**** Synapsis: Captain Kachiko Bayushi and Lt. Cmdr. Savin O'Dell are going through recorded tricorder evidence when it is found that Sav's blood is contiminated and an untimley power surge happens during Isolinear Chip information transfer. It is time for a Venue Change. ****
Shortly, everything was packed and the evidence boxed into two grav stretcher loads, with two grav stretchers. Savin nodded to Kachiko, "Okay, we are set. We just need that shuttle car to load this onto." He used his head to point to the examination room where the young cadet girl was waiting for the CSI agent to come back with a glass of water. "Did you want to go ask questions while I guard our evidence?"
Kachiko shook head, "Let's move the Cadet with us and speak to her there. I have the runabout I arrived here aboard, which is actually my personal property. It's been modified to conduct Intelligence and Covert Operations should it be necessary. I will make it available to your investigation as well."
Savin grinned and replied, "Outstanding. I'll make the arrangements to get bring the girl with us."
"Let's get this all loaded aboard and get out of here," Kachiko sighed. "I am not comfortable staying here any longer."
Savin motioned to a Lieutenant, "Lt. Ryan, please inform Advisor Ensign Mallory that we need her and her charge to come with us to a new location. Also, what is the status of the other three girls?"
Lt. Ryan nodded, "I'll get it done, and... " He consulted his desk monitor, "They are arriving outside in two minutes, ETA. They are being escorted by two discreet MPs."
Savin nodded, "Okay, communicate with them to stay by the shuttle outside. Get Mallory and Jacobsky out to that same shuttle, ASAP." Lt. Ryan got onto his communicator even as he went to the room with the Girl and her just returned Advisor. Savin pulled on his grav stretcher handle, "Lead the way, Captain."
Kachiko nodded, before turning to a locker, tapping in her access code before opening it and withdrawing a hand phaser, handing it to Savin. Before closing it back up, she drew out a Compression Rifle, which she cradled in her arms as the procession made their way out towards the landing pad.
At Kachiko's Runabout was waiting two MPs with three girls, Swensoran, Gruberheim, and M'Katerina. Savin nodded to them as he walked up the back ramp to place the Grav Stretcher inside with his half of the evidence where ever Kachiko wanted it.
Kachiko directed the techs as to where to secure their cargo in the aft cargo hold, pulling out tie downs to prevent the containers from sliding around.
Exiting the runabout, Savin went to an MP and asked, "These are the final three?" He received a nod. Savin continued, "Okay do you know what they have been doing since getting back from the campsite?"
The MP sighed, "Not really, all were allowed to be on their own recognizance. However, I did pick up M'Katerina in her room, while Swensoran and Gruberheim were in the student mess, with two of the Seniors, several other year cadets, talking about Claws and Anger management issues of a particular Cadet." He glanced at the three, then said, "I have been keeping them quiet and not speaking to each other since having them in my care."
Savin let out a sigh, then looked at Kachiko, "Bring just M'Katerina along? Or two, or all three? We also have Jakobsky joining us with her Advisor."
"All three," Kachiko looked at the three Cadets. "M'Katerina is one of my charges. I will contact the advisor for these two and let them know that they're with me."
Rina figitted with the end of her tail as she waited.
Savin looked at his padd, then stated, "Well, Gruberheim is one of Ensign Mallory's charges. When its non-sponsored, the cadets go by last names. And, Warrent Officer Beck is in charge of Swensoran.. and here comes Jakobsky and Mallory."
Kachiko nodded, "I have a bad feeling about this."
Savin smiled to the ladies and said, "M'Katerina, stay here. Captain Bayushi will bring you on board. Everybody else, follow me."
Rina looked from Savin to Bayushi with confusion. Then she slouched and folded her arms across her chest. She just wanted this to be over.
Savin brought the gang of ladies on board the shuttle, hoping the techs had already shifted up the seats. Normal work shuttles could hold eight, when the seats were extended from the floor. This arrangement allowed for larger cargo capacity when not hauling passengers. However, there were seats that could be put into place in the cargo to allow hauling 16 passengers when cargo was not a concern. He made sure to sit himself and Ensign Mallory in a way to prevent the young ladies from talking with each other, even with two of them, the damage was already done, especially as they had been with two Seniors from the 'camping' trip.
Kachiko looked up and UP at the tall Caitian, "I am going to have to ask you to not talk to anyone about this except for the Commander, myself and possibly Vice-Admiral Chen. Sorry about ruining your time off, Kat. This could be an incredibly serious problem."
