Off to a flying start……..

410 words; about a 2 minute read

ON:

Well, this new assignment is certainly not dull, feel like I’ve had everything thrown at me all at once. From boarding my new ship, meeting the Captain, getting out of spacedock (Which was fun. Have you seen the size of this thing? It makes a Sovereign class look like a Constitution class!) To straight into a life or death situation on the bridge with me in command!

Honestly, I thought I’d have a few days to acclimatize; instead I was thrust straight into the big chair. After the initial shock, It turns out I really enjoyed it. Not having the ship almost blown up, but the pulse pounding atmosphere of it and also being in command. Not sure I’d suite a desk job though, I like to keep moving and keeping moving fast. Plus I’m not a fan of paperwork.

The ships doctor turned out to be a pleasant surprise, much nicer than all the other doctors I’ve seen. She is coming round for dinner later, just hope I can get my replcator working right.

The Captain is nice, he reminds me of Captain Liconie. He seems to be putting a lot of faith in me; I just hope I can justify that. He spoke to me privately after the drill and I might have flown off the handle at him, which he didn’t really deserve. Must remember to engage brain before my mouth jumps into warp speed, especially at the officers debriefing.

I’ve got to pop down to engineering and hand in my conn report for Lieutenant Ikiri to look over. I haven’t really weighed him up yet. I suppose I haven’t spoken to him yet as I’m unsure how to broach the mutual Borg past. It’s been over 12 years for me and still don’t like talking about it, even thought I had to recount it to many doctors.

My new quarters are immense, much larger than any I’ve had previously. Nibbles seems to like them too. Just hope I don’t lose her in here. Still, food can lure her out of anywhere.

Looking forward to the mission ahead. After the proving founds Lieutenant Llewellyn and I have had to draw up a flight plan with some interesting stops on the way and between us we have found 3 to keep Captain and crew amused.

OFF:

Lieutenant Melody Jones
Chief flight control officer
USS Merlin
