Catching up with a friend

Melody had brought Sansa to see Caroline for a counselling session. Due to her..... Unique childhood, Starfleet medical had thought it best that Both Sansa and Melody had some counselling.

Also Caroline was an old friend of Melody’s and she hadn’t see her in a while and was looking forward to catching up.

Melody entered the officer and smiled when she saw her friend. “Hello Caroline. It’s been a while”.

“Melody,” Caroline grinned. “Oh am I glad to see you. But how? When did you get here,” she indicated for her to sit.

As her friend stepped aside, the blond gasped. “Sansa?”

She returned her gaze to Melody for confirmation. “Come here darling,” she hugged the younger girl. Then stepped back and looked at Mel again. “I thought they had stabilised the accelerated growth?”

Melody sighed as she regarded her daughter. “They have now. Sansa should age like normal from now but she has lost about 13 years of her life.”

Melody ruffled Sansa’s hair, to which the young girl pulled a face and let out a “Mom……”

“I’m still not sure how I’m going to tell her father about this.” Melody mused. She moved over to Caroline and embraced her “It’s good to see you. I’ve been assigned here by Starfleet research to carry out some upgrades on the ship’s systems and carry out some field tests. Not sure how long its going to take. I’d say lets have a drink and catch up but unfortunately this is an official session so, the drink will have to wait. That’s why I’m here. What brings you back to the Merlin?

"Well you know I retrained as a counselor," she said. "I was working in a junior position on the Agamemnon to gain experience. It got ordered to help the Merlin and I got ordered by starfleet to transport over here immediatly as Chief counselor. Take a seat both," she indicated the couch.

"So offical session. What can I help you with?" she asked.

"This is Starfleet's idea not mine" Melody sighed as she sat down next to Sansa. "The Doctor who managed to stableize Sansa's aging recommended that we go see a counsellor to talk about what has happened."

Melody blew air through her lips "You know my thoughts about Doctors Caroline, besides you. But I know these sessions will help. I love my daughter and I want to do what's best for her." She added as she took Sansa'a hand in hers and gave it a squeeze.

Caroline nodded. "No one is ever going to question that Melody.

Ok where to start," she sat down again and looked at Sansa, "How are you feeling? Your accelerated childhood, its not hindered you making any friends or with any understanding?" she asked.

Sansa took a deep breath "Ok...... I guess. I had some friends when we were stationed back on Earth. I've not had chance top meet anyone on the Merlin."

"I am sure I can arrange to introduce you to some other children. The Captain has a daughter you know," she smiled at Sansa.

Sansa gave Melody's hand a squeeze "Look, i know mom went through the same thing as me, only she had it worse. She's told me what happened to her and how we lost her parents so i'm sure ill get though this because she is here with me." The young girls lip trembled slightly but she managed a smile, although her eyes were sad.

Caroline placed her hand on top of Sansa's and said softly, "It would be a scary experience for anyone, even with a parent. Would you like some hot chocolate sweetheart. The replicators right there," she indicated. As the young girl seemed to warm to the idea, a small flash of a smile passing her features Caroline moved closer to Melody and whispered. "She's putting on a very brave face. I think it will take a few sessions for her open up properly."

Melody stole a glance at Sansa while she was at the replicator and whispered back "I know. She's stonger than I was but she's keeping a lot bottled up inside." Melody sighed "She acts so grown up, I need her to know what it's like to be a child sometimes........." Melody suddenly raised her voice "Yes, we are talking about you so you might was well come back over here." noticing that Sansa was stood quietly pretending to drink her hot chocolate.

Sansa came back over and sat down, her cheeks red.

"Sansa, I want to schedule some time just you and me, and then probably some more time you, me and your mum. I'm also going to introduce you to some more children on the ship as it will help you settle in and make some friends. Does that feel okay?" Caroline asked.

Sansa noddd slowly then looked at Melody "Sorry mum. I didnt mean to evesdrop."

Melody smiled back at her "It's ok Sweetheart." Then to Caroline "Thank you. I'm glad that you're here."

Caroline stood up and hugged Melody again, "Me too. It great to have my best friend back. And my beautiful god daughter."
