Melody had spent that evening helping Sansa put all of her belongings into moving boxes ready for the next day. She stood and looked at the now empty room for a moment and started to tear up. Sansa paused and came over to her "Mom, you ok?"
"Yes Sweetie, I'm ok... It's just... My little girl is moving out."
Sansa hugged her mother "Don't you worry, I'm not going far, and besides, I'll still call in for dinner and to babysit." she added as she gently patted Melodys slightly swollen stomach.
"Come on, your father is cooking some of that fish he caught the other night which he brought home with him." She sighed "I'm going to be huge..."
Sansa took her hand "You're still the Captain, invincible. Even if you are huge."
"Oh! Thanks for that. Come on."
They headed back into the main living area.
Draxx flipped the catfish seasoning it again with Cajun spice. He placed the root tuber salad he had been working on in the middle of the table and moved his potatoes around in the other pan. They were starting to get very crispy. "I would say we are done here," he told them. "Places ladies please."
Like a shot, Sansa was sat down ready to eat.
Melody laughed as she came in and sat down next to her. "I've never seen her move as fast as when there's food involved. This all looks delicious darling," She added to Draxx and she gave him a kiss as he placed a plate in front of her.
"I'm all packed up now Dad," Sansa said as she started to tuck into the fish. "Mmmmm, this is really good."
"Well, I can cook you know. Several years working in an Italian you do pick up some skills," Draxx said. "You want some to take to Hayley?"
Sansa smiled "I might just take you up on that Dad but you should know, I've been taking some cooking lessons and I've got pretty good. While we were on earth, I made Hayley a very nice game stew.
Melody looked impressed. "Well done Sweetie. Aren't you just full of surprises?" Melody then felt something on her foot and she looked down. "Erm Sweetie, did you let Nibbles out this evening?"
Sansa shook her head "No mum, why?"
Melody bent down and picked up the small hedgehog and put him on the table. "Then we have an escape artist on our hands here."
The small hog started snigging towards Melody's plate and she took a small bit of fish and put it in front of her, which she promptly started devouring.
"Looks like your fish is a bit hit with Nibbles too Sweetie." She said to Draxx with a smile.
"Well I had to find something eventually he deemed worthy," Draxx quipped. He stood up and pulled out another plate adding some fish and nudged it to the hedgehog.
“When I’ve got settled in, we’ll have to have you and dad over and I’ll cook for you.” Sansa said with a grin.
Melody looked up surprised but covered it well. “That sounds lovely Sweetie. We'll look forward to that, won’t we dear?”
"Just make extra sweetheart so I do infract have something to eat," Draxx said seriously. Then winced from the kick under the table.
Melody cast him a sideways glance before stealing a piece of fish straight off his plate.
Sansa just shook her head and chuckled. "The more things change, the more they stay the same..."
