ON:

John had heard the fleet of ships had arrived and who was requesting to come aboard. He left strait from sickbay with his uniform still covered in blood, but, that was partially hidden by his unzipped tunic. When he came into the transporter room he looked at the transporter chief, "hey Chief, is she ready?"

Chief Collins who was on duty in Transporter Room 3, came to attention when the Captain entered.

She reported "There are two standing by to transport over from the USS Luna Sir."

"Two?" John asked and raised an eyebrow before nodding, "bring them over," he added after a second then smiled as Melody and a young girl materialized on the platform, "well, I wasn't told I was getting two new officers," he said jovily and walked over, extending his hand, "Melody, it's good to see you again," he said then extended his hand to the girl after shaking Melody's, "hi there, I'm John."

Melody smiled warmly as she took Barstow's hand "Hello Captain, it's good to be back"

As soon as she had matereralized, the younger lady was looking round the room with wide eyes. Muttering to herself "They've upgraded the phase transition coils........... Hmmmmmm not bad......"

She was so lost in examining the transporter she didn't notice Barstows extended hand until Melody cleared her throat to get her attention.

She took Barstows hand "Oh hello...... Whoa Captain........" She looked shocked when she clocked the pips on his collar. She blushed and brushed a strand of red hair from her face. "I'm sorry Sir, I didn't mean to be rude. Fine ship you have here. My mom tells stories of when she was your best helm officer."

Melody took a breath. She had not had a chance to brief Barstow and she had visions of picking him up off the floor in a moment. "This is my daughter, Sansa."

"Your daugh....." Apollo started and blinked, looking back to the 13 year old girl. After a second he pushed the shock aside and smiled again, "no need to apologize, Sansa, you weren't being rude," he assured her, "and I hope those stories were't to bad, I'm not nearly as bad as I sound,' he added jokingly and motioned for them to step down, "sounds like you might enjoy seeing engineering and our ICOS A/I?" he offered.

The young girls eye's lit up "oh yes, I really want to see the new warp core...." she turned to her mother with a pleading look.

"It's ok with me, the Captain and I have a lot to discuss. Just remember........"

"Not to play with the warp core ejection controls." Sansa finished. "I know, I know. I was just having a look." she protested.

"I'm sure you were Sweetie." Melody smiled, then turned to Barstow "Ready room?"

Apollo chuckled, "yes, please, no pressing the red buttons," he said with a smirk, "and aye, we can start the tour on the bridge and Sav can take over while we talk?" he asked as he lead the two out of the transporter room.

Melody smiled at the mention of her..... special friend. It would be good to see her again. Gesturing for Sansa to follow her. "Lead the way Captain."

John motioned to the door, letting the two out first then following, "so, you're the head of the repair and upgrade team, how did you end up in the engineering corps?"

They entered the turbolift "Well, Starfleet Command started a new series of training programs for officers who wanted to boraden their skill base." Melody started "And it seemed a good idea to learn more about what made the ships go fast...... and possibly get some more speed out of them aswell." She gave a sly wink to the Captain. "It turns out I had a nack with warp field theory and application so they put me incharge of the experimantal upgrade program."

Sansa chimed in at this point "Mum loves going fast. That's what she said my dad called her."

Melody's cheeks flushed and she turned to her daughter "Sansa, Please!. I'm sorry Captain, my daughter tends to be rather blunt sometimes."

John chuckled, "yes, she does," he replied to Sansa the gave a dismissive waive of his hand, "it's ok, blunt is a good thing," he replied with a smile.

As the turbolift arrived on the bridge Melody commented “I understand Caroline has trained as a counsellor as well now”

Barstow nodded, "aye, it's almost like you planned a return together," he joked then motioned to the door, "Sansa, how would you like to check out helm?"

Melody did a double take “Caroline’s back onboard? That’s great. We spoke over subspace a few weeks ago. Won’t it be good to see Caroline again Sansa? Sansa?”

Melody soon realised that she was talking to thin air, as Sansa had made a beeline for the helm as soon as the Captain had spoke and was looking over the shoulder of the ensign on duty, taking everything in.”

“Cool. It’s a lot more complicated than the shuttle helm mum let fly. That’s the warp filed Controls, persmeters, engine power display, is that navigational input? How fast have you got her running? If you rephased the field you might get a more stable field....”

The ensign was listening open mouthed to the torrent of technical questions coming out of this young girls mouth.

Melody moved over to he daughter placed a hand on her shoulder “Easy there Sweetie. I’m sure you’ll be flying this ship soon enough.”

She turned back to Barstow and smiled “Ever the eager beaver. Well Captain shall we go over what upgrades I’ll be overseeing?”
