Despite nursing a slight hangover, The Merlin was due to leave today and Melody though she had better say goodby to her new friend. Amelia was still on her Honeymoon and she didn't want to disturb her wedding night so she had sent a message for her.
A bottle of green liquid in hand, she beamed aboard the Andromeda and headed for the Captain's ready room.
She pressed the chime.
"Come in," Jon said towards the door. He looked up and spotted the bottle in Melody's hand. "Commander. What can I do for you?" he asked.
He thought the Merlin was making preparations to leave. Also, his experience with Melody Jones was confirming her reputation for being someone who could outdrink many a captain.
Melody placed the bottle on Jon's desk. "We'll be departing to resume our original mission to sector 715 within the hour, I just thought I'd come and say goodbye for now and I look forward to our next meeting. I've left a message for Amelia. I didn't want to disturb the lovebirds on their honeymoon."
She gestured to the bottle. "A gift. Aldebaran whisky, not replicated. Be careful, it's strong stuff." She added with a smile.
Melody then held out her hand to Jon. "It's been an honour serving with you Captain Reynolds."
Jon took it firmly. "And you Commander Jones. We certainly couldn't have taken that thing down without you or the Europa. May your next mission be less exciting this time around," Jon smiled.
"One can hope but you never know what's going to happen out there." Melody said with a wistful expression. "Do you know what the Andromeda's next mission is going to be?"
"Yes, we get to transfer some supplies to the Meladoste colony. They seem to have requested to expand and have more materials and then one that got approved gone quiet. Hopefully, it's not too much to worry about," Jon said.
"Eddie said Sansa was going to stay in touch with him," he told her. "Our kids subspace pals ehh."
Melody nodded "Indeed. Well, I better be getting back. Safe travels Captain."
"And to you." Jon replied.