"Are we in trouble?" Rina asked. "My parents will kill me if I get kicked out of the Academy."
Kachiko shook her head, touching the Cadet's arm before gently urging her forward onto the Runabout, "No Kitty, you're not. At least from what knowledge we have at this time. You're a likely witness and a potential victim in this investigation and that's all that I can say right now. Now let's get forward. You're going to sit in the copilot's chair for this brief flight."
Rina did as she was told.
The runabout took off and shortly was at the new investigative headquarters.
The runabout set down silently without even a bump jolting those aboard. Immediately, Kachiko unstrapped from her seat, "Wait with the Commander, Kitty."
Savin waited with the Ladies while Kachiko got the evidence inside. Once that was done and Kachiko came back, the witnesses came into the headquarters. After making sure each lady was in her own room and amenities was taken care of, Savin led the way to Cadet Jakobsky's room first. "She hasn't been about with the rumors, so we will start with her, then onto M'Katerina, agreed?"
Kachiko returned and had nodded at the Judge Advocate's suggestion, "Follow me, ladies and gentleman."
Inside, Kachiko paused at a hatch in the otherwise featureless grey corridor, "Ladies, this is where you will be staying until we have finished this investigation. I apologize, but computer access is limited and absolutely no outside communication is possible, much less permitted. There are two separate bunk spaces. Please sit or lay in the bunks until we call on you. I expect that nobody talks to the other for now."
"However, Jakobsky, you and your advocate, please come with us," Kachiko gestured down the corridor as the other ladies went into the living space. Down the corridor was another featureless hatch, which Kachiko opened after submitting to a retinal scan. She then motioned everyone inside.
The two went into the room with Cadet Jakobsky and Ensign Mallory. Savin sat down across from the 19 year old and smiled to her. "Please, tell us what you remember about last night, then about waking up this morning. Any details will help immensely."
Cadet Jakobsky looked up at Mallory, who smiled and nodded. She looked back to Savin and Kachiko, took a breath, then began talking. "Well, twelve of us ladies went with the eight senior guys to the Dancing Divito, a dancing lounge at the wharves. It was a sponsored event, and we all considered ourselves lucky as the guys made sure to note only 12, no more, could attend. We got to drinking, dancing, and chatting. The oddball out was Sav as she kept her one glass of sambuca, yuch, why would anybody drink licorise? Anyway, she hung onto that one glass only all night. So, the Guys arranged a shot contest, just to slam a couple with us ladies... hmmph, come to think of it, the guys were drinking long island teas, I think.. and we ladies were getting pretty drunk, the guys seemed kindof sober, good for being chaperones, I guess. Anyways, we all managed to cajole Sav into slamming one shot with us. After that last shot, I remember getting woozy and passing out, too much, I guess."
Jakobsky continued, "When I woke up, it was mid-morning, about 9ish I guess, I found myself in a sleeping bag in a tent in the woods. That was rather strange, to say the least, when last I remembered was passing out in a bar. The Seniors who came over to chat with us let us know we all had agreed to go camping with them at a campsite, they had found a boat to bring us, and after we setup our tents, we passed out. Oh, then they told us Sav had gotten up earlier to go pee and two of them startled her. She raked them with sharp claws from between her fingers and toes, then ran off. Two seniors were out looking for her. Well, the seniors made sure we were fed, answered any questions of ours, and then after a couple of hours Cadet security showed up, and then the civy shuttles and the like. Does that... oh, wait, I forgot. Paul, the lead senior, came over after getting M'Katerina up to let us know we had gotten rambunctious in playing tug of war the night before."
Kachiko arched an eyebrow, "From what you mentioned regarding your reaction to the drinks, particularly Sav's, it sounds suspiciously like you were roofied." She looked over at the Judge Advocate briefly before asking, "Do you remember anything about the Seniors asking about the camping trip?"
She shook her head and sighed, "I wish I could remember any of what the seniors told us happened... but, I don't remember agreeing to camping, any tug of war, any pitching tents, any choosing tent mates, any shrieks of a startled girl, just passing out at the club and then waking up in the tent." She absently rubbed her wrists, then said, "But, the slight chaffing on my wrists bare out the tug of war, so I guess it must be true."
"Chafed wrists?" now Kachiko stared at Savin. "Alright, please remain here and don't touch anything."
