The Long Road Ahead

Posted on Monday 17 October 2016 @ 17:58 by Lieutenant JG Martin Landau

Mission: Old, New Ship
Location: Round Table
Timeline: MD9 - Early Morning
520 words - 1 OF Standard Post Measure

Landau sat there on the sofa in the round table reading a book he had replicated and was wondering why it was so quiet in the room this morning. He put the book on the table and took a sip of the lemonade it felt cold to the touch and was loving the peace and quite. He had swapped this mornings shift with his assistant for the manned when needed slot later in the day and continued reading the book taking in every word on every page and enjoying it. It felt good to not be on shift this morning after what went on during the night with the nightmares again Martin felt he needed some respite before going on shift to pull himself together and calm down a bit more before doing anything duty wise.

Landau sat there contemplating why these nightmares happen and what to do about them on the Leeds Martin had cured some of them by facing them head on in the holodeck but they keep comming back. Is this some sort of job related induced thing that might require myself to step down from duty to cure it or is it something more major that needs addressing to once and for all remove them. Martin got up and headed to the replicator for breakfast and returned to the sofa to tuck in and continue reading the book which was getting interesting page by page but it kept his mind away from replaying last nights nightmare and kept him calm and normal.

Martin felt if he was to replay this he might or maybe punch someone which happened on the Archer where he punched the XO then blacked out only for Landau to awaken inside sickbay. Some how the nightmare at the time had triggered something within the brain that caused Martin to react without thinking whilst the brain was locked in with the nightmare taking over. This was a rare event which the next one was Vanguard where Martin started strangling a senior officer to have the same side effects blackout followed by sickbay with the same symptoms occuring. It was like a part of his brain noticed something in the surroundings or a thing triggered it to kick in and have the nightmares take over.

Martin got up grabbed the bag and decided go for a walk to clear his mind he felt like it wouldhelp him calm down for the later shift where he wouldnt do much work tuck himself in the corner and maybe read a book and let everone else in the department do the work today. Martin felt like he wanted a quiet day to reflect and cool down from last nights nightmares that kept Landau up most of the night and the fact he had gained hardly any sleep kept running through his mind. He felt like last nights was the worst ever he had experienced but felt it may have had something to do with the centauriian war as a kid or maybe something else sparks them off
