John stepped into sickbay a few minutes after leaving the Bridge. The battle had seemed long and he'd known there were bound to be injuries, however, what he walked in on made his stomach knot up. The scene before him were just as many medical staff as other officers and crew injured, some still laying on the deck. Barstow only paused momentarily before slapping his comm badge, "Miller, report to sickbay double time," he ordered before stripping off his tunic and tossing it to a nearby chair then pinning his commbadge to his t-shirt.
Apollo grabbed a tricor from a nearby tray and headed for the nearest officer laying on the deck, O'Reilly. He dropped to one knee and carefully turned her over, doing a visual inspection then running the medical probe over her. She was unconscious, blood tricking from her head. The tricorder showed a concussion as well as two fractured ribs, one had punctured there lung, a dislocated shoulder and a laceration on her thigh . Apollo looked up, "nurse, two cc's Alkysin, five cc's inaprovalin and one cc rexlin," he ordered then reched back over to the tray and pick up an anabolic protoplaser and started running it over the various areas of the Doctors body.
A nurse was on her knees in the medicine room, sifting through the containers of meds that had been thrown out if cabinets as doctors called out orders and the staff able to walk tried to help. She found what Barstow had called for and handed it yo the awaiting medic.
"Here, Captain," the medic said, holding out the hypospray. He tried to knerl on the opposite side of the ACMO but the laceration on his knee was too painful so he could only bend down.
"Who is driving this bucket?" Dr. Beannette called out to know one in particular as he tried to organize a triage area. "If I wanted to be tossed around I'd rude a barrel iver Niagara Falls. You!" he grabbed a nurse by the arm. "Get someone to help get those biobeds back where they belong. You," he pointed to a corpsman. "Right those hover gurneys and anchor them so they can hold wounded. Someone find Dr. Ki. He headed upstairs just before Mr. Toad's wild ride."
Apollo just gave a quick nod before administering the injections and tossed the protoplaster to the medic, "run that over your knee and get her on a biobed. We'll deal with the superficial cuts later, but, she's stable" he said then stood up and moved over to Beannette, "commentary isn't helping Doctor....get the nurses to do green, yellow, red and black tags...how many surgeons do you have in here right now?" he asked and wiped the blood from Cara's head off his hand onto his shirt.
"Still able to work?" Beans said, looking around. "Looks like three." He looked back at Barstow. "I'm not a surgeon. My specialty is burns. But I can handle triage."
"Alright, I am a surgeon," Apollo replied, "I'll head up the surgical team, that'll give us for and should be enough, I'll need scrubs."
Caroline entered sickbay reporting as ordered by Bairstow. She could see things were crazy so immediately pulled her personal medical tricorder out her pocket.
"Reporting as ordered sir. Do you want me to jump into the triage?" She asked wondering where the CMO was assuming he was running.
"Aye, once Doctor Ki returns he can assign you where he needs you," the CO replied, "I'll be in surgery, send us all black tags and make sure Ki knows where I'm at," he added, not wanting to try and take over, but, still making sure everything got done, "remember people, stabilize then move on."
"Walking wounded in U beds," Beans was instructing the minimal triage team. He squatted down by a nurse with a large piece of glass empaled in her back. "Curlex to control the bleeding, start a fluid infusion and get her to a T bed. You're going to be alright," he added with a smile at the injured nurse and stood up, moving to the next patient.
Michael left Sick Bay to tend to members of the engineering staff in main engineering. The fight had begun to take its toll and power was spotty at best. So when the injured can't get to the doctor, the doctor gets to the injured. The sight that greeted him when he walked in made him wish he were still in engineering. His staff lay in ruins and the Captain was in surgery. Michael bee lined into his office and took his uniform tunic off, it was replaced with his teal lab coat. He spotted Caroline "Counselor you're my triage doc. I will handle major trauma and the away team." He quickly pointed at a Tellarite wearing teal. "You are with me. I want you to sound off the Lieutenant's vitals every five minutes or even they change dramatically whichever is first." Michael ordered.
"I'm in the science department sir." The Tellarite snorted in response. "Not today!" Michael replied curtly.
"Yes Doctor," Caroline acknoweldged Ki's request and walked off to help some of the people still ariving and standing around tricorder at the ready.
As the patients came pouring into Sick Bay via both transporter and foot. Extreme cases were sent to Michael, he did not bother to put on scrubs there was no time. Besides emergency medicine was the doctor's second love and he had a need to get his hands dirty. A Bolian was placed on his bed. The Petty Officer was unconcious in a medically induced coma and a case was placed on his chest. Ki was informed that this man was working in Engineering when a small explosion in the console sheered his right hand off. The hand was in the case. Michael was able to attach the hand with moments to spare. It took some micro surgery to get the nerves to reattach and sweat beaded on the doctor's brow as he worked. When he had finished the Bolian was taken to the rehab wing of Sick Bay and Michael simply bellowed "Next..."
The smile on his face was ear to ear he was in his element and loving every minute of it. He was impressed that Captain Barstow had come to Sick Bay and was getting his hands dirty. It is rare to see a Captain to that and the image of the man performing surgery was not lost on Ki.
