Mission:
Where no one has gone before
Location: Main Bridge
Timeline: MD01 1600
769 words - 1.5 OF Standard Post Measure
ON:
The ready room doors opened and Melody stepped onto the bridge. "Report."
"Captain" Anya stood from the command chair and side stepped, allowing Melody the option to take her seat if she chose to. "We have detected signs of a damaged, possibly derelict vessel a short distance away. It looks as if an ion storm passed through the area and may have damaged her. No life sign readings that we can recognize but we are picking up an unusual energy reading. I've ordered an intercept course!"
Sitting at his station towards the front of the bridge, Jack spun around in his chair to face the captain, "I've prepared our structural integrity grid and our power grid for any sudden EM interference. The Merlin should be able to take a few hits from whatever is out there"
Pete sat at the helm and took a quick scan of the readouts on his console. "The ship is on course at full impulse." There was really nothing else to say. Sometimes the shortest report was the best report. However, to be on the safe side Pete ordered up some evasive sequences and put them on his console. At the push of a button, the ship would go to evasive if needed.
This should prove to be interesting, Hamish thought to himself. A derelict ship. What will they find? He moved forward slightly in his seat, focusing upon them drawing near that ship.
"I am trying to find a source for the readings," Seklar reported from one of the bridge engineering consoles, "so far, no clear readings."
" Perhaps we could have engineering and science come up with a counter to the EM interference and focus a pulse through the deflector dish to dissipate it before it hits the ship. " Gregor suggested. " At the very least punch a hole in it so the ship wouldn't be as affected or give us some wiggle room in a safe passage if at all possible. " Gregor watched the expressions of those around the table to see what they thought of the suggestion and if it could be done.
The lift opened and Mathias stepped onto the bridge, "What is happening Lieutenant Nir'anyar? This looks rather interesting." he looked toward Melody, then toward the others. "What's the situation? Could someone give me an update as to what we are facing?"
"Ahh, Number One. Impeccable timing as ever. It would seem we've stumbled across a derelict ship. Are you feeling up to an away mission? I've got a feeling you won't want to let me lead it." Melody said with a smile.
Mathias flashed a smile, "Well not this one, Captain, however I will not keep you from leading another one." he walked up near her and said in a low voice. "We can take turns yes? Depending on the situation. I can't have all the fun now can I." he then said "I am up for leading the away mission, my curiosity is rather piqued at this point." he stepped back, to give Melody some room.
Melody nodded and sat down. "Good, assemble your away team Commander and investigate the derelict. Make sure the transporter room keeps a lock on you while you're over there and keep an open comm link to the ship, just in case. Might I suggest you take Lieutenant Nir'anyar with you, it was her discovery."
"I like to think it was a group effort" she said humbly trying to deflect the attention away for her, her cheeks flushing violet once again.
Gregor looked to Mathias. " How many security do you want going with you Sir? " He asked. " You will be beaming into an unknown situation. "
Mathias looked at Gregor and thought for a moment. "Lieutenant Morgan. I do believe that you will be sufficient enough as well as those that will be coming along. For now, Captain with your permission we will be on our way." giving an affable smile.
