ON :
While cleaning up the breakfast dishes, Mackenzie and Mia sat watching their parents, giggling every few seconds ...
"Ignore them, they'll go away." Lana said, grinning at the girls, who were obviously plotting something neither parent was going to like, "Actually, I think I should start school a day early, they seem to have plenty time on their hands to plot and scheme, what do you think David, off to school ?"
"Hmm ..." Tan said, glancing over at the suddenly angelic girls, "Maybe we give them one more chance."
"YEHHHH !" the two said in unison, "OK hurry with the plates, you promised to take us to the holodeck. We've been looking where we want to go. You'll 'LOVE' it, won't they Mia." Mackenzie said, trying hard to stifle a chuckle, and failing miserably.
"OK, Look, I'm not due on duty until later, so I'll get the program running but might need to leave if the Captain needs me." he said, wondering what they had cooked up this time.

Stood outside the holodeck, David was about to ask where they wanted to visit, but Mackenzie said he had to move away so she could surprise him. Shrugging he walked a few paces down the corridor, Mia forcing him further and further until he was out of earshot. Once satisfied, sha asked her Mother to lift her to the panel:
"Computer, I want to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain fairground. It's in California on Earth." she whispered, glancing over to see if her Father was listening, "OH, computer wait. It has to be in the year, erm, twenty sixteen." she added quickly.
'Program complete .. Enter when ready' the computer obliged.
"OK Daddy, lets go !" the girls said laughing between themselves conspiratorially .... With no small amount of trepidation, David approached the doors, and instantly wondered how long he was going to keep his recently enjoyed breakfast. He looked up into the distance at the enormous thrill rides, more than one surpassing the fifteen story mark, and while he was completely confident in the fastest and most agile fighters, the idea of dropping almost two hundred feet in practical free-fall, was a tad daunting, it wasn't the fall as such, but those rides were practically thrown together in his opinion, and despite what anyone said, it was 'his' opinion that counted he thought, it stemmed from his childhood, a totally irrational fear, but a fear nonetheless. thankfully, it wasn't something that would or could affect his ability to carry out his duties, unless those duties were on a damn roller-coaster ...
Mia handed him a small package:
"What's this ?" he asked, eyeing the flat package.
"It's called a 'sick-bag' Daddy .... Just in case." she said, that totally innocent look on her face so he couldn't be annoyed.
"Har, Har ..." he said, tucking it into his waist band when he hoped no-one was looking.
"We're going on the Scream first !" the girls said, running ahead. David couldn't help saying 'don't go to far' before he remembered where they were.
"No, let's start small." he said, looking around at the skyscraper sized rides surrounding them, "Or at least smaller. Please." he said, hoping to gain some sympathy, and while Lana was supportive, Mackenzie and Mia just laughed, chanting "Daddy gonna barf, Daddy gonna barf" as they ran to the head of the queue. Reluctantly, David and Lana followed the two girls, both of which would never have been allowed on the real ride he was certain, hell, Lana only just passed the height requirement he said, chuckling inwardly at his own joke, but then they had to climb on the thing. The girls took the front carriage while Lana and David took the seats behind, he leaned over and whispered in Mia's ear, grinning knowingly.
"You better not Daddy !" she said, telling her sister what he'd said after he informed her she was just in the right place to get a head full of breakfast should he loose it mid-ride.
The ride was filled, obviously with holo-visitors, not real people, but that didn't make him feel any safer. As they began the initial climb, he could feel the carriage clanking it's way up the track and eyeing the back of his six year old Daughters' head, wondered if she had somehow altered the program to make it 'appear' less safe than it was. Dismissing the idea as ludicrous, he joined in the cheering as the train of carriages climbed. he had been concentrating on the track ahead, until that fell out of sight and he felt Lana take his hand. Unsure as to whether it was for her benefit or his, he decided it was likely better, not to ask. Mia and Mackenzie turned to face them screaming in anticipation, then they crested the summit. Their carriage made a tight turn simultaneously pitching forward at an alarming angle. he wondered vaguely if there was a telepathic Officer anywhere on the ship picking up his thoughts at the moment and wondering what the hell was happening. The weight differential between what was coming 'up' and what was already trying to pull the rest in a terrifying downward plummet finally transferred to the latter, and they plummeted into the mist-filled depths below, a cacophony of screams almost deafening him.
All he could think of was this was the first of the rides, and it was possible he'd be back on this before their time was up. He silently (and jokingly) cursed the Vulcan's for not taking the Romulan's side against them ..........
