525 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

“God these things are heavy,” Caroline said as they managed between them to haul the biohazard containment box out of the turbo lift. She almost tripped, not used to the weight and the bulkiness of the biohazard suit.

“You can say that again,” Tera said. “We need some strong boys in sickbay. Be all grrrrrrr and do the heavy lifting.”

Caroline cracked half a smile although the younger woman was unlikely to see it fully in their current get up. “We should be getting another surgeon soon and the one I have requested is male. Although it doesn’t state on the job description “carrying heavy boxes.”

“Can you amend it?” Tera asked giggling.

“Nope, we will have to work on our upper body strength. This is the spot,” Caroline turned serious. Hitting her comm.. badge which was no easy feat in the suit she stated, “Bridge we are in position. Please set up the force field at junction 72 Baker.”

They saw the hazy outline of the energy barrier before the response from the bridge. “Yes Maam.”

“Okay, now get rid of the force field at 72 Alpha,” Caroline told them. The one in front shimmered into sight for a moment and then disappeared. Now the contaminant would extend to around them.

“And we hope these suits do not let ANYTHING penetrate them,” the blond turned back to Tera.

“Copy that Doctor, I do not fancy time in isolation. But hey at least if it gets to that, you gave chief engineer the haunted room.”

Caroline sighed as they placed the device down and she stated to locate her tricorder. “Tera, that room is not haunted. Honestly I will get Chief Ikiri to prove it too you.”

Tera tutted at her suggestion but mirrored Caroline's actions with her own tricorder and they both turned to each other and frowned. “Bridge,” Caroline said again. “We are in the quarantined area and there is no sign of this bio hazard on any of my scans. Can you send through the data again from when you alerted us of it?”

She waited a moment beginning to get a lingering doubt creep into the back of her mind. When the report landed, they twice more rang the tricorder scans again. She shook her head in Tera’s direction.

“I get the feeling this is not what it seems, and if I have to go through an hours decontamination cycle once this kits all off, and a days isolation and testing for nothing I am really not going to be happy, but lets open the box and get a sample of the air in there anyway. Supposedly this has got better scanning equipment.”

“You suspect another drill doctor,” Tera asked her eyes mirroring the same sentiment Caroline had just expressed.

“Caroline didn’t answer straight away instead instructing the device to take the sample and analyse the contents.

When it came up standard atmosphere she looked at the brunette. “Yes I think this is another drill. Tera, “she said suddenly formally. “Somehow they fooled the computers."
