Retail therapy - Part 2

Having finished their lunch, Melody and Sav were once again browsing the shops in the Starbase promenade. Melody's attention was soon caught by a striking black dress in a shop window. It was elegant, yet simple and very stunning. It was backless, low cut at the font and had a very healthy split up the side at the bottom right. Melody let out a low whistle of respect.

Sav had glanced at, but not really took in, what was in the window. Anything she would buy would have to be altered, and that generally meant costing more than the price of the clothing. However, the whistle, and that Melody was no longer beside her, stopped her in her tracks. She walked backwards towards where Melody had stopped. Looking in at what Melody was intently studying, Sav let out a quiet "Hrmmmm." The dress would show too much, well, for her, but, others had differing priorities. Sav smiled to Melody, saying, "Alright, common, you'll never know until you try it on to see if it fits in all the right places...", even as she grabbed Melody's hand and dragged her inside the store.

Melody smiled as she followed Save'ena into the shop.

Sav spotted a sales lady tidying up a rack of elegant dresses and came over to her. "Hi. We're interested in the black evening dress in the window."

The Sales Lady turned around and was caught off guard by a walking 'skunk' in front of her. Her name tag stated 'Nikky' and she was a curvy brunette sporting a size six dress. Her brows knitted together as she did a quick look-over of Sav and that large tail behind her.

Sav quickly interrupted her thought process, "Not to worry, not for me, it's for my friend here." Sav stepped aside to bring Melody to the fore.

Melody gave Nikki a little wave "Hello there. I'm Melody and this is my friend Save'ena."

Nikky beamed, "Hi Melody, Save'ena. Sorry for my momentary distraction, I was trying to think of a size and way for you, Save'ena, to try on the dress and have an idea of how it would look after alterations." She glanced over Melody, "You seem to be about a Medium 5 for that style of Dress. Does that sound about right?"

Melody thought for a minute "That sounds about right."

Nikki nodded and grinned. "I'll be right back." And with that she turned and went off to find the correct size. Melody continued to browse the various different sections of the store. Casual, sports ware, negligees.........

Sav, being ever helpful, followed along, removing the occasional clothing from the rack in front of them to hover over Melody to see if style, color, and fit were all there. This time, in the negligee section, Sav did not feel any melancholy as she was looking for something for Melody, who had chance for a husband, kitling, and life.

Melody's train of thought was interrupted when Nikki came back holding the black dress in the correct size "Here we are. There are some changing rooms just over there" she pointed to the rear of the store as she handed Melody the dress.

It was Melody's turn to grab Sav by the hand. "Come on Sweetie."

Sav churred, happily following along, looking forward to see how Melody looked in the dress.

The door to the small room opened which contained a mirror on one wall and a chair in a corner with some hooks and a shelf on the other wall. The door closed behind them. Melody's heart skipped a beat as she just realized she had dragged Sav straight into the changing room. Her heart now started to beat faster and faster. "Y.....you can stay if you like. I ..... i might need your help zipping this up" she said, trying to sound casual but unfortunately stuttering slightly a she took a deep breath and started to remove her dress.

Sav churred in loving to be included in the trying on, while also catching the stutter. To help Melody feel at ease, she said, "Sure thing, Girrl friend. I'll help. Besides, you may or may not know it, but it is customary for close girl friends to help each other in the dressing room. Girls can see girls, guys can see guys, you know, same equipment, just differing body styles, and yours is amazing.. that is, if you don't mind me seeing you in your undies."

Melody shook her head. "No, I don't mind." Her heart was now like a bass drum in her ears. By now she had removed the dress she had been wearing and now she was standing in just her bra and panties. She reached for the black dress and paused for a moment looking at the dress and the bra she had chosen to wear. "Well, this is not going to match" and she quickly unhooked her bra and let it drop to the floor. She now proceeded to work the black dress on.

Sav, used to women's locker rooms and helping ladies dressing, wasn't even surprised by the move. She smiled while raising her eyebrows in fun, "Nice C Team there, Girl. Common, let's get you squeezed in." As she said this, the bra zipped off of the floor to hang on a nearby hook. Sav now hovered nearby, helping to tug down the tight fitting dress, adjusting here and there. She inspected Melody, saying, "Okay, it's on. Ready for me to zip you up?"

