Rionuj had just finished going over the data collected by his subordinates and made his way to the bridge. He noticed that his CO was not in her chair and made his way to her Ready Room. He pressed the chime at the door.

Melody called out "Come!"

The door opened and Melody saw who was waiting. "Ah, come in Commander. Please have a seat. I take it this is the first lot of information that you have compiled on me?"

"Not yet ma'am," the Andorian tapped his PADD and had it display a holographic representation of the information his team had gathered about sector 715, "this is sector 715 ma'am. My team has collected as much information as they could and even provided five possible tactical encounters. I reviewed the data myself with them, then on my own and ran used a tactical algorithm I created while I was a student and perfected while I was a spook. Well, technically I am a spook again."

The Andorian groaned. He didn't mind having the access to Intel's resources and having the ability to access certain functions of a ship's computer that only a Captain could have, it was just that his primary job was to spy on his CO.

"Anyways, I all of that is listed in exhausting detail in case you want it. My concern is an asteroid base possible miners. Though I suspect more.

Melody looked over the information carefully. "A mining operation shouldn't be too much to worry about. Are there no know natural phenomenon that we should be concerned about?"

"An unauthorized mining station is of no concern ma'am?" he asked as his antennae twitched; "and I sent the data to Ensign Solara in the science department I'm waiting..."

The Andorian was interrupted by a chime at the door.

Melody' head snapped up. "You didn't say anything about it being unauthorized." She then called out. "Come!"

Ensign Solara entered into the ready room. She was a tall slender dark-skinned Vulcan woman. Her shrewd eyes quickly surveyed the room. At her waist was a holstered tricorder, and in her left hand was a PADD. When she passed the threshold she nodded at the two superior officers.

"Salutations Captain and Commander, I have completed the analysis of the data sent to me by Commander Anidem;" she switched the PADD over to her right hand and used her left forefinger to swipe up to transmit the data to the hologram being projected by the Captain's desk. Her data overlayed the Commander's data.

"I was able to use the long range sensors in Astrometrics to enhance what we received from some of the probes. It appears that there is an uncharted nebula, unfortunately, we are too far to get any reliable data on it. Several gaseous anomalies of unknown composition. Evidence of two star systems capable of supporting life, again we are too far for reliable data. And the unregistered asteroid base."

Rio studied the new data, he was still annoyed with himself for not telling Commander Jones that the base was unregistered. He waited to what his CO's response was going to be.

Melody studied the new PADD. "Thank you Ensign. Good work." She looked back to the Andorian "Weather it is authorized or not, It's not like the Federation has much jurisdiction out here. As long as they are abiding by interstellar law..."

Rio was studying the holo and noticed something, "Ensign, my team didn't have any federation vessels in sector 715, yey according to your data there are Federation signatures near this base."

"My scans are more recent than yours sir. I have the long-range sensors locked on to the mining facility for that reason. I also found elevated tachyon emissions and several signatures belonging to Orion, Ferengi, and Gorn vessels."
The Vulcan scientist checked her PADD again.

"Federation signatures in an area with species not formally allied with the Federation. It seems reasonable that we send a team to investigate Commander."

Melody nodded. "Very good Commander. Take a team and investigate and keep me informed of your progress."
