Personal Log :: SD 239312.25 - 22:40 hrs ...

Finally managed to put my feet up !

I'd been on duty earlier, then Lana and I had taken the girls to the holo-suite to re-enact one of Mia's favourite fairy tales, Snow White, before going back to our quarters to eat and rest (I needed it believe me) ... This evening we attended a Christmas party. I was quite surprised at the turnout as all the Senior Staff attended, along with practically all the crew at one time or another. We reacquainted ourselves with one or two of the crew, several from my own Department, along with Lana's two school teachers:

Carmen Valente and Talia Pye, both were younger than Lana, not that age made the slightest difference as long as they could do their jobs, and their credentials said they could do just that. Personally, I believe the school will have a long future.

Admittedly, neither of us are predominantly the 'outgoing' types and tend to wait for people to approach rather than making the proverbial 'first move' so to speak. But that said, we both thoroughly enjoyed the party. The girls circulated much better than we did, maybe we should learn from their example ? ... There were several children there, including the Captain's Daughter, Sierra, who is six years old I think, Mackenzie, as was her way, became friends instantly, maybe this will be something to help both Kenzie and Mia settle in. I know they are not used to ship-borne life, having never lived away from their home for more than a month at most, and then always going back. this time we had sat them down and explained the situation, giving both the opportunity to voice their opinions.

They did, and here we are.

Kenzie and Mia had bathed and dressed in their 'Christmas pyjamas' and had had their supper, now, both were blissfully asleep ... Lights dimmed, music on low, Lana too had changed, requested drinks from the replicator, and was awaiting my attendance on the sofa .... So with that ....
