Sat on the bed ...

I can't believe how well my evening went with Lana. I have to thank Carmen for taking on the role of 'Babysitter' for the evening. I had initially gone to the Crew Lounge while Lana put the girls to bed, not that they needed much encouragement after the day they had had. I had met up with Lieutenant Tillatix, and we had enjoyed drinks and conversation. I also met a crewman, seems I'm getting to finally meet and greet, maybe I should make the rounds in the next few days, it's a thought anyway.

Prior to getting back to my quarters I had spent time with Lysia T'Seng, my Department Deputy, going over what seemed like a never-ending pile of PADD's all containing schedules, repairs, requests for power allocation, and a myriad of other things, best, in an ideal universe, left until I was settled, but ours is far from settled, or ideal, and so we ploughed through information and work reports, at least until I had my first visitor since taking over as Chief of Operations: The newly-assigned Strategic Operations Officer seemingly 'presented' himself at my door as if awaiting a review. I was tentative at first, but soon warmed to the man, and I have the feeling we may become friends.

Lieutenant Landau and I had an in depth discussion regarding both our roles, though primarily his to be precise. While I was admittedly unsure of my abilities when Commander Barstow assigned me to the TIC, I thought I quickly adapted, and I feel this will be the same for Lieutenant Landau. His one benefit, if it could be called such, is that we are not currently in a direct conflict situation, though the situation regarding the Romulan and the Vulcan vessels could flare up without warning. The CSOP will be more than capable I am sure, but I have offered my assistance should he require it during his first days ...

Back to my evening: There's actually not much more I can comment, due to the erm, 'personal' nature of the conclusion, et-cetera, best to say if I could take her back there tomorrow, I'd move the Universe to do so. While highly improbable, it doesn't hurt to ponder the ramifications of such ability, hehe.

With effective effort we should be on top of things by zero nine hundred ships time today.

Lana opens the School today, her first class with new students, new pupils, and in a sense, new teachers, given up to now both Carmen Valente and Talia Pye had both visited students on a 'one-to-one' basis rather than in a classroom scenario. No idea why I'm worrying, maybe that's a Husband thing.

OK, Lana is getting restless with my constant chatter, note to self: don't do personal logs in the bedroom while you wife is asleep .....