Melody nodded and took a deep breath in and held it. She could feel her cheeks starting turn a deep red. She also thought back to the weird dream she had the other night. The words 'tell her' were still echoing through her mind. She had been keeping these feeling locked deep inside her for a while now and had decided it was time to tell Sav the truth. She opened her mouth to utter the words but, she stopped. What if Save'ena didn't feel the same way? What if she ruined their friendship? Unfortunately, doubt crept in and took hold in that instant. 'This is silly she thought to herself' there must be a way I can get this out. She was lost in thought for a moment until she felt Sav place her hand on her back which snapped her back to reality.

Sav gently placed her left hand over Melody's tailbone while she grabbed the zipper in her right. Now that the dress was held down, she zipped Melody into the dress. Returning her hand to where the zipper started, she used both hands to gently move up Melody's spine to tuck the folds over to make the zipper disappear. When done, she gently swatted Melody's rear and churred out in humor, "Okay, you're now trapped into the insidious evening affair." She continued, "Look, turn around, what do you think?"

The zipper now up she let go her breath and turned to look at the mirror. She let out an involuntary gasp. The split cam evocatively up to her mid thigh and the low cut top showed off a very generous amount of cleavage. She gave a little twirl for Sav. "Well?" she asked expectantly. "What do you think?"

Sav momentarily frowned as she looked Melody over. That dress, while nice, showed too much of Melody to those looking at her, and seemed... too inviting of taking advantage of by Sav's terms of dating etiquette. She smiled past the frown, clapping her hands in excitement for Melody. "Wow... just, Wow. You look fantastic in that outfit. You sure fill it out nicely. You kind-of make me a little jealous of you looking like that, which I think is a good thing, right?"

Melody was still admiring her own reflection. "Oh you have nothing to be jealous of Sweetie, you look fabulous in anything. I bet you'd even look good in something like this."

Sav blanched in looking over the outfit and how it showed off Melody's assets so pointedly. She exclaimed out, "UMm, no, no, not for me, not one like that." She blushed as her words continued to rush out, "I mean, I mean, sorry, but, but that outfit shows off too much, I would not feel comfortable, it would make me feel like my wares are up for highest bidder.. " Sav shook her head even as her words kept tumbling out as she did not think about them, only that the dress would display her once more to those who would just take. "Just like last time when I was in a flight suite and still captured for my looks and thrown into that sex slave dung.... dung... awwg.. err,err,err... *voice change* There was no bdsm slave training dungeon on Mr. Thompson's Island, it was the made up fantasy by a young raver seeking attention. Forgive this one for mentioning that which the courts have sealed." Sav sat down, breathing hard, swallowing, trying to get her bearings again, her abdomen clenching in on itself as she gently rocked on the bench. She had to throw off what just happened and get back being there for Melody, she had to be there for her best friend.

Melody herd Sav's voice change and it brought back memories of 'the incident'. She thought to herself 'oh no, she's bringing up those memories again'. Melody came over and couched down beside her which was not easy in that dress and held Sav's hand "Hey Sweetie don't worry, you're safe with me here ok" then she went on trying to take Sav's mind off her past "Besides i think a nice little cardigan would go nicely with this to cover my shoulders. What you think?"

Sav was there and not there as she tried to bury the memories as well as the overlay making her speak lies, those damned lies that always tore her up so much. She felt Melody's hand on hers and looked up to focus on Melody, to use Melody as a focal point to return. She managed to catch 'safe with me', 'cardigan', 'cover my shoulders' as she transitioned from battling inside to being outside once more for Melody. She took in a breath, let it out, then said, "Yeah, safe here, no scaries here." Sav reached over to hug Melody, "Thanks... for being here for me, and letting me be here for you. You're still here with me, with my roller coaster personality swings... thanks."

As Sav hugged she let out a sigh of relief. "Hey, I'm always here for you Sweetie. You're right. Let's go find a nice cardigan for this. First, help me out of it please" she smiled as she reached for the zip.

