Caroline took a deep breath. She didn't know why she was nervous she had spoken to this man every 2 weeks - well mostly bar a small blip being kidnapped, since she had joined the psych programme. She waited for the door to open. Would it be his wife she wondered. Did she know she was his mentee?
"I'll get it!" Kaylee called out to Liam, an apron tied about her waist and some flour on her nose. She was working on a batch of cinnamon rolls, and wiped her hands clean from the flour. She answered the door to find, someone who looked familiar. "Well, hello there! You are... Caroline Miller? Liam's told me about you, and you certainly are beautiful. Please do come in. May I get you something to drink, and please have a seat." Motioning towards a comfortable sofa. "Liam, we've got a visitor." a beaming smile upon her face.
“Thank you, do you have decaf coffee?” she said to his wife. “It’s Kaylee isn’t it? It is a pleasure. Liam told me about your wedding. Congratulations.”
"Certainly, we've got de-caf coffee, I'll go get you some. And thank you. I simply adore him." Kaylee beaming brightly, and went to get the coffee.
“2 secs babe. I’m just throwing some clothes on,” Liam said from their bedroom.
“Oh now this is a lovely development. You never said you were heading our direction,” he smiled tugging his shirt.
“The Merlin had a testy few days,” Caroline said accepting the hug her mentor bestowed on her. “I thought it would be nice to do this weeks chat in person.”
“It’s something a bit more personal I think or you would have messaged not just turned up. Not that I’m complaining, I get to show off my better half,” Liam said sloping his arm round his wife as she handed a mug to the other woman.
“I would like to invite you both to a wedding,” Caroline said.
Kaylee stole a kiss from Liam then she smiled. "a wedding? Whose wedding is it? Then she caught the sense of something about Caroline. "Wait a minute, its yours isn't it" her lips forming into a 'O' shape. "Really, that is simply fantastic!"
"It is yes," Caroline smiled. "And as I have no family out here I was hoping ... " she locked eyes with Liam ... "That as my mentor and own counselor. Someone who knows me very well. If you might do me the honour of giving me away?"
"I would love to," Liam said genuinely touched. "Have you everything set up or do you need some help?"
"I haven't got a dress organised yet," Caroline said sheepishly. "And its pretty soon before the Admiral leaves."
"Right well ... erm sweetheart ... "he turned to Kaylee. "I ... you would probably be better at dresses. Not that I'm not willing to help. I just don't know if my taste is ... right in that area ...... would you help too?" he asked.
"Oh well, I can help you out there!" Kaylee grinned, "And I'd be delighted to do so. Do you want something simple? And the wedding area, will it be in the holo-suite in a natural setting? This is important, just to decide the length of the dress. I can get things set up very quickly."
"Your very kind," Caroline said with a smile. "I need something flattering. This bump is getting bigger and bigger by the day. And something classic. Nothing flashy. Bohemian maybe. Lightweight. Yes I would love it to be in a natural setting. Perhaps near a water body in either Scotland for my fiancé or Sweden. An outside wedding in nature sounds lovely."
"Well there are some lovely settings, and with a holodeck I can combine a few places. Can even put the Northern Lights, a gazebo near a lake and some pine trees. And a beautiful boho dress that would be just lovely on you." Kaylee pulling out her larger PADD to show Caroline the dresses and also some scenery. Or even twinkling stars in the background depends on whether you want an evening wedding or a day time wedding." Kaylee grinned. "Sorry just a bit excited on this."
"Oh I think Mathias would love there to be stars." Caroline said dreamily. "Can we list some ideas for me to float past him?"
"Sure I can do that. Heck if you want to do something that has a fantasy scene where you can step onto water with snow flake patterned stepping stones appear at each step. Even a medieval castle." Kaylee stopped, then looked at Caroline. "All it takes is a little piece of imagination and the magic of the holodeck. I'll send a listing to you and Mathias." she looked over at Liam, and smiled, then returned her gaze to Caroline. "Please if I get too much let me know." smiling happily.
"Its adorable." Liam smiled. "Well I shall leave you to your planning. I need to prepare for a colony meeting. I'm just over here if required though. Caroline would you and your attended have time to have dinner with us at all?"
"I'm sure we can fit it in," she smiled.
