With all the excitement of giddy teenagers, the girls began the process of moving Sansa into their now shared space. It had been decided that they would share the bedroom, so the activities of bringing in all of Sansa's stuff from both the room in her parents quarters and the things she had temporarily moved into the stateroom she'd shared with Faye.
One of the concessions to Sansa's new occupancy of the space had been to arrange with the Quartermaster for the tiny kitchenette unit that Hayley had never really used to be upgraded into a proper kitchen space for Sansa to exercise her cooking talents. Likewise, since Hayley could exercise in either the middle of the living room or any of the myriad of gyms, holodecks or other ship spaces set aside for such things, the spare room had therefore been converted into a home office/library for Sansa to undertake her studies, since it was important to both of them that Sansa be permitted to follow her passions as well as her education.
Sansa walked in carrying the last container of some of her items. She went into the bedroom. “Which side of the bed you want Sweetie?” she called out to Hayley.
"I'll have the right, since my stuff is in the side-table on that side anyway..." Hayley called back. By 'stuff', she had a personal phaser in her bedside table - for emergencies.
After she had finished, Sansa walked back into the main living area and looked around with a smile. She went up to Hayley and slipped her arms around her. “Honey, I’m home.” she said with a giggle.
Placing her hands on Sansa's, she closed her eyes and smiled. "Welcome home, baby." She purred. "But... it's not quite a 'home' yet..." She reluctantly slid out from Sansa's embrace and disapeared off out into the corridor.
“Where are you going?” Sansa asked curiously. “Is it a surprise?”
A short while later, Hayley returned into their quarters carrying a small squirmy brown bundle in her arms that was making snuffling noises. As she came over to Sansa, a head popped out from the crook of her arm, a little Daschund puppy. "Say Hi to your new mommy..." Hayley said, holding the little dog up towards Sansa.
At the sight it the tiny brown dog, Sansa’s heart just melted. She let out a squeal and held the dog to her face. “Aaaawwwwww Sweetie. She's gorgeous.” The puppy immediately started licking her nose causing Sansa to laugh. “She’s perfect. Is she really for me?"
"Yeah." Hayley smiled happily at the expected reaction. "I was worried you might get lonely when I'm away for duty, so I got you this one."
Sansa rub the puppy's tiny head and it tried to let out a howl of approval.
Sansa swooned. “Aww, she's so cute. You're perfect. Wait till you meet Nibbles. Does she have a name?”
"Not yet no." Hayley responded, laughing at Sansa's predictable childish responses to the little dog.
Sansa came over to Hayley and kissed her. “Thank you Sweetie. I love you.” the little puppy making noises, wanting some attention too.
Sansa cuddled the puppy “And I love you too. She sounds hungry. Let's get you some food and we'll think of a name for you.”
"Apparently the replicator should have some pre-programmed dog meals for appropriate sustenance" Hayley said, as she made her way over to the sofa. "You'll probably want to look at the puppy food variants, since she's a growing girl."
"Come on Sweetie. Let's get you some food." Sansa carried the puppy over to the replicator. "Computer. Some puppy food please, the most popular on file."
A small bowl materialised and at the smell, the little puppy began wagging its tail. Sansa smiled "I think we have a winner." She sat down on the sofa letting the puppy at the bowl.
"So what do you think about a name?" She asked Hayley while patting the seat next to her. "How about Peanut?"
"Well, she's your puppy, I think you should name her whatever you like." Hayley smiled, shuffling over to sit next to Sansa. "You know, the species of dog is called a Daschund, but people often call them 'sasuage dogs', so why not call her Hot Dog?" She smirked.
Sansa laughed and rubbed the little puppy on the back "Don't listen, we're not going to call you hot dog." She looked at Hayley and playfully battered her gently on the arm "We can't call her hot dog! Poor little thing. How about Belle, becaue she's beautiful?"
"More beautiful than me?! Can't have that! What about Cumberland?" Hayley teased.
Sansa leaned forward and kissed her. “Almost as beautiful as you, Seeetie. I think we’ll stick with Belle. The name has grown on me." The little puppy has quickly finished her food and let out a tiny woof for attention. Sansa put her on Hayley’s lap. “Here you hold Belle for a moment while I get her some water.”
She shook her head as she went over to the replicator with the empty bowl and muttered to herself in disbelief “Cumberland? Dog names aren’t your strong suit are they Sweetie?" She came back and put the water on the floor and put the puppy infront of it. “We’ll have to get her some toys to play with." She sat back down next to Hayley and put her arm around her. “Thank you Sweetie. I love her. And I love you.”
"I love you too." Hayley said, nuzzling into Sansa's neck affectionately. "Don't forget a collar and a lead, you'll want to walk Belle around the arboretum at least once if not twice a day, or the holodeck. I'd suggest the decks, but I doubt Commander Rejel will appreciate the little 'love bundles' that she'll drop on the deckplates." Hayley giggled.
Having drunk enough, Belle tried to jump up onto the sofa but it was rather too high. Sansa bent down and picked her up. “She’s got spirit. We’ll have to get her a little ramp.” Belle let out a tiny woof of approval. Sansa snuggled back up to Hayley with the little puppy curled up in her lap.