Sav shook herself and stood up, saying, "Okay, stand up, let's get that off of you." She reached up with her left hand to run down the seem, even as with her right hand she unzipped the dress. It was easily done, showing plenty of practice. Sav reached behind her and held out Melody's bra to her.

Once Melody had taken the black dress off, she replaced her bra and put her original dress back on. She turned back to Sav and gathered in her arms for one more hug before they went back into the store. "Come on, I'm sure Nikki won't have gone far."

Sav gave Melody a final squeeze, then released the hug. Holding out a hand for Melody, she smiled and said, "Let's go find that cardigan, mm'Kay?" She then waggled a finger, "And any shopping for me with dresses is to knee, mid-arm sleeves, and v-neck line max, as evening wear usually doesn't allow leggings like with this summer dress, alright, Miss Playboy extraordinaire?"

They went out of the changing room to find Niki not far away. Melody waved her over "I love it but I'd like a cardigan to go with it, do you have anything?"

Nikki nodded, "Of course. Please, this way, I have a stand of three types, from warmth to accentuate to whistle 'here I am'."

Melody turned to Sav "Is there anything you've seen Sweetie?"

Sav's head jerked lightly in surprise as she considered the question as she followed along behind Nikki and Melody. She stated, "Umm, no, I have been searching for clothing for you. Besides, you would have to double the price on anything as I would need modified."

Melody sighed "Today is not just for me Sweetie. You're entitled to have fun as well you know. Please, for me?" she fluttered her eyelashes at her.

Sav took in a breath, let it out, and said, "Okay, okay, we'll ask Nikki if she has something in an evening dress that addresses me being female without showing too much, and I'll try it on, but you'll have to press down on either side of my tail so we can see how it looks, okay?"

Melody grinned "Ok Sweetie. Lets have a look at these cardigans and see if Nikki can find something for you as well."

They arrived at the three stanchions of cardigans and Nikki took one off of each rack. "Here they are. Which do you immediately have your eyes drawn to?"

"This one" Melody said as she picked up a rather plain looking white cardigan. It was simple, yet elegant. "Now then" she turned back to Nikki "Now that I'm sorted out, what do you have for my friend here?"

Sav watched with interest as Melody picked out the white cardigan, seeming to go for the accentuate yet warm. Combined with Melody's red hair, the black evening dress worked with the white sweater, very well. However, now she looked at Nicki like a deer caught in the headlights with the words 'for my friend here?'

Nicki smiled as she tossed her hair in a manner to denote, 'no problem'. "Does she want something similar as yours?"

Melody shook her head slightly "Something a bit longer perhaps with sleeves, ok?"

Nicki's brows furrowed, then she beamed. "I have just the thing, it will look great next to yours, and yet will just curve with Save'ena without showing too much. Follow me."

Melody too Save'ena by the hand as Nikki led the way over to a another rail, picking out a dress and turning to show them.

Sav could not help but follow as Melody had a hold of her hand. However, once they got to the display, Sav kept going forward, her eyes wide, a smile appearing across her muzzle as churrs sounded from her. She mouthed, 'Wow...', then out loud, said, "Wow."

The dress before them was a royal blue, but had dandelion yellow edges and filligree along the upper part of the dress. The neckline was up close to the neck, the sleeves just over the shoulders, and the back fully enclosed. Yet, the bottom part of the dress was down to the feet and was light and elegant, comprised of multiple layers to allow easy movement and dancing, keep the wearer covered, yet was see through when a single layer was moved away from the main. Sav stepped up to it, and already the dress coloration was looking exquisite against her white with grey reverse markings. Sav stared, not believing something like this was in the store.

Nicki whispered to Melody, "It's a prom night dress, but sure looks stunning as evening wear on your friend, I would say. What do you think?"

Melody was watching Save'ena's reaction to the dress. She hadn't seen her this excited by something, other than flying. She whispered back to Nikki "I think she likes it, and she always looks stunning to me."

Nicki smiled, "One Petite 5 Large coming right up. That will put the dress at just above ankle level for you, and fit your frame well. The large will fit your bosom better, as well as your hips and have fabric for a tail slit with molecular seems to get it closed up tight. Be right back."

Sav was still standing there, looking at the dress. She had been too young to go to her high school prom, and was not in any shape for her college class graduation dance. This dress, this dress, was like a dream come true. She whispered out, "Is this... is this... real?"

