Mathias came into sick bay holding his arm, the one which had been injured on the planet. He hadn't waited for it to be completely healed, before he went to train with Scarlet. He wanted to make himself a bit more skilled in firearms and such especially due to Caroline having left the ship. However he pushed himself too hard and now Scarlet wasn't exactly angry at him, but more disappointed. That made Mathias not too happy with himself. With a deep sigh he made his way to where he could get help. He looked around to see whom was there. He walked up to where Dr. Khyl was at, "Hey Doctor, so would you take a look at my arm please?" having a sheepish expression in his gaze.

Kyhl looked over at Mathias and then glanced at the indicated arm. "It goes from shoulder to hand, as it should. Good so far Lieutenant, what seems to be the issue?"

"Well it seems I have been a rather bad man, and did something I shouldn't have done." giving a shrug of his uninjured arm. " Caroline's gone and I couldn't do anything about it, she was kidnapped." Mathias manfully trying not to have his voice crack with the emotions he was feeling.

Kyhl raised a white eyebrow. "Lieutenant, what you seem to be describing is psychosomatic. Your manifesting your emotional and mental pain into physical pain or injury." She walked a little closer to Mathias. "I'm not the best at those types of issues and would recommend you speak with Ensign Bumble actually."

"I don't think this is psychosomatic Khyl" Mathias responded wincing when he moved his arm wrong, raising it up from how he was holding it. "I reinjured this arm the one that had been shot by a disruptor." he grunted out.

"You're as bad as a doctor for a patient." Kyhl sighed. She motioned to the bio bed. "You're lucky your arm wasn't vaporized in the first place, you needed rest for your nerves and tissues to become healthy and stable again."

Mathias nodded, "I got to impatient. I didn't way long enough." he answered somberly.

Kyhl walked over and pulled the scanner out of her pocket and began slowly moving it over his arm and taking her readings. The expression on her face did not convey good news.

Mathias's heart sank at the expression in her eyes. "Okay, what's the bad news, I'm not going to be losing my arm am I? I didn't injure that arm badly did I?

"Not losing Mathias, but you've managed to get a few significant tears deep in the musculature tissue. Too deep for a standard regenerator I'm afraid." Kyhl sighed as she snapped the scanner shut and put it away.

"You have three choices right now. Continue what you've been doing without treatment and risk losing partial use of your arm, we immobilize your arm in a stasis casting and hope it recovers within two to three months, or you can get prepped for minor surgery while I manually repair the tears and you'll be on light duties for a couple of days."

Mathias looked at Kyhl and didn't hesitate. "I'll take the surgery, and I do apologize for being such a moron. I don't want to do anything more to mess up the arm. And I'm quite a bit disappointed in myself. I even disappointed Scarlet, and that is not a comfortable feeling." giving a rueful shake of his head.

Kyhl raised an eyebrow. "The Major? Did he force you into aggravating your injury?" She pursed her lips into into a slight scowl. "I'm not a fan of his attitude to be honest."

Mathias put up a hand, "No he didn't make me do this, and he's not bad guy either. In fact once he found out what was going on, he sent me packing rather quickly. Told me in no uncertain to not come back until I get medical approval."

"Hmmmm... alright." Kyhl motioned toward a biobed. "Remove your jacket and shirt. We're slow enough right now I'll grab a nurse and we'll fit you in right away."

Mathias shrugged out of his jacket and the shirt wincing as he did so. Then he was ready for the surgery.

As Mathias moved to get ready, Kyhl blocked out the time and began gathering her tools. The system automatically notified a nurse on duty to come to the surgical bay so they would arrive shortly.

Mathias was on the bio bed awaiting the surgery to start. "So, since I've not been through this sort of procedure tell me, what will be happening? "

Kyhl wheeled over a long table and gently moved Mathias's arm to rest on it as he lay on the bio bed. "Well, simple enough really. I'm going to make an incision and use a deep tissue probe to knit the tissue back together. It's more invasive, but also more precise than a regular regenerator." She looked up as the nurse approached and motioned to Mathias. "We're going to use a local anesthetic on your arm as well as a screen. You won't feel a thing."

Mathias nodded, "I trust you." he remarked and waited for the procedure to start. He still felt foolish for doing what he did, however what's done is done, now he had to get this taken care of.