The two went into M'Katerina's room. Savin sat across from her, saying, "Hi, M'Katerina. We are trying to figure out what happened at the party and campsite. Could you tell us about what you remember about last night, then waking up this morning? Any details will help immensely."
Kachiko sat on the bunk next to the Caitian, "You can trust him, Kitty."
Rina swallowed hard. She sat with her hands on the edges of her mattress and she dug her claws into the foam as she tried to look relaxed. "I don't remember much after we started drinking," she said, her voice wavering a little. "There was one of the Junior Cadets that wanted to dance with me and we went out onto the dance floor. He was cute...he wanted me to go back to his room with him but I said I shouldn't leave my friends but he was so cute...," she started trembling slightly as she realized she was rambling. She shook her head. "I told him I would meet him outside but needed to tell my friends where I was going because we were told never to go anywhere without out someone knowing where we were going and I really wanted to go with him but something told me not to but....." she rambled...her words running into each other. She stopped and lowered her head. "I'm sorry."
Savin looked over at Kachiko, then back to M'Katerina. It definitely was sounding more and more like a roofie as that would wipe out memories of just before, make previous memories hazy, and then confusion in waking up. He now asked, "What is the last thing you remember from last night, and then the first thing this morning? Go ahead ramble, remember, anything you suddenly realize can be very helpful for getting to what truly happened."
Rina bit her lip as she tried to see through her foggy memory. "Bobby," she said and looked up. "His name was Bobby. He brought me a drink and asked me my favorite song. I told him it was Crystal Kitty by the B'Norlaq Brothers....a group from my planet. He went to the DJ and requested it and then he took me to the dance floor and we started dancing." She pictured the dance floor filling up with dancers and could feel herself getting bumped around by them as everyone jumped and shouted with the music. "Someone fell into me and I stumbled," she said. "It smelled like.....Earth French Fries," she looked at Savin and shrugged. "I know that sounds weird but I remember thinking why am I smelling French Fries? Then everything went....," she searched for a word that defined what she was seeing in her mind. "...sloppy. Like wet paint dripping." She shook her head. "nothing after that until I woke up in the forest."
Savin took some personal notes even though the session was being recorded. He would follow up on which currently used roofies would create a scent of French Fries on a Terran or in a Caitian's olfactory senses. He smiled to M'Katerina, saying, "Thank you, that is a very big help, M'Katerina." He looked up at Kachiko, "Anything else you want to ask or follow up on?"
Kachiko shook her head, "Not here. Anything said in front of the witness could color her recollection."
Savin stood up, saying, "Understood." He looked towards M'Katerina and said, "Thank you again, M'Katerina. Please remain here until Captain Bayushi comes and gets you, and then you will be free to leave. A Yeoman will be in shortly to get you some refreshment."
"Yes, sir," Rina said.
Savin left the room with Kachiko. After the door was closed, he remarked, "That was an interesting turn of events. I know of a roofie that causes excess salt in sweat, and two others that cause the last remembered smell to come to the fore right before unconsciousness. All three would cause M'Katerina to remember French Fries right before nappy time."
"I know the one," Kachiko growled, nearly shaking with rage. "Nerystyl. I have encountered it before, on the Mercury during the War. Six uses and gangrapes with two pregnancies in four days. I collared three crewmen and all of whom were convicted and are now on the penal colony on Cestus Two."
Savin sighed out a "Yeah, probably." He quirked an eyebrow, "It can easily be given with alcohol without combining with it, is easily timed due to need of the body to process, and disappears from the body while being eliminated to wake up. However, fortunately, for us, it is difficult to synthesize and takes sophisticated equipment, meaning traceable if we can get a sample of it." He looked through the window into the room with Cadet Gruberheim with advisor Ensign Mallory, along with Cadet Swensoran and her advisor Warrent Officer Beck. He shook his head, "These were the two hanging out with the Senior male cadets all day. It will be difficult to get a straight story out of them. Still, we have to interview them to get their side of the story. Any suggestions?"
"If they don't remember anything and you think that their testimony may have been colored, I'd recommend going lightly on them. Don't let on that they were almost going to be forced to have sex. There's no need to worry them. Collect everything they have and scrutinize it more than the other cadets. I will visit the club and see what I can gather. I imagine that they won't much like me," Kachiko smirked.
Savin smiled to Kachiko and replied, "Okay, you got it. I will get the interview done, get the girls out of here, then get back to cataloging the evidence. I look forward to what you can find out about the club. As long as you don't have any Sunday plans, we'll reconvene here tomorrow at 0900 hours."
