Sansa had not had a chance to talk to her father after the BBQ. His negative reaction to her moving in with Hayley was upsetting her so she was going to talk to him under some more favourable circumstances. Draxx was sat on the terrace after the family meal that evening. A bottle of red wine in one hand and two glasses in the other, she approached and stopped near him.
"Hi Dad. Can we talk? I brought a bottle."
"Bringing out the big guns ehh," Draxx said nodding. "So this is about your intention to move in with Hayley then."
Sansa sat down next to him and pour two glass of wine. She slid one towards him. "I borrowed this from Mom's supply. It's not replicated. Yes, that's what's this is about." she confirmed deciding to skip the preamble and cut to the chase.
"Dad, I love her and I want to be with her. I know that we're still finding out things about each other but I'm certain she's the one I want to be with. And, I won't be far away and we can still spend time together." she added, trying to reassure him. "Also, you won't have to worry about the thin wall in our quarters when you and mom want to... Ahem..."
"She is the first person you have ever been with and Sansa you dive in so fast with everything. It doesn't need to be this fast. Also, you haven't figured out what you want to do with your life yet. If you get into a serious relationship so young it might hinder other opportunities. I'm just concerned that you are going to miss out," Draxx told her.
Sansa let out a short laugh. “Miss out! Dad! I'm 4 years old yet I've got the mind and body of an eighteen year old. Sometimes I feel like all I've done is miss out. Miss out on me and mum, miss out on you and me and maybe that's why I dive in with everything to make each day count.” she had become quite worked up by her outpouring and she now took a deep breath to calm herself.
“Yes, she may be my first but I also know, deep down that she's the one.”
"I believe you believe that sweetheart and I hope your right but I worry really I do that if you push everything so quickly all the time you will miss further opportunities. I feel like your rushing experiences and also I do hate to say this but Hayley is the only person you have been with. How do you know there isn't anyone out there that you could like and fit better with?" He took another sip of the wine and sighed.
Look, Sansa, I can't stop you and I wouldn't. I know just how headstrong I was at 18. I can be happy for you but I'm not sure this is the right move especially so soon," Draxx said honestly. "And I'm your dad I'm supposed to want the very best for you. Sometimes what I see and you see may not be on the same page. I'm not going to fall out with you but I am going to be honest enough to say it to your face."
She thought for a moment "Not exactly the ringing approval I was looking for but I'll take it. So you mean I can move in with Hayley?"
"I think we both know your ploughing forward with that regardless sweetheart," Draxx stated.
She immediately erupted into a big smile "Oh Dad! you're the best!" She said as she lent over and wrapped her arms around him.
"I'm trying to be the best I can be," Draxx amended for her. "Just don't go get engaged in a week. Seriously Sansa."
"Don't worry Dad, the engagement is the week after next." SHe replied straight-faced, before erupting into laughter. "Only joking Dad. I've got to go and find Hayley and tell her the good news. I'll let you finish the bottle off..." she gestured to the wine. "Love you." she added and gave him a peck on the cheek.
"Love you sweetheart but I mean it, you tell me next week you're getting married I'm not walking you down the aisle. Go slower in all this please," Draxx called after her.
Sansa practically ran back to the room where she found Hayley reading a book on the bed. Sansa jumped onto the bed next to her and started jumping up and down, a huge grin on her face "he said YES, he said YES, HE SAID YES!!"
Having been thoroughly bounced around to the point that the book she'd been holding had now gone flying off the bed, Hayley couldn't help but be amused by Sansa's child-like excitement at being given permission to move in with her. Hayley suspected it hadn't been quite that straight forward, but the fact that it was going to be happening was a huge step forward for the two of them. She'd never actually lived with someone before, relationship wise, so this was all new territory for her as well as for Sansa.
Finally starting to feel sick from all the bed-rocking that her teenage room-mate was generating with her bouncing, Hayley yanked Sansa down onto the bed, causing her to fall somewhat on-top of Hayley. "That's excellent news!" Hayley said, grinning, giving Sansa a huge hug. "We'll have to start moving your stuff in as soon as possible then!"
Sansa stayed on top of Hayley, gazing down at her brushing the long blond hair from her face. She was still giddy with excitement. "This is really happening! When we get back on the Merlin, I'll start getting my stuff together. Do you want the left side or the right side of the bed?" she asked as she snuggled closer into her.
"Given how you sleep, I'll have whatever sliver of the bed you leave for me..." Hayley smirked.
