At last, dinner...

Melody and Fay arrived first at the restaurant and sat in reception waiting for Draxx who was coming from his debriefing. Melody's face lit up when Draxx arrived. "Here there Sweetie, how did your debrief go?"

”Just your typical debrief, ” Draxx stated. ”This place looks nice love”, he kissed Melody on the lips then walked round to Sansa.

He placed a kiss on Sansa's cheek, ”Evening Sweetheart, Faye.”

He took his seat happy to see Mel had ordered a bottle of wine.

”So what looks good?” he asked. ”Has Faye tried steak yet?” it was weird but he was trying to make the effort.

Melody had already put down the menu "Everything looks good, but you know me, I've already decided. Can we have some water also please, I won't be drinking wine. Not in my condition." She added with a smile "Means more for you."

Fay was looking at the menu. "I think I'll let Sansa decide, she seems to know what she likes which I'm willing to try."

The waiter came over. "Good evening, may I take your order?"

Fay let Sansa take over who ordered a full rack of ribs in BBQ sauce with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes and onion rings and coleslaw.

Melody added "I would like a rib-eye steak, the biggest one you've got, medium rare with fries, mushrooms, deep-fried courgettes, creamed spinach and can I also have a large glass of carrot juice. Draxx?"

”I'll try the fillet with a side of broccoli and a baked potato, ” he said after a moment.

The waiter raised an eyebrow at the sheer amount of food, but nodded politely and said "Comming right up."

"Fay," Melody asked, "if you wouldn't mind, Draxx has something he needs to discuss with Sansa."

Fay let Sansa take over again. Sansa looked slightly apprehensive. " Yes, dad?"

”I erm was wondering if you might want to ask Hayley to join us in Italy, ” he said.

Sansa's eyes lit up and she broke out in a huge grin. "Really? Do you mean it? Oh, Dad!" She shuffled closer to him and threw her arms around him and gave him a big hug. "That's great, thank you. You know Fay is getting a new host soon and I was going to see Hayley after she was transferred. I'll tell her when I see her. This is going to be so great."

He nodded and placed a hand on one of her arms. ”Well she makes you happy and it's been a little hard getting used to you growing up so fast and letting you go your own way when in my head your two but if she makes my little girl happy, then I'm happy by extension and I should try to get to know her. See I told you I would get there.”

Sansa sat back in her seat. "I never doubted it, Dad." she said before letting Fay take over again. "This really does mean a lot to Sansa, Draxx. I can tell. I know it's been hard for you to have me sharing the body of your daughter and I just wanted to say thank you for your understanding and your patience."

The waiter returned with their mountain of food which he started setting on the table.

"No, thank you for yours Fay," Draxx said. "I'm sorry it took me so long to be comfortable with the idea of this dinner. I apologise for that and hope we do get a chance to get to know each other. I hope you are enjoying Earth?" he offered. If he was pushing the boat out for Hayley he was doing it for all parties.

Fay smiled at him. ” I understand Draxx, having seen all of Sansa’s memories and experienced the complexity of human relationships. I am enjoying Earth very much, thank you. The Admiral has arranged a whale watching trip for me tomorrow. Mathias has offered to show us his home in Scotland and also I’ll be transferring into a new host shortly. I can't express enough what Sansa has done for me. I am in her debt and she will always have a special place in my heart and in my thoughts.

While listening happily to Fay and Draxx bonding, Melody was also busy ’Inhaling’ the vast feast in front of her which was quickly disappearing.

His wife had always been a good eater but Draxx was noticing she had taken it to another level this evening. Perhaps this was the 'eating for two' thing he mused. He hadn't been around for her pregnancy with Sansa.

Melody interjected as she cleared her plate. "Do you know any more about the new host or when they will be arriving?"

Fay shook her head. "Not as of yet. When I meet the new host I shall return to Starfleet medical for the transfer so you and the Doctor can be there.

A little while later, the waiter returned and looked in shock at all Melody's empty plates and her figure. "How do you do it?" he said with a smile shaking his head. "Can I get you anything else?" he asked.

"Yes please, can I see the dessert menu?"

"Wow red. Can you really fit dessert in?" he asked his mouth wide.

Melody nodded early. Fay, on the other hand, shook her head. "Thank you for a lovely evening but if it is ok with you, we shall retire now. We have an early start in the morning."

Melody nodded. "of course Sweetie, It was nice to have you here."

Fay stood and let Sansa take over, who gave her dad another hug. "I'll see you later. You too mom." She came round the table and hugged Melody before heading out.

Melody looked over the dessert menu. "I think I'll have the apple crumble with custard. Are you having anything Sweetie?" She asked Draxx.

"That depends - are you planning on eating most of mine too?" he asked with a grin.

Melody leaned over and kissed him gently and said with a smile. "I might."
