ON:

Melody's talks with the crew were going very well. Next on her list was the chief intelligence officer. She tapped the comm button.

"Lieutenant Grekas, could you join me in my office please? Room 113-A, Habitat ring level 21 section Baker?"

Not long back from Ba'ku Kailu had only really just packed his things away in his temporary quarters when the Captain came calling. "On my way." was his simple reply as he left his quarters and headed to where he was requested... with a little help from the computer as it seemed a rather specific location.

As he entered, he noticed the Captain staring out the window. "Afternoon ma'am."

Melody smiled as he entered the room. "Good afternoon, Lieutenant. Please have a seat. Tell me, have you had a relaxing shore leave?"

"It has been agreeable Captain, yes. I spent some time down on Ba'ku with some company and it was very enjoyable, almost relaxing." Kailu replied. He never truly relaxed, he always felt as if he had to be alert and 'switched on'. "How has yours been? How are your new offspring?"

“We also had a very…. Relaxing stay on Ba’Ku. The stories about the metaphapasic radiation were certainly not exaggerated. I feel at least ten years younger. And it really did help get me to get back in shape. I may have to come back again.” She added with a smile.

“The boys were no trouble and they seemed to have fun on the planet, we stayed at a small chalet near a lake, and it was quite beautiful. Very peaceful. Sansa has been asked to stay on the station for a while longer heading up a survey of the aquatic life on the new colony planet. She’ll be joining us in a few weeks. I am looking forward to getting back on the Merlin. Our upcoming mission is fairly straightforward. Put all the new systems through their paces. Has there been any chatter in the intelligence community on our previous mission? The Omega detonation?”

Kailu nodded. He was unsure how the radiation affected El Aurians as it mattered not how old they were really given they lived such a long life. He was glad the Captain had found time to relax given what had happened recently on board. He come on the ship at the best of times and was instantly thrown into the chaos of a damaged ship, injured crew and life in the balance.

"Yes, I am eager to see how this 'new' shuttle will perform. Engineers often prop up their inventions with a grandiose sense of expectation and promise. I can only hope they meet them." Kailu said as the captain continued.

"The chatter on the detonation has been minimal at the moment from what I have heard. Aside from some interest from the Cardassians and Romulan factions it has been quite an isolated incident thankfully." he added.

Melody nodded thoughtfully. "Well, that's something good I suppose. I know Commodore Haistro is investigating the activity of the Cartels in the local area. We've also been assuming that all the Omega was destroyed in the detonation. I think you will agree that it's paramount that none of that gets into.... shall we say unfriendly hands."

Kailu nodded. "I have been in contact with Starfleet Intelligence, and they have put a 'blanket' over anything, or anyone, that comes up with Omega will automatically be deleted and diverted somewhere else. We'll make sure the mention of anything related to our mission, our involvement and whatnot is well protected."

Melody nodded. "Good, you've covered all the bases. I only hope that's the last time we have to deal with that particular problem. One last thing." Melody added "Has there been any information on the Andromeda? Starfleet has lost contact with her and, well I'm concerned."

"Always do Captain," Kailu said in reference to the covering of bases. He sighed before answering the next question. There had been alerts, quiet alerts, put out about the Andromeda disappearing in somewhat strange circumstances. "At the moment the USS Jericho and science ship USS Wildflower are combing the sector the Andromeda disappeared from. The evidence so far has shown links to a subspace opening much like those that are linked to the MU and AU's. At the moment that is really all we have. As we don't know what triggered the opening, and Starfleet not wanting to lose another ship to it, they are treading lightly. On a good note though, there is no sign of debris from the Andromeda leading us to believe they are in one piece and if the stories of Captain Reynolds are true then he will be working to get them back as safely and quickly as possible."

Melody looked surprised. "The Mirror universe? Wow! No wonder Starfleet has lost contact. Yes, you're right there. I'm sure Captain Reynolds won't want to be hanging around there too long. I do hope they get back safely. I've got a close friend onboard."

"You do, ma'am?" Kailu asked. "Whom would that be?" he added. He was interested in getting to know his Captain a bit better.

"The ships XO, Amelia Fox. We've been friends since the academy." She smiled "I remember meeting her on leave and having to get her out of a particularly dangerous poker game against some rather unsavoury characters. Still, I believe she did leave with all their latinum."

Kailu smirked. "I get the sense she is a very formidable woman and this makes me feel assured that their return will be swift and true." he paused for a moment. "I have heard of subspace tunnels that form through El Aurian tech and biological techniques. Maybe they have one of them on their side." he tried to be reassuring.

Melody nodded. "I hope so Lieutenant, I really do. After I've spoken with you, I'll be seeing our security chief. I'll ask if he has heard anything. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss?"

"Nothing ma'am. I am grateful to see you and your offspring are well. Thank you for the invite and chat." he smiled and rose from his seat awaiting to be dismissed.

Melody smiled back. "No trouble Lieutenant, my door is always open. Dismissed."
