ON:

Martin thought about getting the officers opinion on bringing a munchkin aboard the ship later on last night. Landau was chatting with his sister and she informed him they had to clear out the stuff in the estate and she felt the munchkin, a gremlin sort of thing like a Mogwai without the change and stuff, but was bloodthirsty and cute an animal native to my home world that was a pet our mother kept. My sister informed me it be a suitable thing that Martin take as it suited him and his problems but he wasn't sure it was suited to a starship. He kept running it through his mind about getting this bloodthirsty cute little animal that wanted to go everywhere with you as it hated being alone. Landau paced up and own the corridor thinking over his answer in his head over and over again pacing up and down freaking out the security officers standing at the door. His height kind of scared them as he towered over them and everyone on this ship.

They seemed freaked out and kept staring at me like they wanted something or wanted to ask me a question as Martin kept pacing up and down the empty corridor bag in hand, Martin was thinking should he disturb the young lady or should his question wait for when she was out of confinement. But he was bored had nothing better to do since his species had such a short rest period which got really boring after you awoke. Landau decided to press the button and ask his question being so bored it was best to go bug someone who was itching for company being confined

Melody was in the process of reviewing the report that Ensign Li had brought her the night before. She was due on the bridge for her duty shift shortly and wanted to make sure she was up to date on all relevant information. When the door chime sounded she looked up and called "Come"

Martin watched the doors glide open as he stepped into the room hearing the call

She smiled as the door opened "Ah, what can I do for you this morning Lieutenant?" She gestures to the empty seat next to her desk "Would you like some coffee?

"Ah nice meeting you again under these circumstances" Martin explained standing by the door "Ill pass on the drink i'm not going to stay long to keep you from duty" Martin explained the spoke some more " I have this issue my sister is back at my home world dealing with the estate and she has offered me the family pet. Since you have pet I thought I'd ask your opinion as she thinks it will suit me and my personality but I don't think it will suit being on a starship"

Melody thought for a moment "Well there are a few things to consider. For one do you know your pet would be happy in space? I've heard that some animals can't adjust to being on a starship. Also size can be a factor. Will it fit into your quarters? As you can see, Nibbels here doesn't take up that much room" she gestured to the habitat "I would show her to you but she is asleep at the moment and she tends to get a rather cranky if I wake her" she added smiling "Then also to think about is will it be ok on its own in your quarters while you're on duty? There's food as well. Can you get food for it easily. It doesn't drink the blood of the innocent dose it?" She asked, totally deadpan.

"They remind me of a similar monster from a certain movie the 4th year cadets made us watch. I cant remember the name but its a lot bigger like koala size without the movies idea of don't feed it after midnight, stay away from water and things. It did have this cute outfit dad made before his last trip that ended in disaster. It looked quite adorable in the starfleet uniform and it used to follow mum around everywhere wearing it. Dad had even put a rank on the uniform, and it used to get a bit upset if you took it off to wash it. I think it bit me once trying to take it off." Martin explained.

Leaning against the wall, he continued "I don't see what my sister sees in it to give the animal to me but its quite intelligent. I don't see why I should take a creature that wants to go everywhere with you onto a starship but I don't see much choice" Landau replied looking a Melody to see what the response was or what she would say next as her advice.

Melody chuckled "A little outfit? That's so cute. I would love to see that. You're thinking of a Mogwai. I knew someone who was big into 20th century entertainment at the academy."

She sighed and brushed the hair out of her eyes "At the end of the day, its up to you. Why is your sister insisting you take the pet?"

"She thinks it will help me with my various problems and issues in a way that might make it easier to control or get rid of some of these things. Its either I take it and call it a crew member of sorts or if we both don't want the pet it goes into quarantine at a government facility to either be put down or adopted or even worse dissected for research studies" Martin explained looking at the officer for reassurance and more advice that might lead to a decision about the creatures future or if it became some sort of crew member. You could leave the pet alone for short periods but it preferred being around you and helping out then sleeping four hours and wanting to go everywhere with you most of the time.

There where a couple of aliens in Starfleet that didn't speak, quite intelligent and wore a uniform and got on well with the crew. Landau was thinking maybe a sidekick or something as a way round its nature of wanting to be with you almost all the time everywhere. Martin spoke to the officer again with an idea of sorts maybe she would think it either an interesting idea or a great idea or better yet terrible "Maybe if I was to take the creature aboard, a sidekick springs to mind. Sometimes people have an alien or animal they call there sidekick. Maybe when being alone on an outpost for years or when travelling alone it either keeps them from going insane, or just for company."

Melody smiled at the thought of the imposing figure of Landau with a furry sidekick in a little uniform. "If it's going to be with you all the time you'll probably have to clear that with the Captain. I'd love to meet the little fella, he sounds adorable and I might........ be persuaded to look after it when you are really busy. Not all the time mind you." She added quickly. "I hope I've been able to help."

Martin looked at the lady standing there all smart and ready for the start of the shift. Martin was also supposed to be on duty, but had swapped with someone else for a later shift. He could see the woman was eager to get on duty as Landau could see it was her only break from being confined to quarters. "If there is nothing else to discuss then I wont keep you from your duty shift" Martin explained

Melody rose from her seat "Well, as I said I hope I was helpful. Let me know what you finally decide and if the little fella dose come on board, I'd love to meet it."