Nurse Templeton places a blue screen around the shoulder, blocking Mathias from seeing what was being done before using a hypospray to numb the arm as well as keep it from moving.

Kyhl poked Mathias's bicep. "Did you feel that?"

Mathias looked at Kyhl. "No I do not feel it. Feels rather strange to be quite honest." he remarked. "Gives me an interesting perception to say the least." he settled in and made certain to not move about.

Kyhl nodded to the nurse and lifted her tools to get to work. "So Mr. McPhee, you've been through quite the ordeal but we have you in good hands now." She made the incision quickly as the nurse assisted her in flushing it and keeping it clean. She gritted her teeth when she saw the damage the affected tissue was discoloured and had a strange texture.

"Remember when we were all at that lovely pub?" Kyhl continued, making conversation to keep Mathias occupied. "I really enjoyed that night."

"I am glad that you enjoyed it." Mathias getting a bit of a dreamy expression in his eyes as he went back in his memories. "I certainly enjoyed it and so magical. It was wonderful going back home, I wasn't expecting such a turn out though and just how happy they all seemed to be, in that performance. Did you meet anyone of interest there?" Mathias being a bit curious on that.

"I danced with a nice silver haired boy." Kyhl said with a slight grin. She caught a look from Nurse Templeton and her grin became a little more playful as she spoke. "Nothing came of it, don't even remember his name really."

"Tissue stitcher nurse," Kyhl asked as she put down her current tool and was quickly handed the stitcher. It used a modified light beam to cause the tissue to become active and stitch itself together, and older tool but why improve on something that does it's job perfectly?

Kyhl guided the light beam over the exposed tissue, glad to see the proper colour return as it activated and slowly pulled itself together. "Almost done Mathias. You're doing great."

"I know the crew that came to experience that event, you, Caroline, Anya; you were the talk of the town. Some of them thought you were fae." Mathias remarked with a smile. "The silver haired boy, he asked me about you, seemed to have fallen under your spell as he put it. I told him that I could deliver a message to you, about his hearts desire but I also warned him that you may or may not contact him in return. Told him to just file that evening under a night of enchantment." Mathias glancing over towards Kyhl.

Kyhl caught a grin from Nurse Templeton and chuckled. "He's best remembering the good time and leaving it at that. Active starfleet is busy enough, active starfleet doctor is busier. Doesn't give much time for romance."

"Dermal regenerator Nurse." Kyhl said after a moment. Templeton quickly grabbed the regenerator from the tray and handed it.

"Just going to patch you up and then we wake your arm up." Kyhl said as she pinched the skin together and ran the regenerator over it, sealing it closed without even a scar. "Now, I will warn you, this will sting when your nerves wake up."

"It will probably feel better than the injury from that disrupter." Mathias remarked, and grunted as the nerves started waking up. "Oh dang that is a bit painful but a good pain." giving a bit of a grimace.

"The tissue is still healing Mathias. So take it easy for a few days." She began cleaning up the tray and tidying the area as Nurse Templeton took the tools away. "That means no playing Marine, understood?"

Mathias chuckled, "I promise, besides if I don't let myself heal, Scarlet's not going to be very happy with me. He may even make me walk out the airlock with out a suit on." giving a teasing wink. "He's not that bad really but... I don't want to face another disappointed look from him. No wonder he is able to keep his men and women in line. That look, no one likes to face that expression at all."

Kyhl rolled her eyes. What was everyone's deal with Scarlet. He was just another macho jarhead as far as she was concerned. "Alright Mathias, whatever the reason, just take care you don't end up back on my table."

"I will do my best." Mathias giving her a nod. "I don't want to mess up this fantastic work you did." smiling, "And I can continue on my artwork and other projects, after I rest up the arm." sliding off the bio-bed to his feet. "I have two cribs I need to give to the captain."

"Yes, we still need to plan that babyshower for her as well." Kyhl said with a sly smile. "Oh what do you get a Captain who has everything?"

Mathias nodded, " I have no clue as to what you can get, but I do suggest a lot of diapers" giving a chuckle, "Or even some cute clothing for the children. We'll be able to think of something." Giving a smile to Kyhl.
