Shore leave is nearly over and the repairs and refit to the Merlin are complete. This will be our last day here at Deep Space 21 and I'm looking forward to being in our own quarters again.

Our family has settled into the new routine, the boys are little angels and their father is catching up on all the time he missed with Sansa. Sansa meanwhile has settled into a romantic involvement with Lieutenant Teague. She can be rather.... impulsive at times but as long as she is happy, that's all I'm bothered about. She has been asked to remain on the station for a couple of weeks to head up an oceanographic survey. While I will miss her on the ship, I cannot be prouder of all she has accomplished.

Starfleet has decided to honour us with some of its latest technology and we've been ordered to put it through its paces, including a new Quantum slipstream drive. I hope it and the work carried out here will pass the scrutiny of our chief engineer.

Today, I'm planning to speak with all the senior staff, to get their feeling about our last mission, how they spent their shore leave and their thought on our upcoming mission.

I'm also looking forward to tying out this new experimental shuttlecraft.... Once engineering has finished putting it together and got it working that is.

While I have enjoyed the rest I am looking forward to getting back out among the stars.
