USS Basiliskos
Fast Troop Transport Courier
The Courier was busy with its preparations for transfers to the USS Merlin. There were several upgraded modules, specialty calibration tools, and fighter parts. The Merlin was in a shakedown mission after having left Drydock. The USS Basiliskos could not interfere with the shakedown, and so waited for a signal from the Merlin that it was completed.
In the fighter launch bay, a lone figure stood at a window looking out at the maelstrom of rocks that circled and gyrated in seemingly impossible orbits. Behind the figure, a lone fighter, a Vakkyrie, as being fitted with Cargo Pods for last minute supplies, fighter parts, and personnel paraphernalia that had missed the initial leave of transport.
A crew chief approached the unusual young lady standing by the window. Many of those on deck were very curious. The female at the window, while in Starfleet garb, was shaped like a humanoid Skunk, of all things. The chief wondered if the tail was real, or decoration, when it shifted and shook once in response to something the officer saw in space. The tail fur seemed to wave about and settle like a fine, silk dream. Well, the tail was real enough, alright.
He came up to the officer and coughed. The ears turned to focus on him, and then the female officer tore herself away from the window. She seemed melancholy, but that dissipated when she saw the Valkyrie cargo pod hatches being shut. She grinned, her eyes shining bright, as she asked, "Is it ready, Chief Tenabraun?"
He glanced at his padd again to get her name down as he moved to be beside her. He answered her question, "Yes, Lt. Tillatix, she is ready." He turned to look at the fighter, "Darn shame she will be dismantled for spare parts, but that is what she is for." As he was now next to the Mephetian officer, he could not help but sniff gently. Nope, she did not smell like a skunk. The officer's ears twitched, but there was no other outward sign that she had noticed his deliberate sniffing of the air around her.
She nodded, "Yeah, tis a shame, but not to worry, we will get a good flight in, yes, we will." She began walking towards the fighter, her pace increasing as her desire to fly the craft was becoming more and more evident. Cheif Tenabraun was soon pressed to keep up. She came up to the Valkyrie, touching the hull, and the door opened for her. She grinned, "See, Venita is wanting to get out flying as well."
The Chief shook his head, then asked, "How did you get this run to the Merlin? There are others before you."
She churred, an erotic and exotic sounding noise. "Because I am a new squadron commander for the Merlin, and so this is killing two birds with one stone. I fly the cargo and parts ship over, and they get their new Squadron Commander." She turned to hold out her hand, "Lt. j.g. Saveena Amilia Tillatix, at your service."
The Chief shook her hand, then motioned for her to get into the ship. "Alright, Ma'am, all yours. Just, be careful, this is the Hayes proving ground."
Sav checked the power cell on her life support belt, then buckled in. "Not a problem, Chief. I flew a Nova Class research vessel through an asteroid field to tractor and rescue a Fleet Repair Dock Freighter, then out again. This is a Valkyrie, and even though weighed down, we will be fine, Venita and I."
The Chief looked impressed. "You don't say. Alright, she is all yours. The crew will give you the signal when the initial shakedown test is over to fly on to her. Break a leg, Lt."
The door shut and Sav waited for her 'go' signal to get to the Merlin. Suddenly, her panel lit up. It was time. She grinned as she brought the Valkyrie up off of the deck, rotating her to face the opening fighter launch port.
As the flight crew directed her out, she went. As she did, she rotated 180 degrees and flew out of the ship upside down, but not to hotdog, but for a reason. She had already seen what Venita was seeing on her scanners and used the maneuver to go down and under a shifting small asteroid on an elliptical up orbit. "Now, to meet up with my new command," was her talk to herself.
