"Just a quick log here." David said said to himself, as he sat at his desk ...
"With Lana and the Children due home from their first day at school, Lana as Superintendent, Mackenzie and Mia as pupils, in an hour, I've spent an hour made sure our quarters were clean and tidy. Given my Daughters are both normally the personification of neatness, today was something different. We had rose early, allowing time for everyone to prepare, me for going to check on my department, and the rest of my Family for their first day.
I have contacted Major Johnson, our Ships' Councillor, who I believe is conducting one-to-one assessments of the Senior Staff for his records. Given Lana had expressed a desire to meet his fellow Officers as a prelude to making the Merlin their home for the foreseeable future, I had suggested to the Major that he could conduct my own psychological review in our quarters rather than in his office. somewhat surprisingly, he had agreed, expressing a desire to meet my Family. He is yet to confirm a time but I want to be ready, and given I have still to let Lana and the girls know we are about to have our first 'official' visitor, I'm a tad nervous. Not that Mackenzie or Mia would do anything to discredit me or their mother, but they do tend to be 'inquisitive' of newcomers to our little circle, and the last thing I want is the major to feel he's being assessed in return."
'It would be quite funny to see his reactions to being practically interrogated by a six and a four year old.' he thought, a wry smile forming as he carried numerous soft toys back into the Children's bedroom and out of sight.
"I've had time to complete my initial evaluation of my Assistant Operations Officer this morning. Her file doesn't do her justice, she's more than competent and as I've stated previously, I'm not sure why she has never been given the opportunity to head her own Department, but I'm sure her time will come. As for the remainder of the Junior Staff in my Department, I'll go through those files as I go.
We're currently disengaged from any untoward activity, but that can change at a seconds' notice given the nature of Starfleet.
Lana should be home in an hour. So onward."
