Mission: Escape from Dark Ventures, Sav's Tail
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD10
743 words - 1.5 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

After hearing about the incident in sickbay, Melody was worried about her friend. Walking with purpose she walked in sickbay and into Doctor Millers Office.

"Caroline!" She called out upon seeing her "I heard what happened, are you ok?"

"I didn't even know her name," the blond said sadly. "It all happened so fast."

Melody looked at her friend closely. Her face was pale and her hands were shaking slightly. Whatever had happened must have been horrific to affect Caroline so badly. Melody knew that Caroline normally possessed nerves of steal - Except when it came to fancy flying of course!

She reached out her hand "Come on, I think we need a drink" and proceeded to lead her to the Round Table.

They entered the bar and Melody sat her friend down at a table who seemed to be still in a state of shock as she offered not much resistance. "Wait here."

Melody went over to the bar and returned with a bottle Saurian brandy and two glasses. Placing one in front of Caroline, she poured a generous amount into both.

"Now then" Melody started "If you don't want to talk about it that's fine, but it really would help. Believe me, I know" Recalling how she had felt better after talking about her parents with Save'ena.

Caroline took a sip of whatever her friend had put in front of her. "Geez this is awful ...." she muttered gasping for air as the offending liquid burned her throat. Never the less she took another sip then frowned at her hand holding the glass. It was shaking.

She promptly put it down and locked eyes with the redhead opposite her. "All of them woke up. The two men first. Then the female. She had given birth Melody, recently from her perspective and the Captain hadn't ..... well the baby either perished or it's in that last pod we couldn't save. She was so angry. We witnessed their psy powers first hand. She ..... it looked like she boiled his blood from the inside with her mind and his head flew off. I thought we were going to be next. Poof, 30 seconds dead, up against a power we had no control or defence against."

Melody listened to her friend with a shocked expression on her face, her hand over her mouth. When Caroline had finished, Melody was too stunned to speak for a moment. She picked up her glass tossed the entire contents back in one. Placing the glass back down, she winced slightly "God.............. You're right................ That is awful. Here, have some more." as she topped up Caroline's glass and refilled her own. "Come on, it'll take the edge off."

Caroline frowned at the liquid but took a sip. Then she screwed her face up. "Ugggg."

"You know what the worst part is though?" she said after a moment. Whoever it is who got the other pod. If that babies in there and they revive it, god knows what they will do to the poor thing. And if there had been time, if she had been willingly maybe we could have found out if the child was in it and reunited mother and child maybe. Now there may be a reanimated baby, the last of its species, all alone."

Melody reached out and took Caroline's hand "Hey, there was nothing you could have done so don't go blaming yourself ok?"

"I know," she said softly. "Its just difficult. Lets talk about something else. How are you?"

Melody smiled "I'm fine. Things are finally getting back to normal. Hopefully I'll have a chance for a little rest on shore leave. I'm sure something will turn up, it normally dose. Do you have any plans?"

Caroline nodded. "I am meeting up with an old colleague from medical school at the starbase. He's an expert in his field. And an old friend."

"I might do some shopping with Save'ena tomorrow and maybe some lunch, i hear there is an extensive promenade at the Starbase that's worth a look." Shew tossed back the rest of her drink and pulled a face that suggested she shouldn't have. She the stood to leave, as she did she rested her hand on Caroline's shoulder "Hey if you ever want ot talk some more, my door is always open."

Caroline nodded at her friend. "Thanks."
