person. She's very... trusting."

Hamish responded "Yes she is trusting, and has been hurt deeply." feeling rather discomforted at this statement.

"I've seen her memories and... I know how she feels about you, which is very different to how she felt when she first met you." She frowned at him and added "Now I think you have some explaining to do. When you first met Sansa, you were not very nice to her. Not at all like the Hamish I remember." Her expression changed from stern to more concerned "What happened to you? What happened to the sweet, gentle, loving man who saved me and cared for me?"

Hamish abruptly pulled away from Esme and rose from the bed. "Much has happened after you left me, Esme. After you died in my arms. That affected me a great deal. I can't blame you for that either. Rose didn't want me and I wasn't going to press things with her. And well, I had trouble with other women afterwards. They wanted my cousin Mathias and used me to get close to him. I threw myself into my science work, worked really hard and then, Fay came into being. And my hard work was shoved aside due to the special woman, whose body you share right now. I didn't know what happened to her, all I had after you were gone from my life, was my work. I was shoved aside, and forgotten Esme. I became bitter, jaded, morose and in truth losing my self-worth. So yes I was a petty, angry horribly jealous man." Hamish facing Esme.

"It took me being read the riot act by not only Mathias, but also the Captain, and also Sansa, for me to start turning my life around. Sansa is a good woman and so warm, generous and loving. I don't want to do anything to take advantage of her. And I don't want to hurt her anymore. I thought I was reluctant in getting close to her. I didn't want to suffer the pain I suffered from losing you." he reached up and ran his hands in his hair. "now you are back. What are we going to do Esme? What about Sansa?"

"Oh! My poor Sweet Hamish. I never wanted to cause you pain. Obviously, I can't stay in Sansa indefinitely. Once we get to my home, I will leave her. I'm sure the council will be able to arrange another host. I don't want to lose you either. " She sighed "Maybe it would have been better if I had not come back."


Inside her head, Sansa spoke to her "Sing to him!"

Esme frowned "Sing? Sing... what I wouldn't know what..."

I'll help you, just follow my lead Sansa showed Esme the words and the tune in her mind After a moment, hesitantly at first, then growing in confidence, Esme sang for him.

Esme's eyes were filled with tears when she had finished. She let Sansa take over to speak with Hamish "I understand your pain and your loss..." She reached out and took his hand "I'm here for you and right now, so is Esme. Don't waste that time. You know that I know better than anyone, that time is precious and it... it passes so quickly. Not many people get a second chance Hamish, and when we get in the Etheria I'm sure a more permanent solution can be arranged.

Hamish looked at Sansa, "My darling, I-I love you Sansa, and I love Esme but now I am caught between, loving two women." then it dawned on him what he just said. "Oh my." his face went a beet red. He hadn't really said those words aloud, before not that he recalled, not to Sansa. "I don't want to break either of your hearts, mine couldn't stand for that." he wanted to spend time with Sansa, in an intimate way but that would be too soon. And things have just become even more complicated.

Sansa was speechless for a moment, then kneeling on the edge of the bed wrapped her arms around Hamish and just held him. "I love you too and I can feel Esme loves you. Whatever happens, we want you to know that. I realise this can't be easy for you. We'll get through this.

Just then, the door chime sounded and a voice came through "It's Fay, may I come in? It's urgent!"

Hamish called out "Enter!" and looked at Sansa with questions abounding, then watched as Fay entered.

When the doors opened, Fay was standing there, her eyes were red from crying. "I've spoken to Owan via the ships communication systems. There's something I need to tell you..."