Melody nodded "Oh yes Sweetie, you look absolutely beautiful."

Sav nodded to what Melody said, not really hearing it as she was lost into a far away dream that was coming true. She was still in front of the dress when Nicki came back.

Nicki smiled at the two, "Common, this way to the dressing room." Nicki led the way, then opened the door to hang the dress inside.

Sav followed along, then went into the Dressing room, dragging Melody with her. After the door was shut, she reached out and touched the dress, marveling at it.

Melody smiled "Yes it's nice to look at but even nicer to wear sweetie. Come on....."

Sav churred gently, "Alright, alright, putting it on." She undressed to white bra and granny panties. She left these on as she slipped the dress over her head and hair. She turned to the tri-mirror and said, "Melody, would you mind zipping me up, and then.. I am going to lower my tail and would you please push the dress down over it and my bum?"

"Go for it sweetie." Melody worked the dress over Sav's tail and straighten it out before zipping it up. She then patted Sav on the shoulder "All set."

Sav smiled into the mirror, loving the dandelion colors of the filigree and accents on the royal blue dress as it went well with her white and grey coloration. The dress was a little tight around her hips and abs due to going down over her tail, but as she was standing with her legs apart to make room for her tail going straight down, then away, she was able to see how the dress would truly look on her. She blushed, "I... Look... Pretty... don't I?"

"You look beautiful Sweetie." Melody said

Sav turned to grab Melody into a hug, saying, "I can buy this dress, right? I can have a dress for that special occasion right, when I feel up for one?"

"Of course Sweetie. You can wear it whenever you want. Come on. Let's go tell Nikki we've decided, ok?"

Sav sighed into Melody's shoulder. "Mmrrmmm. Thanks for this, Melody. I just not have thought about for me, it's just, foreign nature, I guess." She stepped away from Melody and held up her arms. "Ready when you are, Slick Chic."

Sav wiggled as Melody pulled it off. She sighed in happiness as she put back on her sun dress. She glommed onto the prom dress and exited the dressing room. She looked at Nicki with a huge smile upon her face, saying "Mine!"

Nicki laughed, "Yours. Common, you two, lets get these rang up, sent to your rooms, and have you on your way. This way to the service desk."

Sav followed Nicki as she walked beside Melody, still holding on for all she was worth to that first classy dress purchase in her life. She was churring and blushing, still not believing she was getting this.

Melody watched Save'ena. It made her smile to see her friend so happy. Maybe this was the time to tell her........ "Save'ena I........."

She stopped again, her doubts once again filling her mind. Save'ena apparently hadn't heard her as she was still admiring her new dress so Melody decided to keep quiet once again. 'Maybe' she thought 'if I could get her somewhere more familiar like my quarters or.........' she paused for a moment. A holodeck! why hadn't she thought of this earlier. Maybe she could tell a holographic Save'ena and just to gauge what her reaction would be like. Perfect!

Nicki went behind the desk and rang up Melody's dress and cardigan. As it was a very classy affair, from a known designer, the total price was just north of six hundred credits. Nicki looked at Melody, "Separate.. or together?"

Without thinking, Melody produced her I.D and placed it on the counter. "Together is fine, thank you."

Nicki now rang up Sav's dress at just over three hundred credits. Total price was just under a thou. Nickie looked at Sav still holding dearly onto the dress, and giggled. She said, "Save'ena, honey, you need to let go the dress. It will be in your room this evening. It's yours, all paid for, it's yours."

Sav reluctantly gave up the dress and handed it over. She felt, tingly, in a good way, besides the ever present numbness and tingles from since the mesh surgery some six years ago. She shyly looked at Melody, still not believing Melody had bought the dress for her. "Thanks Melody, you didn't have to do that, you know. Just.. thanks."

Melody took Save'ena by the arm and they started to walk out of the store "It's my pleasure Sweetie."

As they walked Melody had a funny little smile on her face. She now had a plan how to get her feeling's out in the open. She could pour her heart out to the hologram first and then it would be easier to tell Save'ena how she felt.

'Yes!' She thought to herself. 'Nothing can go wrong with this plan.'
