Personal log ::
Couldn't be more happy, and anxious, if truth be told ...
During my meeting with Commander Barstow, he informed me that he was willing to forego the six-month wait to get Family members aboard the Merlin. not only is he allowing my wife Lana, and my little girls, Kenzi and Mia, to be brought out immediately, he has decided that the ship needs a school, somewhere where all the children of serving Families can be educated in unison, so to speak.
Unbeknown to me, the Commanding Officer had made some extremely complicated and in-depth arrangements behind my back:
Despite the upcoming mission status, he had taken the time to speak with my Wife on Earth, and once she had agreed to his proposal, he then contacted my former Commanding Officer and arranged passage ... Makes me wonder if he would have told the Galapagos to turn around had our 'meeting' not gone well, but that, thankfully, is not an issue.
Work is already underway to remove several bulkheads to make one large 'classroom' and two smaller study rooms, plus an office for the soon to arrive Head of Education. I cannot wait to see them, and to see what the girls think of now [effectively] living on a Star Ship out somewhere, and not at their home, where they can jump in the pool when the urge arises, or go to the park, or play with their friends, now left behind. I'm sure they will be upset to a small extent, but both my Children are capable of seeing the unknown and embracing it.

I have met with my Deputy Department Heads ... Both ranked Lieutenant Junior Grade, they seem competent and well-informed. I'm looking forward to working with both of them during our current outing.
Emma McNeil, my Deputy in Security, and Raf Greem, my Tactical Deputy. I'll meet and greet the rest of the Department's Staff in due course, but the upcoming mission will test them I think.
Well, only an hour and half'ish, and they will be here. Better start to shift things out of view or I'll be sleeping in the crew quarters tonight .....
